Combinations of red and gold were very popular with many Samurai armies.
Yamagata Masakage (1524 – 1575) of the Takeda clan, always had his samurai cavalry charge first, sowing confusion and panic, followed by drums and a whole screaming army of blood-red Ashigaru(foot soldiers) waving a sea of red banners...a blood curdling sight for enemies ;D
Ii Naomasa (1561-1602) 'LORD OF THE RED DEVILS', One of Ieyasu's bravest generals had huge golden horns on his helmet, like a demon on the battlefield which he would pay for at Sekigahara where he was seriously wounded by snipers.
I decided to post this almost finished band of ashigaru (not historically accurate) wearing bright red lacquered lamella-type dou(breast plate) and iron (helmet)jingasa since the end result will be the same. (while waiting for more black head covers and spraying more sandalled feet).
Kato Kiyosama's JANOME(snake's eye) mon(crest) could have been used to evoke fear in his enemies :P

As Panos says, great customs again, cheng. Mind you, the unfinished ones look a bit angry about being shown just now! Maybe you'd better show us the finished group all together later.
