Title: Greek Collector's Exhibition at Playmobil Athens !!!!!!
Post by: Giorginetto on March 29, 2011, 11:56:22
I just spoke to Mrs Effraimidi the Marketing Manager of Playmobil Greece , she is really happy we are getting our DS orders and i thanked her once again for her crucial help. I am going to playmobil next week to pick up some more klickies ( redcoats perhaps..  ) and I shall also give her a bottle of fine champagne as a thanks

With reference to a Greek collector's exhibition she suggests the following. The Greek members please give all these points spome serious thought and get back to me with your thoughts and ideas. I have already said I am in to Mrs Effraimidi .
I quote from her email :

'   Regarding the “collectors’ exhibition” at the FunPark I want to suggest the following:
•   You agree between your collector friends, which one of you sets what up.
•   We clear the contents from the attached trains display. Outer dimensions 2,77 x 1,56 cm
•   We set it in the FunPark entrance
•   You set up a part from your construction. It will be sheltered by the Plexiglas cover. With lighting. Motion is available.
•   We arrange labels, banners and a internet promotion.
•   Suggested GO day week 37.

I doubt George is in a position to move all that steck especially since its already set up.... perhaps we can make three or four little castles, one for each faction, and knights, i hope you still have some loose steck George for a small castle.... 2,77 x 1,56 sounds, and looks, very good!!! I've just opened the measuring tape!!!

Or we can totally forget the castle and build up something else... a western town maybe?

I just feel it would be better to do something with a theme that is not very recent, like the egyptians or romans, as I have a feeling it would not draw much attention... my thought anyway...

ideas ideas ideas....

Thank you Bonnie!!! A dream coming true!!!  ;)

You know, if you all will pardon my butting in :-[ , it is a very good idea to do a western diorama. Because if it were to generate a lot of attention, and this was seen by some of playmobil's "people" there, maybe they would consider dusting off those molds and bringing back that theme.

I have 50 pieces(70'-early 80's) cavarlry units(antiques).I have given them a fitness test some months ago.But my opinion is a medieval siege them.I have the bad guys, george has the steck amount you have the sentry guard.Inside the castle George has a town and you can give a look of the throne room with the knights. Also i will have until then 20-30 Orks. We need something amazing for start and we have an amazing medieval collection.

!!!!!I'm not going to participate in any non war and non violence theme!!!!!!

I cant touch the medieval set up angelo..... we can do western, confederate/union cowboys/indians or eguptians/romans , or romans/gauls ..... i dont want to ruin my set up its gonna take me a total of about 6 months to have it all ready and complete for photostories etc etc

Sorry guys but i'm still believing that the western diorama is not a good idea...! ???
It would be better to use the palisade forts with romans and our armies of vikings as Gauls or Germans invaders.

Also if we want to make a medieval diorama me and wolf have enough steck pieces....
also we have and a real army... ;D

Why not? Its ''a blast from the past'' and many grown ups will show interest as most of them have already been affected by a western movie and a playmobil cowboy!  ;)

Romans vs gauls sounds exciting but its a theme very recent and maybe people will not be too trilled by it... still it worths discussing it!

your third opinion is also good! Yes we still have a lot of steck but George will not be able to move any klickies at alll, if they are engaged in defending the kingdom of Krull!

In my Cavarly units you can see the travel through time of Geobra's plastic.Only 5 or six figures have the new body colour turnable hands(palms). The oldest of them  my General has a dark blue coloured torso. Also their light blue pants have become a little yellow trough the years. They must be Museum excibits for Playmobil. But they are upgraded with belts for swords and hand guns.

In our next meeting the greek members that will participate with klickies and sets and their effort to set up ( Alex, playmojaeger will you join ???)  can discuss which diorama to set and what each will and can bring . I dont wish to take off the den any of my mediaval set up i am sure yuo all undertsand thats a massive 6 month project that has cost me probably many $$$$$ so far . But I am happy to bring along wither westernh, romans, egyptians ( still all boxed !!!) and maybe even pirates ( i  have 3 big isalnds and about 12 ships after all !!! ) , lets discuss this in our next meeting that we shall set up sometime in MAy i think will be a good idea after easter etc etc . Who knows it might take place near my den  ;) ;) ;) !!!!!!!

Angelo we can show your unit as if they are retiring and the new cavalry unit seting up at the fort! The new men will pay honours to the old guard  ;)

I can understand George's problem that is why I am more inclined to the western diorama.

A meeting to discuss all this is a very good idea!!

Many congratulations on getting this slot!! It's great to see things are moving.

I however do want to quell some of your excitement with all your planning (I am really sorry)  because the dimensions or really not that big. The dimensions given are 1,56x2,77 which is 4,3212 m^2 the dimensions of our playmotable are 1,8x2,4 which is 4,32 m^2. It is really not that big. I think Sir Wolf's Medieval is MORE THEN ENOUGH to fill this. It really is not that big with the collections you guys have.

Sorry for being a pessimist realist, but I don't want you guys to pool all your western collection and then find you can only use like 20%.

I am really excited for you guys and anxious to see which way you are going.

I think Sir Gis has made some very valid points. When we meet next we will discuss in details how we shall fill and with what the 4m2 which we will  have available . I still think we ought to go for western and help this way our cause to bring it back. Steck is coming back through 3441 so i think thats done.

I have about 6-8 western houses, 7-8 forts, quite a few union and confederate soldiers about 50 each i think, about 60 indians or so , a mint wetsern train and a MISB wind thingie, eerrr quite a few wagons, cannons etc and quite a few very old cavalry soldiers though i cant remember how many !!! If we decide to go for western I am sure some more will be available  ( espeically confederates which i really like ) from me between our may meeting and September's display !!!!
