... charge good money for a figure, and it doesn't even have all/the correct parts?
For eg: sellers charging a lot of money for monks and priests without their sandals, or with the wrong colour cloth sack ... that sort of thing.
Recently my wife got me a 3633 Robber and it had the wrong beard on. It drives me crazy. It would not bug me so much if they were cheap, but no ...
::) ::) ::)
And what is even more annoying is that such parts are then very hard to come by and it's next to impossible to complete the figure. The sheriff's grey spurs from 3627 is a case in point.
-
Just out of curiosity, why do so many collectors find it so necessary to complete sets? If it is missing a structural part or the spurs I understand but why not in a different color? The black spurs are common, would they just look wrong or do they look fine and it just bugs you that they are not original?
I wonder this because there are so many customizers in here who never seem to be able to leave any klicky or building in its original state and then there are the ones who go to great lengths to put everything back

I dont mind having a bifferent colour accessory on a klikcy, as long as I already have a complete one with the correct and proper accessories for display. So yeah, I do hate it if I am looking for a complete klicky with its proper accessories and the ones I found are all wrong, to put on display, but after that I dont really care.

Same here :)
I wouldn't mind an incomplete friar ... but then its incompleteness should be reflected in the price!
-
I care for some things, but rarely. Quite often, if I want a certain set, it's because of a certain part or baseplate or klicky that I want to use for something else, usually for the zoo. So as long as the set has the parts I wanted it for, I'm good and don't care about the rest. On rare occassions, i want a set exactly as it comes, though, particularly certain specials, etc.
Anyway, so to answer the original question, if they charge a lot, yeah I hate that. But I love finding an incomplete set that has the particular things i'm looking for out of the set, marked way down because it's missing some other stuff!
-
Well... ebay sellers can charge what they darn well please - and if two people are willing to pay a lot, that can drive the price to crazy levels.. Been on both sides of that..
Now, I see nothing wrong with that - except if it's listed/pictured as "original" and isn't. If you buy from a pic and it's green in the pic, can't come red in the post office!
Other than that.. look before you buy.

Nothing, nothing, nothing can be more annoying than when sellers have like several rare/of interest sets, and they end up splitting them between several different auction lots
Arrrrggghhhh!!! >:( >:( >:(
It makes me have to spend so much money some times, but most of the time I don't bother buying any
Damo :)

It's the buyer who decides the price paid, not the seller, even in Buy-it-now; if you think the price is too high, whether auction or BIN, then you don't pay it. As for something being incomplete or with "wrong" parts, if the description says original, then you can go back to the seller and complain, ask for to return the item or for a refund. The best thing though is to check beforehand that it's what the seller claims it is.
-
Getting the right figures with the set seems difficult, I wonder if they just don't know or want to sell them seperatly for some reason, and give lots of newer figures with it?
Seems very common with the 3666 castle. Or they just depict a box and not the contents despite it being used.
-
I don't know, man. If I were a seller, I'd make an effort to give a complete figure if I'm asking x much money. It's like doing a good job when you're asked to do one for a certain amount of money.
-
Just calm down and give the picture a scrutiny.......dont let your impulse control your behavior....clicking the bid or buy button.
I think it is true the sellers can do whatever they want as long as he/she is not misrepresenting, so we really have to be careful. I earlier bought a klicky off from ebay and only one sleeve is included....ironically....there is really just one single sleeve shown on the picture. That is my fault. Luckily we have DS service.
-
Talk about those rare parts. Sometimes I just convince myself, Geobra is gonna make something new and I dont need the old items and skip that :-[ Remorse does haunt sometimes though.

What, do you have a DS service in HK? :o
This month I am going on a tour of the Malta factory, somebody gave me that for my bday. Ill see if I can ask people about that, cause I can't believe for a moment that there is no such service here, the birthplace of the klickies.

Cool....a tour to the birth place of klickies!!!! What have they given you for your bday????
People in Malta got the famous Maltese Knight special and a lot of klickies and parts in loose.....that is what I call privilege!!

:o :o :o
How did THAT happen?! How does one get that? Cause, you know.. MY bday is coming!

I don't know. You just ask I suppose. They do the tours twice a day if I remember what was written on the card correctly. I hope I'll be able to ask them some grown-up questions while I'm there ... I hope it will not be something dumbed down for the kids.
As for lose parts and stuff, I am tired of sayng - on this forum - that I haven't seen any of those in years. It's a bit like those poor migrants in the 1800s thinking that the streets from the port to the city would be teeming with gold coins :P

Good luck on your tour.......and please maintain your inner focus....not to go gaga in front of the klickies :P
HAHA....figuratively........so correct. It is like mirage to us

Now that is one thing that truly annoys me. I have seen so many auctions were the seller sells a set in a job lot and on a seperate auction are all the structural parts to the set. I have seen it with the Snow Labs, the Colorado station and even the black floor pieces for the Steck train station.
Last month I saw the auction for the 4300 and it went for a premium price, something a collector would pay but the thing was the black floor was not in the pictures. On a seperate auction there was the black floor with a starting price of $25 that would have completed the set and it did not sell ? ?

I'm afraid I fall into this category . . . just can't leave well enough alone. :-[

Hi,
which black floor pieces do you mean?
The black ones for the building itself?
The black ones for the platform?
or
The black one with the roof above?????
These parts should be rare??? Not here! I guess I have a hole bunch of them....

I thought there was only one set of black floors. It goes beyond the footprint of the building and is the thin ones (not the one with the western buildings, I think those are dark brown)
-
Ok,
they are 5 plates which are creating the ground of the building.
There is one longer one with the gap for the roof holder. (picture right in background)
and there are (I guess) 3 small floors (picture left in front with passengers)
All of them are black.

Yes but the price is so high because he's - obliquely, but still - trying to pass them off as 3626 and 3628. That's my point.
-
yes with reference to that in particular it is an issue, but because there are ample pictures anyone who would care about complete original sets should be able to figure out that they aren't without much effort... the ones that really bug me are the ones that post for a really good price using a picture of the box.. then come and aren't at all the same people... if they have the figures themselves pictured... then they aren't really influencing me :)
