Title: Paulie's randomness
Post by: gibbspaulus on September 08, 2010, 05:07:55
Hello Playmofolks,

Well my attraction to PM stems from loving the detail and imagination in their 'real world' lines. I collect many, many toys and find that PM and Sylvanian sets make perfect homes and accessories for 3.75" scale figures, such as Star Wars figures.

I am just embarking on a big photo project on these lines, which will form the basis for a calendar going out to family and friends this Xmas. So I don't have much to show just yet but here are some working shots from my gallery.

Ah, er, how do I attach images from my gallery?  :-[  I shall upload them for now...

 Temper, temper, Darth!

I'm surprised at how well the scale of the Playmo furniture suits the Star Wars figures.

Where is your gallery hosted? At Photobucket, or somewhere like that?
If you know the correct web address of each image, you can embed them into posts using IMG tags (http://www.playmofriends.com/forum/Themes/default/images/bbc/img.gif).
Here's some more information that might help:

Thanks for the comments Sylvia. My photos are generally on flickr and i can do the links to that, I was just wondering how I import photos from my gallery on this site?

Got my supermarket (3200 + 2 x 3201) today so looking forward to setting that up this weekend - see what adventures my other little people can get up to!

Ah, Darth.  I feel like that some days, too.

I don't know of any way to import a whole gallery of photos.
We have our own Coppermine Gallery space (http://www.playmofriends.com/forum/album/) and you are welcome to create a personal gallery there for some pics, but it would mean uploading each image again. I think you can add a maximum of five per upload.

Cheers everyone for the comments.

Here are some quick shots I took today. No real thought or technique, just a quick play about.

#1 Everyone pointed and laughed as Flopsy got asked for ID
#2 Sunday morning - shopping day in toy land
#3 The Doctor and Mel arrive on Svartos, intergalactic freezer centre.

These are absolutely brilliant

Playmofire will tell me off for this, but the figures you use look really lifelike and in scale. What make are the people figures in the first pic? (before I enlarged the pic I thought they were real) :-[

No, no, you won't get into trouble - it is me because Playmofire is very precise about his scales, whereas and I am not and will say anything is in scale if it looks right

Right, then Playmofire and i are going to need to stay away from each other lol. Although all those figures are 3.75" scale they still vary. The company who sculpted the Harry Potter figures decided that the kids should be 3.75" high so then the adults are all nearer 4" scale! As long as they don't look ridiculous I'll throw every and anyone into a photo!

Oh lordy, when I bought the supermarket on Ebay the seller said that two walls were glued together for 'stability'. Turned out to be the entire serving counter, roof, all floor sections and some of the signage. Good job they used a fairly weak glue but it's an hour of my life I'm never getting back!!

Still, it did result in me being able to have a good play around with the system X components once I had. I tried a few different set-ups for the market and it's a really inventive, but fiddly, way to allow modular play. let me guess, they don't make it anymore? It's always the way when i discover something I like!

It is annoying when people glue Steck or SystemX together >:( Why?! It holds itself together >:(

I have had this happen to me on ebay before, where they hadn't said anything about glue, so now I ask if it has been glued, and avoid anything that mentions glue in the description.

I used to have the supermarket, but sold it because I found that it didn't look very good in a diorama/display. I found it looked to 'open', unfortunately this looks the way Playmobil are going for example the new farm for 2011. Which is good if you want to get in and play or take photographs like yourself - it is brilliant. But for displays I don't think it looks quite right :-\

Yes, this is true. You can create a 'front view' but the big, gaping lack-of-roof somewhat shatters any reality!

Thanks. The Merlin figures only came out this week I think. I grabbed Merlin and Arthur but left Morgana and Gaius for another time.

Love the humour in these.
As Damo said they do look right as regards the scale.
I noticed Voldemort - he's not chatting to Harry is he?
One of my boys has the Harry Potter figures, but when he wants other characters he uses Playmobil or other figures and doesn't bother about the scale - I think it's just us adults who like things to be in scale.
BTW Martina posted something about removing glue here:

Not sure if it works for all types of glue, but might be worth a try - providing you've enough space in the freezer

Thanks Elaine! Yeah, as a kid I threw all my toys into one plot. If I didn't actually own a Darth Vader then that Tron figure will do. No Doctor Who figures? Well, Han and leia fit the part... and so on...

Meanwhile please see below for another moment of madness. I cannot believe how much fun System X is, even with a relatively small amount. From the Supermarket I've made various smaller shops, then a town house, and now a gym reception & Cafe!

Funny pics Paulie.  Reminds me of Toyfair magazine's One Shots.  They always mix toys into some zany scenario.   ;D 8}
