OK, well here's my idea. Let's see if you guys think it's a good one.
In this thread I want people to post pictures they take of their klickies out in the "real" world. Not at home, surrounded by their little plastic comforts, but out among the "big people." Take em with you vacation, sightseeing, to work, wherever! Just take a picture of them to share with the rest of us. And if you can get a picture of yourself with them, that is cool too!
I am going to get us started with some older pictures that I have taken during vacations or trips with my little guys. Many of you will have seen them before elsewhere, but they will be new to some of you. And hopefully they will inspire you do the same.
First off are some pictures of Blackbeard battling for his life, where else, but on Ocracoke Island, N.C., where the real Edward Teach was hunted down and killed by Royal Navy Lt. Robert Maynard.
-
Next up - Captain Henry, and his friend Manolo the legionnaire, travel to Jacksonville, Fla., for Super Bowl XXXIX. They saw the stadium, and also got to hang out at the hotel pool!
-
And lastly, an example of some images with a little photo editing work done (and one before and after example). Don't be shy - altering the photos is perfectly acceptable and if you think it'll make the photo better, go for it!
-
That's a good idea, Cap'n. I'll join you. :)
-
Yes!!! Count me in! :D
It's a long time since I took photos of my klickies outside, but I will try and remember to take some with me next time I'm going somewhere interesting. I almost always have my camera with me, because it fits so easily in my bag. :yup:
Great photos, Henry! Thanks for coming up with this idea. :)9
-
Hello CH
This is a great idea !! You can also count me in. I will try to get some pictures taken at work.
Kindest Regards Tim
-
Hello, Cap'n Henry ...
Since "Tim Dawkins" is still in the land of the Pirates, he asked me to send along these photos of him on the Island of St. Thomas in the US Virgin Islands ... ;)
The first picture shows Mr. Dawkins pointing in the direction of the house that belongs to his friend Richard.
The next picture shows Tim at his favourite hangout ... "Crown Point" ... :arrr:
-
next photo
-
Then Mr. Dawkins went to town and wanted his picture taken again ... :)
-
Then on the way home he spotted a cruise ship docked at Havensight!
Mr. Dawkins kept asking, "Aaargh ... Now where do they be storin' the sails for that fine lookin' ship?" ... :arrr:
I soon gave up trying to explain ...
A GREAT idea (these real life photos), Cap'n Henry !!!
All the best to you and your family (and especially to your lovely wife on this special day),
Richard

Very cool! I love the pictures so far - this is excellent, exactly the kind of thing I was hoping to inspire. Thanks Richard and Andi, and I cannot wait to see more contributions!
So, to keep things fresh, a couple more from me.
Today is Mother's Day so the kids and I took Krista out to her favorite Japanese steakhouse. Needless to say, Captain Henry tagged along! If any of you have been to these types of things before, you know you sit at a communal table - the looks we got were great! :D:D:D Some things just cannot be explained to people...
So here are two shots, one with a steam cloud, and the other when the chef lit the cooking table on fire! CH was singed but unharmed! :D
-
Hmmm ... Looks like Andi's Vikings are invading Europe ... ;)
Great fotos, Andi !!!
OK, Henry ... It looks like the challenge is on ... ;)
Who can take a picture of a Klicky in the real world where no Klicky should be? ... ;D
(We must remember that children visit this site!)
I am setting out with Tim Dawkins and my camera. See y'all later ... :)
All the best,
Richard
-
Is that your boat moored behind Tim on the second photo, Richard?
I've never been to a Japanese restaurant, Henry, but it seems quite a dangerous place for klickies! I hope everyone enjoyed their meals. :)
Beautiful viking pics, Andi. Very atmospheric! 8-)
Who can take a picture of a Klicky in the real world where no Klicky should be? ... ;D
(We must remember that children visit this site!)
Hmmm... yes. I'm sure some of us have seen pics that fit your proviso but wouldn't be suitable for posting here. ;)

The "Bodensee" is internationally also known as "Lake of Constance" just for those who are not aware about what talking (sorry Andi, I don't want to be smart-alecky or self-opinionated, I just want to make some advertising for this great place -- I lived on its west side my whole childhood/youth/schooltime, so there is a personal relationship to it ... *sniff* ... has been really nice there ...)
-
Lake Constance I've heard of, the Bodensee I hadn't. I knew, roughly, that Lake Constance is south Germany, but the Bodensee sounded sort of Baltic to me. Geography not alway a strong point! :'(

Hi Little Jo,
The "Bodensee" is internationally also known as "Lake of Constance" just for those who are not aware about what talking (sorry Andi, I don't want to be smart-alecky or self-opinionated, I just want to make some advertising for this great place -- I lived on its west side my whole childhood/youth/schooltime, so there is a personal relationship to it ... *sniff* ... has been really nice there ...)

The "Bodensee" is internationally also known as "Lake of Constance" ...
Hello, Jochen ...
I don't think that Cap'n Henry will object to our straying slightly "off topic" to discuss a wonderful place like Lake Constance/Konstanz.
The town of Konstanz (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Konstanz) is one of my favourite places in the entire world! And, would be a great place to do some picture taking with Playmobil Klickys!
Konstanz (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Konstanz) is one of the few places in Germany that was virtually untouched by the Second World War. Only about a kilometre from the Swiss border, Konstanz (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Konstanz) was used as a place for prisoner exchange throughout the war. Because of this, there are many original buildings dating back hundreds of years that would be perfect to use for Klicky fotos ... :)
BTW ... Lake Constance (Bodensee) is not a land-locked lake! It is the beginning of the Rhine!
So ... Andi and Jochen ... How about some Klicky pictures from Konstanz (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Konstanz)?
All the best,
Richard

When Hans the travelling klicky came to visit Inverness in the summer of 2003, we took him with us on holiday to Orkney. I took quite a lot of photos with him in them, but mostly he just appears from behind, as a spectator, so they're not particularly interesting Playmo shots.
Here's a snapshot of him taken at John o' Groats (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_O'Groats), the most northerly town in Great Britain. :)
-
Also got some pictures i had taken when Hans was here in 2003. Don't think i ever got to post them.
Here's Hans at the Blue Lagoon in Comino (3rd Maltese island). Behind him you can see a 17th century fort built by the knights. Whoever saw the "Count of monte Cristo".... that's the supposedly "Chateau D'If".
-
Here's Hans exploring a long-lost temple. The natives weren't of course too happy ;)
The 3rd pic shows the actual altar the picture was taken on.
This temple is called 'Tarxien Temple' and is one of the many on the island. Dates to around 3,600BC.
-
Here's more pics of Hans running about. Can you spot him hiding?
The first picture shows part of a statue of the Temple People's goddess, the Goddess of Fertility.
-
Last is a pic of Hans by a war-memorial(?). One can see the tiny island of Filfla there.
Filfla was a bit larger originally. It had a chapel and although small even had a fresh water spring. It was mostly popular with mediterranean pirates. The Maltese knights eventually destroyed the spring to stop the arrival of pirates.
Filfla was reduced to its current size in WorldWarII, when dear Churchill used to use it as a firing aim. It is now a natural reserve.
-
So ... Andi and Jochen ... How about some Klicky pictures from Konstanz (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Konstanz)?
Maybe I can make it the next time visiting my parents :D (Konstanz is not far from their hometown)
-
Also got some pictures i had taken when Hans was here in 2003.
Thanks for the really cool photos, Brian ...
Maybe I can make it the next time visiting my parents :D (Konstanz is not far from their hometown)
That would be great, Jochen ...
I think that everyone would enjoy seeing a Klicky's view of Konstanz.
All the best,
Richard

Thanks everyone for the wonderful photos!
Tiermann: Where did you take yours? The mountains are beautiful!
Gordon: I LOVE the photo of Miss Cis on the hilt of the large scale knight's sword - the contrast is remarkable.
-
Thanks Henry, those were taken at the top of Skinner's Butte in Eugene Oregon. It is about a half hour hike tot he top formthe parking lot in the park. I try to go there as often as possible, it's a fun hike and the view is great. it's the highest point at this end of the valley.
Here are a couple from Miss Cis' adventure here:

I think you may have started a new craze there - diving off the stone in front of the tower into the stream. :)
-
Hello, Andi ...
Did you have to get down in the gutter to take the first picture?
And, the last picture ... is it bye, bye Klicky? ...
Great pictures, Andi! I love Freiburg!
Thank you and all the best,

Hi all,
We just got back from a little 1400 mile jaunt to my home town in Nevada. Went to see Mom.
There is a whole lot of sand and sagebrush between Mesa, Arizona and Yerington, Nevada. I got a couple of pictures that might be interesting if not scenic.
The picture of the little traveler on the hood of my truck is at our house in Mesa, just before we left.
The next one is at Hoover Dam, the Nevada-Arizona border.
The one of the desert is my old "back yard" I spent much of my youth roaming those hills and many more in the area.
The last one is along the river bank of the Walker River, just a few miles from our old Ranch.
We drove almost 700 miles the first day, but took the return trip in two days.
Enjoy!
-
Thanks, Jimbo ...
Unless you've been there, it's hard to believe that the land is so big !!!
The "Traveler" looks like he really belongs by the Walker River ... :)
Having spent the past 30 years in Texas, I know how important those two six-guns are ... ;)
Thanks again for sharing the "Traveler's" trip with us.
All the best,
Richard
-
:) wonderful idea captain.
in the end of july i am going on vacation to the azores islands (in the middle of the north atlantic) and i will try to take one of my pirates with me.
i think i will try to photograph him in the formigas islets (a bunch of rocks in the middle of the sea, with only a small lighthouse, 10 hours sailing from the main islands, surrounded by blue sharks and manta rays).
i hope by then i will remember to buy a new usb cable.
again, a great idea. :)
-
Jimbo made me feel a bit guilty for being so lazy ...
And, it's a beautiful day on the Atlantic coast here in South Florida ...
So, I took a couple of photos of "Redbeard" the notorious pirate while he's visiting Fort Lauderdale ... ;)
-
photo 2
-
Here's Redbeard looking for his ship ...
-
For those of you who might be curious ,,,
Here's a picture showing how I take photos while hanging out of a window on the eighth floor ... :)
-
Thanks for the great pictures everyone!
Jimbo - i like the pic by the Hoover Dam. I am fortunate enough to have seen it in person when I drove cross country - I drove back from Vegas to Virginia in 48 hours (oh, to be young and crazy again!). I am waiting now til my kids are just a little bit older to make the trip again, with the family, as part of our homeschool education! And Richard is absolutely right, the scale of the landscape out West is VAST!
Cachalote - can't wait to see the pictures from the Azores! It sounds like my kind of place - beautiful and isolated!
Richard - Very cool photos of Redbeard! I especially like the lighting in the third one - it is terrific. And a very clever way to take a photo of Redbeard out the window!
-
These pictures are great. It is so nice to see all the different areas/enviroments everyone comes from. Very cool ruins in Brians pics. These pictures have made me want to go on vacation.
-

Hi Customizer, Tiermann, and all.
What great photos!
Very inspiring.
Here are a couple of pictures of Porco Rosso when he was kidnapped by my daughter and son-in-law and taken to Las Vegas.
One is the obligatory one at Hoover Dam, the other is by the fireboat at the New York, New York hotel/casino.
Porco was safely returned...

Cap'n Henry, you started a really GREAT thread !!!
Thanks for the graphic of Disneyland, Tim. It's often difficult from photos to know whether it's the Anahiem or Orlando park. Great photos BTW ... :)
And, Andi ... your Klickys seem to be everywhere ...
And, Jimbo ... I'm glad that Porco enjoyed his tour of Hoover Dam and Las Vegas ... And, that he returned home safely ... ;)
As you can see from my avatar, I am no longer in the tropics ... ;)
I am posting this from beautiful Vancouver Island on Canada's west coast.

Very cool firefighter photos Andi! And tiger I like your Vikings! And Richard, that is quite a panoramic view you have there - beautiful!
This week I am in Indianapolis for a NASCAR auto race, so here is Captain Henry standing in front of the pole where they list the positions of the drivers. It is not very good, but it is tough to find a really good angle to shoot from.
-
It's a GREAT picture of Cap'n Henry ... :arrr:
We don't need to see anything else ...
Have a wonderful time at the races, Cap'n Henry ... :)
-
Howdy all,
We went to the Desert Botanical Gardens in Phoenix, Az. recently.
Here is a picture of a klicky in a sticky situation!
-
although i missed my objective to photograph this pirate in the formigas islets, i still got a picture of him with s. miguel island in the back.
i took it quite near the shore while circum-navigating the island in the sailing boat i chartered.
we got a bit of rough seas trying to sail to formigas and s.ta maria island and my girlfriend got seasick.
so we came back and sailed the atlantic close to shore, looking for small harbours to lay anchor.
this pirate was always on board and never got seasick...
-
Great picture Cachalote! And what a beautiful island, looks like a great place to careen the ship and gather supplies in preparation for another round o' pillaging! ;)
-
yes, captain henry, s. miguel is a very beautiful island.
:) there are 4 very piratical special places where you can careen your ship - capelas, praia dos moinhos and porto formoso in the north coast and caloura in the south.
^-^ you can always stay at the ponta delgada or vila franca marina for a more conventional gathering of supplies (i personally prefer the first option)
-
Porco Rosso hitched a ride to Niagara Falls and Cape Cod with his new buddies,
Dave and Maddy.
Here are a few pictures of his adventure.
-
More Porco adventures....
The last two pictures are of Dave and Maddy, son in law and daughter of Jimbo ;D
Enjoy,
Jimbo
-
Thanks for the pics Jimbo! I have not been to Niagara Falls since I was a kid, and need to go back now that I have young'uns of my own.
And thanks for showing us "second-generation" klickies - those kids look very much in love! :D
-
Great pictures, Jimbo ...
Please thank the "kids' ... :)
-
As some of you may know, a couple of weeks ago I was on my yearly vacation to the Outer Banks of North Carolina, where real-life pirates prowled the seas hundreds of years ago. In fact, one of our favorite places to go is Ocracoke Island, which is where Blackbeard met his end.
There is a little Blackbeard museum on the island, and this year we went in. Well, much to my surprise, I found a little display that I thought you all might find interesting...
-
In addition, on the Outer Banks they have this art display, where there have horses and ponies painted in different styles and with different motifs. This painted pony in Duck, N.C., caught my eye, and I could not quite figure out why, until I got a lot closer... look familiar? :D
-
Hello, Cap'n Henry ...
Were you able to talk to the Playmobil fan who had put these displays together?
All the best,
Richard
-
Nope. As soon as I took the pictures of the museum display, the battery died in my camera! :) And, I was spending most of the time chasing my own little pirates around... ;)
-
You're little pirates are really cute ... :arrr:
I can understand why you didn't have time to solve the mystery. Especially, after chasing my own two around for so many years ...
-
There is a little Blackbeard museum on the island, and this year we went in. Well, much to my surprise, I found a little display that I thought you all might find interesting...
:omg: Wow, that's cool. But for sure also clear: how should they depict the party? There hadn't been any cameras those days around. The PM is the really only option to make a scenery like this ;D
