I'm falling further down the slippery slope.
This is what I am going to collect this evening (see attached image).
According to the description it is 6/7 boxes of loose playmobil and a fully furnished mansion with extension. It's 30 minutes away and I couldn't resist knowing there was a mansion so near and it didn't belong to me (is that sounding obsessive!). I don't really know what I am going to do with it but hey it gives me something to do over summer.
Add to that I have a log cabin and silver ranch supposedly in the post...I say supposedly because originally I was going to collect (they were an hour away) but I was a bit busy at the time so shelled out £9 for postage instead. I received a message on Thursday that they had been posted and I quote 'should be arriving any day now'. That was 5 days ago. :hmm: I'm getting a bit worried and at least 5 parcels have arrived since then, I get excited every time and not one is for me!
Anyway, I'll let you know about what I get tonight, I'm actually quite excited. :-[

Therapy is the only answer, usually in the form of buying more Playmobil! ;D

Your summer is shaping up! Sounds like you will have a wonderful time exploring the new sets.
Enjoy! ;D

Your summer is shaping up!
According to my mum I need to get a job. I guess that has positives and negatives: More money to buy more playmo, less time to enjoy it!
-
I found Playmobil a great reason to
enter the mafia business do more work and therefore be able to spent more on buying playmobil ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
I saw this - I would have bought it if it were nearer! :evilplan:
Have fun! :D
Damo :)

I'm not kidding when I say it's close. 30 minutes maximum and we used to drive through the area on the way to visit my family who live about an hour away so apparently we don't even need to take the satnav!
-
Nice looking lot. I know if there was such a lot within 30 minutes away I too would not have let it go
-
Gordon is correct! Cases such as yours... and many others here... is terminal! Perscription: more playmobil!! Cngratulations on your new aquisitions!!!
-
Naf,
This looks SERIOUS! Way to go!
Maybe you can sell the stuff you don't want to help defer the costs.
Pgal
-
Congrats on your hauls.
I hope for your neighbours they don't have mansions ;D
On the job-getting part; opening a clinic for fellow Playmo-addicts may become a lucrative business ;)
I found Playmobil a great reason to enter the mafia business
Now I'm imagining someone dealing klickies and parts at a streetcorner. And others smuggling them in their stomach on an airplane from Malta!

A quick update folks (I'm supposed to be sleeping!) they were very nice people but didn't really know what they were talking about. Major panic when it looked like it was not going to fit in the car-we folded down the seats and just about managed. Dissapointingly their idea of an extension was the conservatory on the side but I think a complete 5581 guards with children and a complete 5620 oldtimer car more than make up for that! :D ;D
Amongst the haul was a box of knights, some steck, supermarket, advent calendars, vacation cottage, log cabin, stagecoach, car, lions and a farm theme box plus more. It's all going to need washing but I'm happy and in love with the victorian car(I had to keep a straight face when the lady was showing us inside the boxes )
I'll post pictures tommorow,
naflibomyalp

wow!! so many items you did no know right? these buys are the best ever!!!
-
OH my goodness! how ExCiTiNg!!!! All kinds of great stuff in there! We definitely MUST see pics of it, first thing tommorow, young lady, or else!
-
Ok, so this is a quick picture (no, this time I'm not meant to be sleeping, I'm meant to be revising ::)).
I'm still sorting so some of it is still in boxes.
I know the picture is not good quality...I had to mess around with the settings to get it under 100KB.

Verity, use the normal settings on your camera and resize the picture afterwards to keep the quality.

Very nice purchase, have tons of fun with it!

That looks like a lot of fun times

Well, I'm quite pleased with myself. It's been 3 days and I've managed to sort out and bag 57 sets with only a few parts left over! I've sorted them into crates: keeping, selling and not sure. They contain the following:
Sets that I am keeping:
PlaymoDB List - Your Set List (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/your_set_list.pl?setlist=3985,5581,3896,4619,3196,3208,3209,3638,5620,4150,3604;title=Your%20Set%20List)
Sets I don't want:
PlaymoDB List - Your Set List (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/your_set_list.pl?setlist=3200,3030,5322,5325,5312,3201,3997,3084,5324,3931,3668,3008,3669,3069,3895,3153,3157,3890,3119,3124,3730,3955;title=Your%20Set%20List)
Ones I am not sure whether to keep or not:
PlaymoDB List - Your Set List (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/your_set_list.pl?setlist=3230,3909,3074,5326,5316,5510,5313,4617,3714,3713,3118,3114,3996,4430,4430,3840,3317,5300;title=Your%20Set%20List)
Then I believe the people I bought it off must still have a box somewhere because there is a small bag of pieces from the pony ranch, horse drawn cart, there's the corner of the roof and figures from the post office, the stagecoach (3803) but no horses or accessories and the instructions and figures from the roadside cafe but no actual cafe.
I'm happy with it all so now I have to decide about the maybe pile and then wash all of it-it was quite dusty but the people also had 2 cats and I am really allergic to them and I don't want my victorian car to make me ill, I want to be able to put it in my room so I can convince myself it actually belongs to me!

There's nothing like a good sort of a haul. I've had that sometimes before, where there are parts for things that aern't there.
In one haul I had the complete set of accessories and klickies for the camper van and peddallo etc, but the vehicles were missing ???
That farm set with the tractor maybe worth keeping as it was a US exclusive, and so harder to find in this country (the value isn't too special though, unfortunately :()
Are the victorian cars that rare now? I got mine cheap in one of the most controvertial purchases mentioned on this forum :-[
Damo :)

Controversial purchase? I don't remember this....
Verity, that is a truly awesome haul! All kinds of great stuff in there! And I can't believe some of the stuff you plan to get rid of. :o Some great sets in there, too.
-
That's the sort of thing I need to do, Verity.
From your not keeping list, I'd be interested in taking this one off your hands:
http://collectobil.com/catalogue/items/3069.htm
I got a Victorian car for £2.50 at the local recycling site years ago with only odd bits missing (tyres and a headlamp, I think) and I was able to get them from DS when the old-timer truck was re-issued for a German store.

Yes, I was quite naughty :-[

I just wasn't prepared to pay the prices they seem to reach on ebay and recently I have noticed the prices climbing especially if the figures are included so I had resigned myself to the fact I was never going to get one. I didn't know that one was going to be in the lot before I bought it, it was only when the woman pulled it out of the box in her front room and made a little speech about how it was vintage and how she had bought it years ago and it was expensive then etc and I was just thinking hurry up so we can get this home and I can unpack it all and see what else there is. When we did get home we carried in all the boxes and were just folding the seats back and we were cornered by our neighbours who chatted for at least 15 minutes. ::) By the time we unpacked it (okay tipped it onto the carpet) it was almost time for me to go to bed!

Neither do I.
Some of the stuff I plan to get rid of like the victorian room sets are because if I keep them I will have 3 of one set and I thought duplicates were useful triplicates (?) would be a bit excessive!

Well, I already have one of those which is why it's in the not keeping pile but I was planning on keeping the lady if that alters your decision?

No, that's not a problem, Verity. Let me know if you're looking for anything or what price you're thinking of.

You'll all be glad to hear that these items were delivered in the rain this morning by the postman dressed in royal mail shorts and t-shirt (poor guy probably got a bit wet!). The message I received about the items being posted on Thursday was a load of rubbish because the stamp on the parcel was dated yesterday and only cost them £6.66 and you can't tell me the rest of my £9 postage was spent on packing because it was wrapped in a bin bag them wrapped in a piece of manky cardboard. Anyway, the items are ok-I'll add them to my pile of washing!
-
Nice assortment of sets there. I would not be able to part with any of it but that is just my addiction talking ;)

Ras,
i did not know that addictions could talk? In what language?
Boy are we ALL in trouble now!

I know it has been a long time but have completed this 'project' and wanted to share the story of the last 6 months with you.
I bought this lot of eBay with only this picture to go off:
It was collection only and this is what I arrived home with:
:o
Over the next week I took over the lounge with playmo pieces spread everywhere trying to create some order. Eventually it was sorted into the following (over 50 sets):
http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/your_set_list.pl?setlist=3118%0D%0A3713%0D%0A3840%0D%0A4430%0D%0A5313%0D%0A5316%0D%0A5326%0D%0A3196%0D%0A3208%0D%0A3209%0D%0A3604%0D%0A3638%0D%0A3896%0D%0A3985%0D%0A4150%0D%0A4619%0D%0A5581%0D%0A5620
http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/your_set_list.pl?setlist=3074%0D%0A3114%0D%0A3230%0D%0A3317%0D%0A3714%0D%0A3996%0D%0A4430%0D%0A4617%0D%0A5300%0D%0A3008%0D%0A3030%0D%0A3069%0D%0A3084%0D%0A3119%0D%0A3124%0D%0A3153%0D%0A3157%0D%0A3200%0D%0A3201%0D%0A3668%0D%0A3669%0D%0A3730%0D%0A3890%0D%0A3895%0D%0A3931%0D%0A3955%0D%0A3997%0D%0A5312%0D%0A5322%0D%0A5324%0D%0A5325
Each was individually bagged with a post it note inside saying what the set was and what pieces were missing (I do like to be organised ;))
This is what I ended up with:
I kept the sets on the first playmodb link and the second lot was going to be sold. Many generous playmofriends made purchases (thanks guys) and the rest went on eBay over the last month in time for Christmas and as of yesterday have all been sold. :)
It was lovely seeing some of the sets in Elaine's exhibition but my favourite story was from selling the mansion with room sets on eBay. A grandmother bought it for her granddaughter because it was the house that her daughter always wanted. I thought that was really cute.
Other unusual things were sending the viking sets to Argentina and some horses to Spain.
It's been a new experience for me and if I had the time one I think I would enjoy doing again.
And in case you were wondering the 'profits' so to speak were well spent on a 5305 with extension floor that I have been coveting for ages. ;D

You must be the luckiest person ever!!! What I'd give to buy a large collection like that!
-
THE SUPERMARKET!? THE GRAND MANSION!? Ugh.
I'd KILL to have a collection like that! <*)
-
Wow! That's such a great lot!!! How lucky!!! :)9
-
Great looking lot, I just do not see how you could have had it all and then sold it :o
