Contrary to the German Boardmembers am I not that thrilled about them.
I think they don't have any connection to Christmas and most of the parts are allready there.
Sorry, but I guess I won't be buying any Advent calenders this year ...

I have to agree with Bogro. I don't see the Christmas connection and all of the pieces are already available. In fact the lady in the hooped skirt is sitting on top of my hard drive as i type. Would a snowman be out of the question. Also I note that Britain's the model soldier company now makes special sets for Christmas to go with their Civil War theme. the one I saw was of an officer at home for Christmas with his wife. Now this would be an easy vinaigrette for Playmo to produce

I agree that they lack the Christmas connection. The pink one doesn't interest me at all, but I will get the knight one for the horse livery and the hooded falcon. I see myself thinking of this as a regular set though and not something I would use as a calendar.

hear hear !!!
I would be interested in the plans for the partnumbers. But as a Advent set - :'(

Hmmm. IMO, I am not so sure that it does not work as a calendar. The thing to remember is that they are designed for kids, and for the most part - with my kids anyway - the joy of getting to open a new box each day is huge, and they won't care so much if it has a Christmas theme or not! :)
I can see both Merboy and Sirena just loving these two sets. And when they are done, they have additional parts they can use with their existing sets. While I liked the Christmas advent calendars, to me their usefulness was quite limited as soon as Christmas was over. (Besides, I already have more than a dozen Santa Clauses! :D)
And, as Tiermann said, I will probably get an extra of the medieval calendar just for the parts...
-
I doubt I will be getting either calendar.
There is nothing new to them, that I can spot.
And I prefer a holiday connection.
But CH is right.
They designed these two for girls and boys, not collectors.
They might do very well as calendars for kids.

I must say I agree with Bogro too. Not much to do with Christmas and few new parts. But still, I kinda like the knight-one... ;D

Hm, only interesting piece for me so far the hood of the falcon (I just have one in blue ...).
The "dress" (coat of arms) of the "King Knight" looks, pretty cool, but because I'm not with knight, this is less interesting for me.
I'm also a little bit confused about the icon logo of the advent calendar box (showing santa claus) and the contet itself. Maybe indeed parents and especially kids are fed up with this many father christmas -- as already said -- only "playable" for a few weeks. So these themes are for sure more timeless.
