Facinated from the new rescue sets released end of February 2006, I recognized that except the rescue dogs squad (4227) all teams have a vehicle to transport people and equipment. That time also a red off-road vehicle (7617 dune buggy) was available as add-on to the adventure theme from Playmobil Direct Service. Immediatly it was clear to me, this is the perfect transportation vehicle for the rescue dogs team. At the same time I also spotted a service at the Internet offering individual decals (www.andreas-nothaft.de (http://www.andreas-nothaft.de/)), which would be the perfect supplementation for the buggy to become a rescue vehicle. So I designed a logo for the squad (based on the new rescue logo) and ordered it in different sizes and colors from the decals service.

The picture above is a close-up shot of the emblem on the dog shirt and shows the high resolution of the decals printing machine — even it is just about 6 mm in diameter the text can be read easily. I've created two types of logos: one unicolor in white for red backgrounds and one in multicolor (red, white, black) for light backgrounds, mainly white or silver. Beneath the already shown logo on the dog shirts, I also supplied the klicky's overalls with the emblem on their arms (can be better seen on the photo below). The vehicle itself got a big one on its hood and two small ones on the rear sides. The spare wheel cover is just a self-made print-out on photo paper as well as the license plates.

That's a great set (it's on my-to-buy list for next year) and your touches just finish it off perfectly. The rescue vehicle is a brilliant idea, too. (Maybe at last a use for the old red jeep I have in the loft!)
The decals look to be of a very high quality. If the site will supply abroad, then Tim_W and I may have a few problems solved, too. :)

Pst ;), I already talked to the man about this because I assumed (even expected) that some here would ask for this service too when seeing the results and quality ;D ... and he told me, if you write to him in German or English it shouldn't be a problem :)
BTW, I ordered a complete A4 sheet full of them, so they will occur step by step on my next projects too (not the rescue dogs squad logo, but different ones :yup:).

Many thanks for mentioning the possibility of foreign orders, Jo.
BTW, excellent photos of the rescue team. Is the sky put in afterwards?

Looks like a nice photo backdrop to me.
Those are great Jochen. Can you tell me if the new beagle type dog has a parts number? I think it is a different color (tan) than has been done before (yellow, black, beagle tricolor). The version they showed in the very first photos was a new mold but it looks like they went for a recolor. I hope to see that other dog eventually, perhaps in next year's releases.
I have tried printing my own decals on decal paper before. It would be worth it to order online - probably cost less and be more professional than anything I can do at home.

Nice job all around Jochen!
The red Jeep looks great with the rescue dog set, and the decals are superb. Bravo!
(And thanks for the link to the decal maker - I am sure he can do a better job than I can making decals!)

First of all, thank you for the praise.
I also thought that I can make my own decals and experimented with decals paper and my ink color printer (which I thought already has a high resolution) -- for some purposes it worked out quite good (e.g. for the banner and road sign of my Joan of Arc (http://www.jr-x.de/playmobil/customizing/joanofarc.html)) --, but that's no comparison in quality and resolution to that stuff. And for sure white I can not print with my home printer ;D
And it is even less tricky in handling because with the self-printable decals paper in combination with ink printer usage you have to be very careful and first have to paint the printed motive with glossy paint so that the color does not vanish when dipping it into water.
Yes Tim, the dog has a number (I assume, because there comes a plan with this set); I'll look it up for you when I'm back home.
So anyway, I'm quite satisfied with the result of this activity.

The system for the decals must be different from one I tried over here with a company as they couldn't do white. In addtion, where you were putting a decal on a darkl surface, e.g. the grey of the firemen's suits or the red fire engine, the colour underneath tended to show through.
This sytem you've found really sounds good. :)

Wow!
I agree – the vehicle really matches well with the figures. Very good choice! :D
And the customisation by the addition of logos to the vehicle and klickies looks perfect in every detail, as always. 8-)
Thanks for sharing your ideas with us, Jochen. :)

Hello Little Jo
Thank you for showing us your wonderfull custom. I was really impressed with the decals and must take this opportunity to thank you for mentioning us to the supplier. I have been looking for suitable decals for my fire service for quite a long time now.
Kindest Regards Tim

Sorry Gordon , missed this entry completely :-[
No, there is no photo manipulation on these pictures -- as nearly every time in my Playmobil pictures (apart from cropping and scaling); the sky is taken from modell railroad supply. It's a large roll with only sky printed on it. It's a little bit blur because I used a long focal length so depth of field isn't large (although I tried to compensate with a small aperture combined with long exposure time -- about 3-4 seconds).

Oh yes, I've also looking for this quite a long time (to be accurate since the Jan 19th 2005 ;D). My very first customizing, after I had rediscovered my faible to Playmobil, I never showed because an important detail was missing due to the lack of a suitable decals -- now I have it , so it will be shown here in several days ;)

The sky is very effective, Jochen. What scale is it - O, G - and who makes it, please? You can't get rolls of sky over here, just small sheets which you have to join and which don't always match in shade!
Your last sentence is a real cliff-hanger!

It's from Vollmer (http://www.vollmer-kit.de/) and called "Sceneic background-clouds" article no. 6112 for H0+N; there are two sections included, together 280 cm long and 50 m in height; price should be between 12 and 20 Euros (depending on where you get it).
It took me also quite a while until I found such a piece in a shop. Maybe it can be ordered. If you like I can do some investigations on it and try to order it somewhere over here.
(Addition: some are offering this article over here on eBay for quite reasonable fixprice; international "bidders" are welcome, e.g. here (http://cgi.ebay.de/Vollmer-6112-H0-Hintergrund-Wolken_W0QQitemZ7398701775QQcategoryZ9967QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem))

Don't expect to much. It's quite a simple one ('cause it was one of my firsts) but -- as I think -- an effictve one which looks quite close to an original PM item. Maybe I can make it to setup a nice background for the figure this weekend so I can post some photos.
