There has been a lot of speculation about today’s matches. King Darnald has made sure that he has four equally valuable Magic Items for the four remaining champions so in that regards it is only about bragging rights and picking order.
In the first match today we see Sir Seamus Flynn, First Knight of Belathre take on Aziz bin Tarek. The crowd is really excited about this match and both jousters are supported from the stands. The ties between Winterhaven and Belathre do seem to make Sir Seamus a crowd favorite though.

Now before we continue to the match, here are a couple of messages:

Welcome back to the Semi Finals of the Winterhaven Jousting Tournament. The combatants are just lining up for their first run. The two jousters are full of confidence as both managed to win their last joust through a first run unhorsing. Their faces are full of determination and focus. Let’s turn to the action.
As the combatants clash, Sir Seamus hits Aziz on his shield scraping his lance horizontally across. Aziz dares to risk going to the inside of the shield and successfully manages to hit Sir Seamus in the stomach. Aziz will just need a shield hit to win the match so Sir Seamus has his work cut out for him.
Aziz is one 100% committed to hitting Sir Seamus’ shield and is willing to get hit on the shield in return. As his lance is about to connect with Sir Seamus’ shield, Sir Seamus thrusts his lance diagonally over Aziz’ shield. One of the riskiest moves seen in the entire tournament, but it pays of is he catches Aziz on his Aventail (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aventail), taking him straight of his horse.
Sir Seamus wins the match and goes on to the final. Aziz bin Tarek ends the tournament in third place, as he has gained 1 honour during the event, where as both competitors in the other Semi Final are at -1 honour.

Welcome back to Winterhaven where we just saw an exciting match that was narrowly clinched by Sir Seamus Flynn, First Knight of Belathre, beating the one of the none traditional combatants, Aziz bin Tarek.
Moving on to the upcoming match we will have another epic confrontation. Both Lord Vladimir of Piestany as well as Sir Adler of Saxony had a three run Quarter Final. Lord Vladimir was having a hard time dispatching a very defensively focused Sir Bart. Sir Adler was able to defeat Lord Etir with three straight shield hits, Lord Etir was not able to keep his concentration up during the last run and that was the difference.
Here they ride side by side through Winterhaven’s Gate.

Before we continue we will take a short message break.

Welcome back to the match that will decide who will face Sir Seamus Flynn in the finals. Both knights are ready and take of at breakneck speed.
Both men keep their shield out straight the whole way, but Lord Adler moves it slightly to the right at the last moment. Lord Vladimir can’t adjust his strike in time and misses. This surprise costs Lord Vladimir a hit on his own shield is he is not able to get it out of the way in time. There is no cause for concern yet as a shield is has proven to be hardly decisive in this tournament so far.
The second run of this match features a judgment error on Sir Adler’s side. Assuming Lord Vladimir would go for the same move, Sir Adler flicks his shield at the last moment. Lord Vladimir paying very close attention doesn’t fall for this and is still able to move his lance on the inside of Sir Adler’s shield. The resulting blow to the stomach lifts Sir Adler straight out of the saddle and on the field.
Lord Vladimir wins the match and will compete against Sir Seamus Flynn for the title. Sir Adler finishes fourth and will be left with the least desired magical item.

Great continuation of the tournament, Gis. Those adverts were wonderful - I was literally laughing out loud!
Oh, and thank you for the link to what an aventail is.

AMAZING TOURNAMENT!
I cannot wait to see the End! :omg:
-
i have thoroughly been enjoying the pageantry and excitement of the tournament, and am continually amazed by all of the time you have put into this gis, but i must admit, i love the ads. this is almost similar to the our american superbowl and the excitement generated by the commercials about ten years ago, such that people would, and still do, watch the superbowl just to see the ads (and in my case, be able to talk about them with everyone at work on monday). they continue to take a poll on the most popular superbowl commercials.
kaeth

Great work yet again Gis!!! Really great pics!! The idea of the advertisments is very clever!!!
Looking forward to the final!!!
-
Great bouts! Of course like all, I love the ads. Very funny and creative!
On to the finals!
Oh and racerX, (whispers: I don't think Aziz drinks alcohol, religion and all. ;)) maybe I'm wrong, we'll have to ask Ali Baba, speaking of which, where is he ::)? He has missed the whole tourny. Probably busy doing "real life" stuff.
-
Thank you all for you kind comments. It was Bill's remark in this post (http://www.playmofriends.com/forum/index.php?topic=6731.msg105206#msg105206) that triggered it.
It was Tiermannm that send me a PM asking if I thought it would be a good idea to do adds. So all credit for the adds need to go to Tim, and Bill for "suggesting" it!
-
Making the ads was a lot of fun. They are all so much the same it's easy to make fun of them. Great day on the field, I'm looking forward to the final
-
I almost missed these commercials since I TiVo'd this episode . The commercials are on the level of Super Bowl versions, Tim :)9! Another excellent episode, Gis! :wow:
-
Congratulations to Sir Seamus and Lord Vladimir,
This gets better and better Gis :wow:
Well done to Tim also, the ads were super.

He would love to, but he doesn't drink alcohol. El Jefe's rumour is correct. But a pint of milk will do him fine.

Indeed.
Real life stuff > lots! (should be in bed now, actually).
- going to be a dad for the second time in a couple of weeks. Lots to do. Stripped down a room and am busy doing it up.
- the wife isn't doing much at the moment, as she is often rather tired. See above. So, it's down to me doing the housekeeping
- busy at work. My department moved to another building this month.
It didn't keep me from acquiring lots of playmo though. :-)
Gis, I really enjoyed this tournament. Loved the ads!! Thankssssssssssssss!!!

Er, perhaps the half-crazed Irishman meant gingerale. Not likely, but perhaps. :-[
No matter...milk it is, my worthy fellow!

Am I lead to believe that I really heard these two words in the same sentence? :o :hmm:

As I said...not likely.

Finishing 4th out of 32 is a great blow to Sir Adler of Saxony, as he is his Duchy's champion. Nevertheless, he salutes his worthy opponents and Lord Vladimir who out-jousted him this day. :knight:
Wonderful ads, Gis and Tim!

Ginger hair, aye... Gingerale? Ummm... nay nay not so much. ;)
There is a joke, that I believe best explains what I am talking about.
Literally, it is one of the funniest jokes I have heard...
Lets see how many people here get it. ;)
Two Irishmen walk out of a bar.
-

That would never happen!*
*I'm of Irish descent myself, and proud of it, so no offense, anyone.

Nope. ;D

My grandmother was Irish on my mom's side, and my dad fell in with a crowd of Irish exchange students in college, and was friends for life with some of them. I can remember his best friend, Fanahan coming all the way from Ireland to visit us when I was little, and my dad playing the accordian while they danced jigs. So much fun. ;D
