I have been buying from playmobilusa for several months. I pay with my argentine VISA and the stuff is shipped to a friend's of mine in Long beach california.
so since yesterday Im trying to buy a lot of stuff and I can't pay. I contacted them and they ask me to call them (which means that they didn't even read what I sent them)
when I wrote them back they answered in a very bad manner, that they don't accept foreign credit cards! and they don't ship outside usa. DID THEY READ WHAT I WROTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Who said I want the stuff sent to buenos aires???? and how the heck I have done several purchases before with my cc?????
WHo is this people in customers service????????????
>:( >:( >:( >:( >:(
sorry i need to take this out of my system. anyone else have something to complain about..... I mean share? :'(

That is so strange, that they have changed so suddenly. ??? ??? ??? If they accepted it before, why not now? Weird. They really need to work on customr service. What did they say exactly? Were they rude?
-
Unfortunately they really don't have time for emails usually.
They are very understaffed.
The parts department only has 2 people working at it. :o

I felt it harsh.... very cold answer. ""We do not accept foreign credit cards and we do not ship outside usa!" that's all.... very cold and robotic. :(
or Im too sensitive
-
Oh well, you found a solution. ;D
-
i'd be p****d too...and i wonder why they're so inflexible (not to mention unfriendly) with their southern neighbors...we're good customers too after all >:(
i used to buy my playmobil from the USA website too a few years ago, but then they starting to accept US-billing credit cards only (i never had my purchases shipped directly to me in Mexico but to an address in California, where one of my best friends lives)
as a consequence i couldn't purchase from them anymore but i eventually found a very good seller in that state who i buy all my current-catalog sets from...i get the same prices as playmobil USA with her and her service is excellent. I don't need the website's service anymore except for DS parts

would she sell to me too? :-[

yeah, she ships worldwide, i can give you her email if you want me too - i don't think she owns a retail store but she's got most sets Playmobil has on their website (add-ons too). At least she's got everything i need everytime i send a request
I know her since 2004ish and i guarantee that's she's very trustworthy
PS if i were you i would write to Playmobil (or to whomever those people's superiors are) explaining you'd been a repeat customer and that the treatment you got from them was not the one you expect from a company like Playmobil...

Clearly they did NOT read carefully if they thought you were shipping outside the US (since the “SHIP TO” address should be right there), but as to the “Foreign Credit Cards” issue they have something resembling a not totally invalid point; It only needs to be a fake card one time for them to get tired of it.
No, I’m not saying you did it (you’re HERE, so you couldn’t be “that guy”). You’re just being PUNISHED for what “that guy” did.

yeah I see your point. but it also could be an american fake card
one thing to clear out.... there is a sign in playmobilusa saying that they dont' accept cards with foreign billing addresses (it has been there always)... so how could I make 4 or 5 purchases and now I can't? was a problem with their system? anyway... sad I can't buy anymore.
-
I've had bad experience with them as well...just last week. The lady would barely answer my questions and I could tell she was making up answers to get rid of me, even contradicting herself in the process. 8} I ended up asking to talk to the manager; she would not let me! Finally she let me talk to him (hanging up on me in the process) but to this day I am not positive the guy really was the manager....Everything was so weird!
-
They should fire them all and hire people from here. We promise to increase their sales!

I tried to use a US issued credit card to purchase in Canada and it will not work. I do not think they are tying to be rude it is just that they have legal issues that if any fraud is found it is more difficult to pursue seeing as international boundaries have been crossed in the transaction.
playmobil is understaffed as mentioned and they just get right down to business with little chit chat, it has over the years become short and bitter, but thankfully still open for business
I would suggest using your friends credit card since it has a US billing address
-
after all what are friends for ;D

Exactly. ;)

Then they’d have a physical address in the US they could report to the FBI.

They weren’t paying enough attention before. Their bad was your gain.

And I bet THREE people here have already volunteered for the job; I would, except that I don’t have a credit card.
-
There is a similar problem with Playmobil Hellas and email or telephone orders... they do not accept cc.... but they do accept them at the funpark... their answer is ''our policy has changed for orders over the phone and email... sorry but you'll have to accept it...''
Go figure...
-
Exactly. ;)
;) ;) ;)
yeah thank you guys!
I used a good friend's cc
but you know it is bummer! I can't trouble someone else each time I want to buy something...anyway...why was I born here?

Something that can be discussed I am sure ... especially for well known collectors and big buyers like us surely that phone transaction should pose a problem... Will look into this ... ;)
-
Gastón, do you still want my seller's contact info?
They should fire them all and hire people from here. We promise to increase their sales!
seriously that'd be one of the best solutions ;D i wonder if any playmobil fan/collector has ever worked at PM? ??? :)

Thank you George!! I hate staying in the que of the bank and make a deposit to Playmobil Hellas account everytime I need something from them, when I can gain some time with the cc transaction.

the fraud thing totally makes sense, but when it comes to a customer service deparment good service/treatment (aka a friendly tone) is always nice
-
Are they accepting PayPal yet? If not they need to be. That is the obvious solution to this problem. This is one of the things we are hoping to get fixed with a collectors club. Finding a way for international customers to purchase from Playmobil easily.
Also - was this the parts department, or the regular sets and add-ons? They are handled by different people.

Yes it does but have you ever worked in one of these departments. Some of these people have worked there a long time and I can only imagine how annoying it must get after so long. I worked in a parts department of a John Deere dealer and wow did it get annoying quickly. These were selling parts to people whose lively hoods were at stake so they got aggressive. With the parts of playmobil parents are trying to sooth their golden child beast or even worse a nut job collector calls and acts like his whole life is at stake for some toy parts

The only problem with this is the fees. Credit card companies are trying to recoup losses from defaults so they slowly creep up the fees to the other clients. PayPal also charges
When I was accepting Visa/MasterCard I was charged a percentage of the sale and a monthly fee for the machine. If the percentage cuts into your bottom line you start looking for ways to get around these, like free band transfers. Even Paypal encourages buyers to not use credit cards so they can avoid the fees. At the end of the month it adds up when you do a lot of volume

No they don't accept paypal That would be great!!!!
it was the regular sets and add-ons. Never tried with parts actually.

DS Germany doesn't accept PP or international cc :'(.

EDIT: I meant Collectors Club.

Fan Club…
I think a fan club would be for general public but a Collectors Club should have better privileges than general civilians. We are nuts after all ;D
