Title: 3750/3940 Pirate Ship Birthday Cake
Post by: BlackPearl2006 on October 05, 2010, 05:22:25
This may be old news to those of you who knew me on the old playmoboards, but after reading racerx's thread about the knock-off Playmobil pirate chest
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/ghettocar/chest.jpg) being used as a cake topping at local grocery stores, I decided to resurrect these old pics of a custom Playmobil-inspired pirate ship cake I made for my son's 1st birthday.

It's a 2-layered hull (inspired by the 3750 ship) composed of chocolate fudge brownie as the base, and then german chocolate cake as the secondary layer, frosted, of course, with chocolate fudge icing, and decorated with playmobil ship parts (mostly from the 3286/3940), lol.

The railing is composed of chocolate wafers.  The keel and rudder are made of graham crackers.

My son is part native american, so a little native klicky adorns the bow.

Unlike the store-bought cakes, mine uses 100% genuine Playmoparts, lol:

If you want to see a slideshow of how I made it, you can go to:

Somehow I missed this topic. Love the cake! I think yours is much better than the professional one. Its shaped like a real pirate ship. It has me thinking about playmobil cakes... :!:

Just let her lick off the icing if that is what she wants to do... ;)
