Title: Football World Championship Figures
Post by: David on November 03, 2005, 06:53:55
Here are new football sets, available ??? soon.

The first pic shows an explanation of three symbols  saying where each figure is available.

The sets with a triangle will be on sale in D, A, and ?? H Maybe?

The sets with a star will be available in far more countries, including D. I can´t read the print I´m afraid.

The circle shows that the sets are NOT on sale in the countries named, unfortunately  D is included, but I can´t read most of the rest.

You will see that these figures are quite different from  the usual clicky. There shirts are different and their legs move.   So much potential  for customising.  I wonder what their bottoms look like!

I am disappointed that there arent as many female soccer players, and no international female players.

I am also saddened by only having right footed players. ;)

When these figures come out, will someone please tell us if it is possible to "crack" them open like other figures.

Hi Meg, btw. :)

In general, the collection of international players is pretty much disappointing.
Clearly, there is the lack of a turkish team, so there will be no mediterrean
skin tone available...
The really surprising thing about these females is that they will be not available
in the US and CAN, where for sure female soccer is much more popular than
somewhere else in the world...

I completely agree. Being a left footed soccer player I am very upset about
this as well...   ;D

So, by accident, on last weeks big member meeting of the german board in
Ritterhude (close to Bremen)  one of these little fellows appeared:
http://www.playmo-portal.com/viewtopic.php?t=5694&start=45
And you can be sure that we cracked him...
They are completely similar structured, but the chest is a little shorter as the
legs need a certain degree of freedom. There I learned the spanish way to
crack a figure btw, as you cannot bend them over...  8-)

Socrates explanation of the Spanish method for disassembly is now posted in the [How-To] (http://www.playmofriends.com/forum/index.php?topic=121.0) board under customising. 8-)

I don't like them kicking klickies. A klicky with movable legs is hardly a klicky. I hope this leg-thing don't spread to other themes...  >:(

Other than making the Rockettes, I cant see a lot of usefulness in kicking klickies (OK, Punters for american football)

Besides, klickies want to sit down, and relax

I have to agree with Kvart... especially what with those weird looking tabs sticking out their bottoms.  ??? socrates, what is that thing for, anyway?

The tabs are pushed to release the leg, and make it kick

It certainly does take away from the look of the klicky
hard to sit down in a chair with a big ol' tab sticking out of your back

Maybe it's just a back brace for klickies with back problems...a bit of disability awareness? :)

As playmo is going to renew the health topic, I am looking
forward in what other sets these figures will appear...
 ;)

@red: This tab is simply a part of the moving leg.
Did I mention that they have pretty much a clever design?
As always, Playmo designed the Figure very puristic.
There is no spring mechanism or something.
You can pull the leg back and it will stick in this position.
And then you have to push manually the lever to let the
player kick. Due to this, you have pretty much a good control
of the mechanism and you have to develope kind of a
technique to kick the ball as you want it to fly.

In Germany, there has been a very famous board game
(I think it still is?) that works pretty the same way:
Its called TippKick (http://www.kaleidoshop.de/produktkatalog/tipp_kick_spieler.html)
This system is a little more sophisticated but they have a  professional
league as far as I know...

I think, this really will be some sets of from all the other PM
sets, but it was a lot of fun. And I really am looking forward
to have one of my own...
 :)

I always found the old street soccer set is one of the most
underestimated sets of all... :)
 :yup:

After looking at the TippKick link, I can see why you feel there are too few international players.

I noticed that the Tippkick line is all right footers, too.   :-X :(

Yeah, you are definitely right. We should send an email to playmobil.
But I am afraid, they will just have excuses like this typical: "It's soo
expensive to make a mould just for a left-footed player...  ...blahblah..."
-phrases...  ;)

Btw, customizer published in the german board a creation of his own:

He could have made a left-footed player...  :yup:

David, does your wife let you play with such things in the house???

When the DH was in his teens, he had one of those smaller rocket engines (from a kit) go off in the house.  :omg: :0
It made it into every room in their house. (It is just a one story building)  Luckily his parents werent home, and he could air out the house before they returned

As you can see, the soccer player (footballer) is NOT the first Klicky to have moveable legs ... Click on the image above for the FULL story!

I shared this info awhile back with several Playmofriends. But, because some of you may not have seen it, I'm posting it again.

All the best,
Richard

Kicking klickies with movable legs?

As you may see:
You don't need movable legs to kick it like Beckham:

This movie is really cool !!! Bend it like Beckham  :)9

Also a pity to see that the Belgian team is not available as soccer klicky, but I think it's a rather realistic decision  ;D
