Title: what other playmobil forums, clubs, gatherings, do you participate in
Post by: kaethe on August 11, 2010, 04:38:45: Playmofriends has had quite a growth spurt recently, and many of you are apparently very well-known in different parts of the playmoworld. I recognize many of the names from lurking on klickywelt, but I do not have the depth of collecting involvement that many of you do, and I would love to hear more about some of the other groups you are involved in, possibly some history of the group, or a special interest, and of course the link to the site. Moderators: if this post is incorrectly placed, or not appropriate, please feel free to delete it. kaethe

Post by: Gis on August 11, 2010, 06:34:40: I only decided to take my playmobil addiction more seriously since may this year. Playmofriends was the first forum I join and I think with all the recent influx of people I really don't need more stuff to keep my hands occupied so I will stay with "just" pf for now.

Playmobil Planet in .nl was where I got the "real" playmo vibe. And I am definitely looking to attend more conventions if time allows.

I am also a member of klickywelt (I started my "career" at the original board playmo-portal) and also have an account at playclicks but more for lurking than actually posting (as I am only fluently in google-spanish)...

Playmofriends is my "port of call" but I also participate to Klickywelt.de ( German ), Playclicks.com ( Spanish ), Uchronys.com ( French ) and Tricornejock.com ( bilingual French / English ) and Miniaturists specialized websites which are discovering our Playmo World in the shape of my happy little victorians ;)

Something happend in summer 2008 in klickywelt, so two other boards came up, I'm also member there. Playmotreff www.playmo-treff.de and klickybörse www.klickyboerse.de. Klickybörse is only to sell and buy Playmo.

I'm also member at tricornejokes board www.tricornejock.com

Because of the Playmobil Collector Club I got member here. Meanwhile I'm one of the founding member in playsüd www.playsued.forumprofi.de That should not be another board, we see it, as a missing part, like a quitezone. Only for those, we knew, which are "oldies" and don't want the situation in the boards like yet, anylonger. As I see here, you might not imagine how ugly some people my be and how hard it is to stand it out. Half the harmony and peace, you have here, would be heaven in the two big German boards.

So, I'm member in 7 playmoboards. 8}

I was a member of Playmoboard first and then the German forum prior to Klickywelt. The Internet is really a very social medium and many of the same interpersonal problems that happen in day to day life happen here as well. It's not surprising over time there's been some shifting about of sites and groups. Regardless, we all have more in common than not. People just loose sight of how small the differences really are from time to time.

When I first found out there were such things as forums I was only a member of the now defunct PlaymoBoared. It seemed to be a very active site with a large diverse group. As tensions grew and the dictatorship styled management kept throwing out very valuable members it seemed to me to become a sort of "Playmobil Help Center" for new short term collectors. I guess I grew tired of what I viewed as repetitive questions like "How do I build 3666", "What is DS", "Can I buy Parts" on a daily basis. When the "serious collectors" were finally all thinned out I decided it too was time to leave and find new Forums. I found LG and PF. LG tends to be a little less active for my taste but has some great members who I wish would just come over here. PF for me has a great diverse group of respectful members and that does help tremendously when moderating. Klickywelt is the other forum I have membership at. I do post there quite infrequently as it is in German but I would not have any other access to some of Playmobil's biggest fans if I did not over look this language challenge.

For now Playmofriends seems to be satisfying all the Playmobil chat I can absorb at this time so I tend to stay here.

Post by: playmo1989 on August 11, 2010, 19:54:44: i'am only a member on playmofriens i think it is the best forum for playmobil conversations :) the others don't seem so welcome active and easy ,i was a member in some playmobil forum of yahoo before i come here but i always received emails with totally different conversations for univercities a mother was asking for her child in which university to choose and staff like that not even a single email with a playmobil theme ,i steel receive some of these annoying emails , when i registered i would receive 10 emails the day now almost i don't receive anything thank god :)

Member of LG, but I HATE HATE HATE Schleich and its imitators (except Smurfs ;D) so I don't go there so much these days. I lurk on Klickywelt- like the pics of upcoming sets and customs, but the whole site is in some foreign language... ;D ;D ;D

I'm here and on Garden Wargaming, though like many I first joined PlaymoBoard. But that was near what appears to have been the end of that forum's life, so I came over here.

I can read German well enough to understand what's being said on Klickywelt and other German boards (and my spoken German is passable, if now rather rusty), but my written German was never very good, so I quail at the thought of trying to post on a German board.

As far as any other clubs or gatherings go, I haven't taken part in any, but I would be happy to do so if the opportunity ever arose...

I do not know anybody in the flesh that collects playmobil, though my brother in law is doing a little playmobil collecting for his kids. Especially when I gave him a collectors guide for christmas.

I would say the Garden Wargaming forum (here: http://gardenwargaming.playclicks.com/forum/index.php?board=3.0) is active, yes. Perhaps not as active as PlaymoFriends, but there are certainly at least one or two new posts most days.

The Garden Wargaming website (here: http://www.gardenwargaming.com/) is perhaps a slightly different matter. So far as I understand it, the website is pretty much all Richard's work. And I think it can safely be said that Richard has been directing his energies toward other things recently ;)

Does that make things clearer?

I was a member but I've probably been kicked off by now, as I've not posted there in a while :-\
I do go on to look at the pictures alot, there are some truly brilliant dioramas on that site, but I'm not bilingual so it just took to long to try and translate a thread to bother posting. Here at least I can hide my ignorance :-[

I'm from the Netherlands btw.

I'm mainly a lurker of messages and pictures, but lately I'm trying to post more often. Perhaps in the future I will try to post some photos of my collection. :)
