Title: New version Playmobil City Hospital & Saint Mary's Trauma Center interior.
Post by: Bill Blackhurst on November 30, 2010, 02:57:56
Hello everyone! The following photo story involves the unveiling of the new Playmobil City Hospital & Saint Mary's Trauma Center's interior. The hospital has a state of the art Emergency Department with trauma bay, Pediatric exam room with ultra sound, adult recovery ward, 2 operating suits with recovery rooms, surgical staff canteen, surgeons preparatory area, pediatric floor with neonatal & nursery unit. In addition to the new interior, there are 2 medevac helicopter landing areas, & a new larger EMS unloading & parking area. There are news crews, & a large crowd of on lookers to witness the new ribbon cutting ceremony even though the hospital is already in service. I hope you enjoy the new hospital's photo review.

Oh my goodness, Bill! Fantastic work there!!!  :wow: :wow: :wow: :wow: So full of details. I love your unconscious patients; they're so well done. And the whole pediatric area is magnificent!! You have inspired me to start in  on the hospital theme, I think.

I also love your robotic poop scoopers!

This is incredible Bill, there is so much going on there, the detail is amazing.  :wow:
There is so much I love ... (the robotic poop scoopers made me laugh out loud  ;D)
I noticed the poor child giving his teddy to the clown to make him go away! and... my avatar's sister is right there when the ribbon is being cut!
I also loved the baby unit... 16 years ago today when my eldest boy was born he was transfered to the SCBU of a hospital called St Mary's - it made me think of that!

i love it!!!  i love the hustle and bustle of activity, the helipad, the ORs and the recovery room.  i must say, i have never worked in a facility witha surgical unit canteen, we only seem to get stale bread and almost empty peanut butter with stiff coffee!.  oh yes, the nuns, that is quite a flock.  who is the babe at the ribbon cutting?  this is a great inspiration, i need to get busy and work on my next additions as well.

Thats an awesome building Bill. The mix of onlookers is real nice and even though many have mentioned it the Robotic Poop Scoopers are a touch of comic brilliance :-)

Thanks so much for sharing this...I'll go back now and look at the pictures again :-)

Soooo cool!  Your pictures are wonderful, you feel like you are right there.  Your attention to detail is superior.  I love the nuns.   Do the robotic poop scoopers clean cat boxes too?  I could sure use a few of them around here!

Thank you everyone for the positive comments regarding this latest project! To answer the questions so far,

To bb & Clong, Thank you for your support! Be careful when you start to collect this theme, it's extremely addictive ;)! We wouldn't want to have to start a Playmobil City Hospital rehab center for out of control collection hoarders, now would we?

To Skypurr, Thank you for your positive mention of details! You caught my laughable approach to clowns, which I have witnessed not being liked by babies :'(! One reason it took me so long to post this project was through personal depression due to your avatars sisters figure actually being our neighbors granddaughter's choice, who assisted me in setting this project up! Her father has battled addiction for 20 years, & was trying to go straight with my help, but succumbed to the beasts again & took the young girl away from their grand parents home. She was to be the new hospitals director in the story.
I was born in Saint Mary's Hospital in my neighboring home town & spent time there when I was very small. The nun's who were assigned to staffing the hospital were very strict but gave excellent care to which I will always be grateful. I felt this would be a small thank you for their efforts.

To kaethe, Thank you for the positive review! I thought of the hospital staff members I worked with in my times of EMS, & thought it would only be appropriate to make sure they were well taken care of! Your avatar is welcome to work for PCH&SMTC anytime she wants, tell her to just say the word, & she will always have a job here ;)! I can't wait to see your evolving project! I'm still trying to complete my Catscan & X-ray department for PCH, but DS delays are making it difficult :wall:!

To Panos, Thank you for the positive support! I'm finally catching up on some long overdue projects that will be posted soon if all goes as planned!

To Gis, Thank you for your kind words regarding this project! I originally didn't intend to put the robots in the pictures & when they were set up as a last minute addon, it just clicked what their job duties should be! Just think how popular they would be if we could actually make robots to do this exact job? We'd be rich & could buy more Playmobil! :evilplan:

To basilsdad, Thank you for your uplifting comments! I didn't think of putting my PM cat collection with the PM dogs in the pictures, but I'm pretty sure I can program the robots to be double duty, just for you ;)!

That's an excellent piece of custom work, Bill, and the detail and care and attention you have given it are quite amazing.  I laughed at the robotic poop scoopers and also love the detail you put in.  It's good to see your custom medical equipment in use too.

And the patient being brought in by helicopter - is that a knife in him?   :omg:

Bill this is great! I'm not a fan of the theme but I enjoyed every pic! I have a new found appreciation for the hospital theme now. The attention to detail (yours I mean) is amazing. As almost everyone else said, I loved the poop robots too!
The unconscious patine also looks amazing.
One question...in the operation set (or sets) do the clickies have their eyes closed? I mean the patients of course..not the surgeons!
Great work Bill!!

To bb,  I have an idea that I'm going to try to show regarding that padded room concept ;).

To Playmofire, Thank you for your favorable comments! BTW, yes, that is a stabbing victim from a domestic conflict being delivered by Medivac 1!

To Damo, I'm glad you liked the project & appeciated the flying helicopter, Thank you! ;D!

To Gaston, Thank you for the positive reviews on this project. To answer your question, no figures that Playmobil has ever produced have closed eyes. The figures in my photo stories with closed eyes & no smiles are all customs. I start with a very old figure with painted on expressions & remove the face to become blank & replace it with any desired expression I want.

By the way, that's a great idea to use the old klickys that were just painted on for custom faces. I was wondering how you did that.

We would start with cutting waste & dealing with overpriced procedures & medications. Next we would evaluate all health care employees on training & adjust pay rates on experience & education status in their field, more knowledge more pay. Then we'd check why adequate care is not being accessible to everyone, but just to wealthy citizens. Sounds to me like that would be a little unfair :hmm:! We'd get it right if at all possible.

That would be indeed ideal...

But the problem is, how to enforce all these measures as they have already been proposed...

Jeopardize funding for noncompliant facilities. If patients are told they can be watch dogs, many times they can be the best resource of information. When the billing is done, there would need to be standard charges that would be a constant price. Budgets would need to be strictly enforced for employee incomes. If the government is in controll of the health care system, they have the power to negotiate affordable diagnostic equipment & supplies purchase prices due to buying in bulk, & being in controll of the purse strings. There needs to be accountability for the responsible people to make sure they aren't getting kick backs & doing the system a disservice with corruption living off the fat of dishonesty.

I am still amazed at your hospital center and can't stop going back to look at it again and again.  There is so much to see and I see new things each time I look.  I had no idea that there was so much diversity in the different themes Playmobil has to offer.  This site is a true learning experience!  Thanks again for sharing your project in pictures.

Thank you Joe! That's what attracted me to Playmobil years ago! Its attention to detail, which continues on even today, is paramount to all other toy makes! Every theme can boast that it's never boring ;)!

I get worked up when it comes to health care & costs :hissyfit:! Have you heard lately that there are hundreds & climbing of working groups & unions that are applying for health care law exemption due to researching & finding their average costs will increase 2 to 3 times more than the original costs & that will cause those increases to be passed on to the work force? I'm going to stop now I promise! 0)

Yeah well, every year we get less insurance for more money. And I'm not thrilled with the direction we're going as far as reform. I think things will get worse not better. But the one good thing is now the insurance companies are required to cover physicals and preventive screenings, which I am happy about.

At least you get insurance...in a few years preditions say we will not have public insurance at all...the government enforces all employees, even in the private sector, to be insured with public agencies...private insurance is not well established yet, if ever at all... so the public insurance agencies take the money, that everyone is forced to pay monthy from their paycheck, and are supposedly cover any treatment and health needs, even the pension, of the insured...unfortunately, a lot of money have ended up in the wrong place...

Well, I'm not sure I understand exactly, but I think the opposite of what you said is happening here. Before it was up to each individual to pay for insurance if they could afford it, but if you have a good job, your employer offers an insurance plan, and they pay half of your premium, the other half comes out of your paycheck. For the poor, there are charity hospitals (usually terrible places) and if you are poor enough you qualify for medicaid, and basically your care is free.

But now the government is reforming health care to provide a public "option." It's all being phased in at the moment. Now everyone will be required to have insurance for them and their children or face heavy fines. There will be government health insurance, but here's the problem. They have put so many new regulations on the private insurance companies that they are either going under or charging a lot more. And employers are technically required to offer insurance, but their fines if they don't cost them less than it costs to pay for insurance, so they are going to stop offering it and just take the fines. So if you combine those two factors, eventually almost no one will be able to afford private insurance. And if everyone goes on the government healthcare plan, then the government hospitals end up worse than the charity hospitals currently are -- long waiting lists for necessary treatments for serious illnesses and such. A lot of people here are very upset about all this, but we'll see how it works out.

Well, look who's talking about not talking politics.  :-[ Guess 'll get off my soapbox!

Lovely hospital set-up! Details are fabulous, especially with the people and their clothing.
Like your idea of painting over faces of old clickies as I just can't make myself paint over new faces.....yet!
Sorry about your neighbor's son and granddaughter. Nice to have a helper on a project this large. I am fortunate to have the help of my hubby, who is an expert model builder from his train playing days. Cheers, Pgal   8-) 8-)

It is very easy. All that you do is identify that the Klicky has a painted on face, to do that you pop off the wig piece, & if the inside of the Klicky's head is all flesh colored, that indicates that the face is painted. Next you will use automotive finish medium rubbing compound on a rag to rub the painted expression off, & black vinyl automotive pin striping tape to put the desired expression back on.

I was using the search feature to find mention of a certain set, and it popped up this thread. While it didn't have any mention of what I was looking for (so I'm not sure why the search function highlighted it!) I'm so glad that it did, as otherwise I wouldn't have seen this fantastic hospital setup. Wow, it's really impressive!

And I laughed at the robotic pooper scoopers!
