Hello everyone,
I went to the flea market yesterday, hoping to find Playmobil since I restarted collecting this month. (For the moment I'm getting a few Victorian items, love that series) I had some luck, finding the 4293 Pirate captain MISB for 3 euro and some nice small parts like a top hat, bowler hat,... The thing I like about flea markets is that a lot of people throw all kinds of stuff in a box, and some people don't bother to dig in it. I did check the boxes for Playmobil parts, and found a nice wagon/cart. It looked OK, nothing broken (except one of the hooks that holds the canvas). I happily purchased it for the massive amount of 30 eurocents. ;D 8} :love:
The cart included these parts: the main wagon part, the axle assemblies and the four wheels. After cleaning these parts, I added a driver's seat by 'borrowing' it from an old artillery cart. This is how it looked:

I decided to use it as a Victorian horse-drawn supply cart for a Victorian layout I'm thinking of. :) (Horses were used here in Europe for pulling carts until well in the 1960's!)
I wanted to keep the cart without it's cover, but it did look a bit naked. :lol: So I decided to add some lamps from a pirate ship I don't use. I also gathered some crates and barrels to fill it up a bit and I made a temporary driver with the pirate captain and the top hat. ;D

I also included the ladder from the pirate ship as the wagon is quite high, which isn't handy when loading on crates. If any passengers would like to travel with the wagon, the ladder will make a welcome addition. :)

Everything fits in the cart just fine, but there's something missing... the horses! ;D I'm getting the parts needed to complete it, so it should be driving around soon with a new driver (WITH depth perception :lol: )
With this creation, I'd like to point at that there are great deals to be made, you just have to look very closely :)

In the US, that cart is a Confederate pay wagon with a western wagon bench, then with lanterns tacked on and ship’s boarding ladder hung off the back.
Seems to me like you got ripped off…

Andy R: yes I know it's orignally used as a confederate paywagon (had to search playmodb for quite a while to find the original set :P ) :) Despite it being an American vehicle, I think I succeeded in giving it a European look :D

Great find at a great price and finally a great job turning it slowly into a Victorian cart!!!
I only wish flea markets like these existed in Greece...I went to a toy warehouse close to work where people occasionally give their old toys away but the guy who runs the warehouse is such a rip off!!! He asked me 40 euroes for 30 klickies and about 20 accessories all dirty :o :o :o :o :o
After bargaining for a few minutes I gave him a 20...

I really like this custom, tanotrooper, especially the driver. His livery looks quite good and with the patch he looks as if he has a questionable past. :hmm:
