I'm always fascinated how clever you use these simple shaped ABS materials to produce such usefuls superstructures to your vehicles.

What's this thicker end of the hose for? Is this a funnel or is it something like pump to pump off water from e.g. a flooded cellar?

Thank you, Jochen, for your kind words.  I must say ABS is wonderful and for me has the great advantage of being easy to work with, cutting, sanding, painting.

You're asking about picture 3614-2 and the end piece is a filter called a strainer basket because they are usually made out of wicker just like an old-fashioned shopping basket.  It is used when pumping water from a stream or pond or canal when the fire engine has no water supply of its own, for example because it has used up all the water in its tank, and acts as a filter or strainer to stop mud and leaves and stuff like that being pumped up and blocking the pump.
