When a police van version of this truck came up for auction, and the seller said it was metal and listed it as Playmobil.
I asked him for his conformation, and he said it was stamped Playpeople or Playmobil (I can't quite remember)
I think the rare Playpeople tractor was metal, so they could be Playpeople I am not sure.
Has anyone come acroos this?

There doesn't seem to be a real-life Atlas truck, but both matchbox's and Mark's 'Atlas' trucks seem to be very similar :-\

And, of course, Marx were the UK licensees for producing Playpeople.
-
and it looks like Playpeople figures came with the vehicle
-
Tonka also made trucks at the same scale ; I have a marvellous big ladder fire-truck in which my vintage firemen did fit very well

playmobil...or in this case playpeople...are full of surprises!!!

As far as I know the image of the playpeople figure was shown on the box as an example of what type of 3" action figure you could use.

They even had their own train system in 1978.

It seems that LGB in Germany was delivering some of their trains with 2 or 3 playmobil figures.
Picture of such LGB product was shown on now-dead forum Planète Playmo.

I don't think that these sets belong in the collector guides, I don't even like the fact that the playsets castle and hospital are in the guide.
They where never part of the licence agreement between Geobra and Marx toys.
Playpeople was a huge success here in the UK and it would seem that Marx toys tried to develop it's own system to make a few extra quid out of it. Faller trains, little people Playsets and the Atlas trucks where and never really will be part of Geobras history of Playmobil.
