Title: English and other languages on Klickywelt
Post by: Playmofool on May 13, 2011, 19:14:33
I'm sorry for this one, because I really forgot about it for months.

Gordon and others asked me about the possibility of changing the "forum" language on Klickywelt.

At least since Klickywelt is updated, you can change the language setting in the personal section of your profile.

You first go to "Persönlicher Bereich" in the top right corner (See image 1).

Then you change your language preferences by clicking on the section "Einstellungen" (Left margin - step 2 in image2). Then you change the language in the pull-down menu in the line "Meine Sprache" (step 3 in image2).

Others languages include British English, Dutch, French and Spanish.

I hope this is going to help you all those who haven't found out by themselves yet.

I have been a minimal member on klickywelt for awhile, although when it was reformatted it took some time for me to reactivate my account and it took some help from playmofriends here to help me navigate it; the customs are wonderful, even the avatars are so creative.  I use Google translator to read the posts periodically, but mostly I just enjoy the photos.

Thanks, Playmofool - that is truly very helpful!

A lot of us signed up in order to be able to see the pictures posted there.  It is a bit of trial and error but not too difficult to get signed up, if you wish to do so.

Thank you for this information! Now I can see what others are saying! ;D

Unfortunately, it does not translate the posts, just the forum framework.  I have been using the Bing translator in Internet Explorer (you just right-click on the webpage that you want translated and select "Translate with Bing") and Firefox probably has something similar.  It isn't perfect but you can get the general idea of the conversations.   :)

Selbst werde ich die Einstellungen aber auf Deutsch behalten.  ;)

Sorry for not being precise enough in the first post. Of course, the German posts are not translated, but at least all buttons and explanations change to the language chosen.

Using a translater is probably the best way to get an idea of what is going on in a thread. Never hesitate to submit your own posts in English. Most members will understand you and try to answer your questions.

Yeah, I never have bothered with klickywelt either.... I find the format of the forum complicated, but maybe if it were in english I could figure it out.

Many thanks for this!
I have a small question: everytime I log in (my cookies are on). I ask klickywelt to remember my password. But everytime I go there I have to login again! Is this a fault or a feature!

To all you naysayers:German is very close to dutch and english. If you just read it with a dictionary you learn a lot of words fast . Learning a language whilst doing your hobby, How great is that.

You're right, I probably would pick it up. My parents both speak german, and when I was little, my dad would speak to me in german and I would understand what he was saying, because it is similar to english.

I can look at many German words & translate them just from years of going to Ebay.de. I find the language quite fascinating! It's too bad the built in translator doesn't do the entire forum! :(

It is amazing how easily you can pick up another language. I am trying to teach Collin Spanish, and I am amazed at how quickly he is learning. He pretty much understands everything I say when I speak to him in Spanish even though he answers in English most of the time. I have only been teaching him for a couple of months. Anyway, learning some basics of another language is always a nice idea because you never know who you might meet.

I'm sure most of you probably already knew this but  I just googled klickywelt, and next to their website link was a magnifying glass and [translate this page]....click on [translate this page] and it directs you to klickywelt.com and it translates all the pages AND the language of the posts into English. Not good English, but English nonetheless.

On the logins - I always have to use IE, for some reason Firefox just doesn't work with the login page properly.
