Speaking of, the story I’m going to tell you today takes place here in 1900, somewhere in western Europe. You're probably wondering how I made it so fast to the Belle Epoque…I guess that’s the magic of Playmobil!
I’m right now at the Victorian Mansion that I built for someone special I’m awating, but while she arrives let me welcome YOU to our house!!!

This story has been so much fun to work on that I REALLY want to share the process behind - The original idea (December 2010) only intended to present customs: the in-laws family (the characters in the last picture, which will be formally presented in the next chapter) and the house, which was put together using misc. pieces from the two original victorian mansions (5300 and 5305). Initially it ocurred to me to just open a thread called "The House of my Avatar's Girlfriend" but little by little I started brainstorming until the idea twisted into an art work project. Eventually, since I had so many things and details to present that a "tale" was a must in order to make the whole thing worth presenting...What a better way to do it than in a photo story format. :)

One of the thoughts that crossed my mind when I started this was: What would the Victorian Theme look like if it was re-released these days? The figures would be more detailed (unlike the original figures, they'd at least have shoes and more detailed clothes! :D) Although I believe that the essence of this concept will look more reflected in the figures from Part 2 and Part 3. You can see that I tried to keep that "pink" atmosphere in the pictures though.

When it comes to collecting, I'm very into modern stuff like the Zoo or the City Life, but the Victorian series is my favorite historical theme (you can see why I picked a customized female figure dressed in a 1900 outfit as my avatar's partner). Therefore, I'd always felt like making a Victorian photo story since more than 5 years ago, after making Klickderella (http://img16.imageshack.us/img16/8751/klicknicienta.png) in 2004 and Honey Moon in Africa (http://img708.imageshack.us/img708/1842/44300477.png) in 2005, both posted on the old Playmoboard...but that never happened because a photo story with so many details is very time and money consuming and at the time I started to dedicate more time (and money ;D) to my personal life. I'm glad I didn't carry out the idea back then because my skills (including my photography) have improved significantly ever since.

There's two more chapters to go - This one was more like an intro and the real plot will start to develop in the next one, which I promise to try to post in less than a week.

The shots and everything have turned out just like I expected - It's amazing how things turn out your way when you're determinated to it. 8}

Anyway, I've talked to much now - I hope you keep enjoying the story and pictures as much as I have so far. :)

I'm glad you guys are enjoying it so far.

Gaston, I will definately show some backstage shoots later on...the house is fully customized (had to get some spare connectors and walls to cut some parts and do the assembly thing). The house is totally playable too from the back if the walls are removed. :) I'm going to take some pics of that after the Finale Chapter in order not to break the magic and sequence. :)

He and Charlotte are authors of a money-oriented alliance: They both convinced the family to bring him to Geneviève as her best marriage option - Once married, he plans to steal the family's fortune to share it with Charlotte, who otherwise wouldn't get much of the heritage for being the youngest daughter. What they still don't know is that Geneviève is already comitted. ;)

Omi now wants to babysit Félix, and Jean Phillipe's kids want to be around him forever...maybe that'll happen after we come back from our trip. Who knows where this train will lead us, perhaps into a journey in time again...but whatever it is, I'm sure it'll be to another fun adventure! :wave:

ok i went home this afternoon and grabbed my brother's camera to take some pics of the mansion (my camera must be hidden in a pile of sets i used for the story 8})

I used parts from both the large and small mansions, but still had to get a few spare parts to cut etc

Backside can be turned into a playable version if removing all the walls. This is obviously very incomplete, but the space can be fully furnished. :)

I took away all the original flowers that the mansions come with and I decided to decorate the house with roses. IMO these roses are WAY prettier, and they match the rest of the scenery/general atmosphere of the story.

Post by: Luis on November 17, 2011, 02:31:48: Some people assume that the backgrounds I use in my pictures are computer generated...Some people don't assume and ask if I use photo shop. Well, I DO NOT use photo shop for my pictures - it's all artistic. The sky I used for this story had to be special (I normally use that clouded blue sky) because it had to reflect that pink atmosphere of the theme. The set up in general was bigger than any of those of the pics I've posted so far on the forum:

Every picture I make includes a lot of details, and the hardest shoots were definately those of the biggest layouts (like the backyard with the lake, the view from the front of the house and the park where the train appears). I normally picture the idea in my mind before I take a photo - It's VERY difficult to make sure you don't miss something (i.e. a misplaced figure overlaping a bird), and so I set it all up (a night before) to make sure I'm achieving the idea of the set up. First though, I have to calculate the room I'm going to use to make sure I don't have to re-arrange the diorama (I'm a busy person at work and for me taking pictures is a race against time! 8}). A good tool to rely on is the camera lens that allows you to see (with close ups) if all the details in the pictures are positioned as I desire.

In the picture above I knew I could continue with the idea and then I only had to choose the scenery that would give life to it.

I knew that I had to add suspense before the villian died, and I knew the baby had to be tossed but I had NOT picture in my mind how he was going to do it until the moment I was taking the pictures of that scene. ;D
I used a method that I call 'suspendu en l'air', which features an "invisble" piece of thread. I used this method in one of my Arabian Valentine Cards (http://www.playmofriends.com/forum/index.php?topic=7076.0) (the big picture with the magic carpet) - I am surprised that no-one really pointed it out back then (I assume we all take a flying carpet for granted? :))

1. A Day at The Zoo (tittle tells it all ;D)

2. Once Upon a Dream (Magic theme photostory feat. customized characters in a mission in the lands of Ever After)

3. Theme Park Project (customized rides in a fantasy-themed amusement park)

Either of the three would feature this kind of photo artwork, but I can't make them all at once, so your vote would be highly appreaciated because I don't know where to start from. 8}
