Title: Which official Playmobil Knight would stand at the end??
Post by: Heronimus on July 16, 2010, 07:49:25
Without customization, which individual knight playmobil has ever produced would be the strongest if there are one-on-one playoff?? I know, that would be a different story in troops, but I am talking about the ultimate klicky knight~!!! >:D

This is also in my list. I wonder would it be fair if the knights in the dragonland is also included in the match. Somehow I think the axe of the dark knight is not mobile enough and too short. Let's see if someone could name more candidates

3315 is one hard mediaval knight indeed.  Very mean !!!!! BUUUUUUT  without a jousting spear he doesnt stand a chance against other knight champions . From the perspective of  % of armoury covered body and thickness ,  surface area of shield, compare these criteria and to the  knight of  the old 3669  with careful analysis - in my opinion - one can conclude ( in my own opinion ) the 3669 is a superior knight... His helmet and armoury is second to none, weight them see the volume and you will know what i mean . Also his horse has metal protection whereas the 3315 and so many other knights have no indication of metal , just cloth ( and I am reffering to what one immediately can see and not what one can assume ..) . The 3315 has no armour half body down and a narrow shield  and no spear, wouldnt stand a chance on a knight's horse duel .... same goes for most of other horsed knights.. 3669 was mean in the 80s, mean in the 90s, mean in the 00s and continues being the top knight in 2010......

That other knight on the dragon , sorry is that really playmobil , look slike more GI joe to me        . I think we are talking about knights on horses and not fantasy theme , in the latter case too  many assumptions , fire balls , etc fall into the question and deviate from original question...

Still to see a knight with better armour than the 3669. Grangel must be over the moon i think he has a few 000s of them ( i only have 60 or so horsed 3669 knights )

Good strong points there George! I think you had me!!!
3669 is indeed a magnificent, mean looking knight!
Still, not as scary as the 3315... he may have his drawbacks but he is scary looking..
Anyone think of any knight to oppose the 3669 knight?

But this is a jousting knight. What are we comparing? Fun and games or a fight to the death?

Jousting works only if you obey the rules! This equipment makes you very cumbersome. You could take out a knight like that if you are more agile. I simple lightly armoured knight on a good horse would take him out any day. A morning star would make short work of this one.

Ever seen a jousting lance in a real battle? There are good reasons why!

You mean its not easy to use the jousting lance in a battlefield?...Yes that is true and I think it has never happened.

The lance is so heavy and the knight needs to be very focused and very manouverable and agile if he was to use on in a battlefield. That is why I equip my knights with one hand heavy weapons... can cause real damage when mounted...

The 3669 is without doubt a fighting horsed knight . to suggest otherwise would be mere ignorance ... anyone to oppose this knight???

Nah, he just a leisure time weekend game knight. Not the real stuf. He has a wooden stick and a pimp my ride horse!

I´ll have to check my collectors guide, but I´m sure there is plenty of choice against this poseur.

3315 for instance.

For me, with out a shadow of a doubt it has to be the classic Playmobil knight like this one:

I agree that both 3315 and 3369 are good choices.  Both knights feature the most modern plate armor Playmobil has produced and good helmets.

I think 3315 may have the edge in most categories and he does look very fearsome.  While his somewhat impractical arm armor and helmet crest could impede him in some ways and his stomach and lower back lacks any visible plate armor (perhaps strips of plate are underneath his surcoat?), he is otherwise well armored with plate or chain mail on his legs.  He carries both a sword and an axe, albeit a slightly heavy and impractical double edged one.  Unfortunately, he carries no lance, which is a severe disadvantage when facing an opponent with one, as he really has nothing to counter a lanced opponent and he may be unhorsed before being able to reach his opponent with his axe.

I think 3369 has better arm and body plate armor, but his legs are unarmored.  He also has a lance, which is vital to combat, but unfortunately he falls short by having no other weapons.  Once his lance breaks or is lost, he's out of the fight.

If one could combine these two knights into one, one would have a fearsome knight!  Actually, it would be quite interesting to see these two knights go at it, but it would only be fair to give 3369 a sword and maybe 3315 a lance.

How about 3890 - Baron (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showinv.pl?setnum=3890)?

And this guy is one I think most other Klickies wouldn't want to meet down a dark alley: 4517 - Dark Knight (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showinv.pl?setnum=4517).

Of course, either of these two would be at a disadvantage not being mounted, but sitting on a horse is no guarantee of success in battle  ;)

Cheers,

ME, ME, ME, I'm the best knight.  ;D

I also have evidence of one of my triumphs and a story has been written about one of my adventures.

I travel light have good vision when my visor is up, my horse is fast agile and can see where it is going. When I dismount I can move faster than a heavy Knight climb and even swim, also I can get back onto my horse without help from others.

Heavy Knights need slow cart horses like the Suffolk Punch to carry them around and a hoist to put them on it and squires to pass them their shield and weapons. If they get knocked off they are slow to stand up and can not get back onto thier horse and if they fall in the moat they will sink and drown.

Strength and heavy axes and other weapons and a slow horse weighed down with heavy armour doesn't make an invincible knight.

Hi

All this talk about mounted knights, why not in battle use Sir Garth's mentioned abilities, agility and quickness. As the horse draws near maneuver quickly and cut the horses legs off and watch the knight go flying like a lead ball to the ground ? The horses lower legs have no armor and a well made sword can surely cut them off.

Rasputin,

The question is which offical knight would stand at the end. A knight is by definition a horse rider.

Of course a footman with a pike would pose a very real thread to a knight in full charge. But a footman is not a knight.

he has a different side too in the catalogs the years 2000-2-3 perhaps earlier as well he was in the fairy tale castle 3019 scenes eating in the table ,with the princess with a red had and white feather ,not the crown he wears at the box , SO HE IS THE IDEAL ONE BECAUSE HE HAS THE WHOLE  PACKAGE

Rasputin,

A knight is by definition a horse rider.

Horsemanship is indeed what a very big part of people associate a knight as being but in the era of knights we are talking about they also had to follow the old code Chivarly.

Sir Gareth has a horse and follows the old code of chivalry because he doesn't wear heavy armour doesn't mean that he's not a proper knight.

In a fair fight on horse or on foot a lighter more agile knight with a sword stands a better chance of deafeating a knight weighed down with heavy armour trying to swing a heavy axe or other weapon.

I didn't say a knight never fights on foot. I said a footman is not a knight. Chivalry is derived from the french word for horse. In Dutch and German the word for knight (ridder/ritter) means rider.

Yes it does, African or European and you had better get the question right or else, Arrrrrggghhhh ;D

Back to the topic of who is the ultimate klicky knight.

The answer is in the Monty python film we all obviously like, look how they are all dressed.

A lightly armed knight with a basic chain mail suit, balanced sword and a good strong shield will defeat any of the heavily dressed knights like 3315 and 3669.

Bsck to tho topic of the original question , still a horsed with stroner armour and weaponry to apprear in my opinion , 3669 still on top of hte leage, the dragon knight and special mentioned dont even have a horse, heavy armour etc. 3669 top of the food chain people ...still.... the champion therefore ???

Title: Re: Which official Playmobil Knight would stand at the end??
Post by: Ali Baba on July 18, 2010, 20:45:14
Why? Because he has to bring 2 of his mates along to help him on and off his horse?

Besides, he'll get stuck if the ground is too soft. Easy pickings, I say, this one.

On a playing field, during the weekend he may be quite dangerous, but in a real battle he doesn't stand a chance.
Title: Re: Which official Playmobil Knight would stand at the end??
Post by: Justindo on July 22, 2010, 06:34:48
Fully armored knights were more agile than most people think.  Although their armor did weigh a considerable amount, the weight was well distributed and knights trained in it often, so they were used to it.  A crane or squires were not necessary for a knight to mount his horse.

Wow, so many replies from all you knowledgable playmobil collectors.

I dont know much about the middle age western world, but which one is more fatal, a sword or the jousting lance? The sword might fail to hit if two knights are too far apart, whilst the lance could trip the opponent down, stomping him to death ( ::))with the horse I guess.

3315 wins on the looks but not on  the essence  of a knight duel fight.. 3369 knight has long spear which is a must for a horsed duel, bigger shield and full upper body armour coverage and his armour is more think/ heavy . I am afraid the 3315 will be defeted after all , his lit axe cant ever reach the pike of 3669 , no upper body armour , his horse is not even armoured as the 3669 knight

I must agree with Socrates.

And it cannot be 3315. He has a jousting lance. It is made of wood, the tip is not sharp and not made of metal. It is useless in a real battle.

My bad, try this-

I agree a great knight , actually very similar to 3669 but the horse has no armour . The 3669 is still the dominant horsed knight, perhaps a poll should be made for this ..  ???

I like this knight very much also....and I agree someone should make a poll on the best knight or horse rider knight.  :yup:

Hi All,

Just to add some variety to the range of suggestions, how about this guy: 30 00 1422 - Knight with armour and unicorn with red mane on surcoat (http://www.playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showpart.pl?partnum=30%2000%201422), from set 3287 - Knights Tournament (http://www.playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showinv.pl?set=3287)?

He's armed with lance and sword, mounted on a caparisoned horse, and has a nice-looking suit of armour (perhaps a bit too much 'bling', but who's counting).

The unicorn crest on his helmet might leave him a bit top-heavy, but I suspect he'd be able to manage.

Reactions, thoughts, opinions?

Cheers,

AndrewL

That's a good nomination, Andrew!  I had forgotten about him because of his "bling" and his crest, but he could be in the running, especially if he has plate strips beneath his surcoat.

3137 is also a good choice, if not my top one.

Can't sleep, so I thought I'd do some more on the forum...

Here's another suggestion: 30 00 3602 - Knight in armour, blue and yellow clothes (http://www.playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showpart.pl?partnum=30%2000%203602) from the set
4153 - Advent Calendar Knights Duel (http://www.playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showinv.pl?set=4153).

Again, he's heavily armoured, has a well-caparisoned  horse, and bears both sword and lance. I think he could be a contender -- what do others think?

Cheers,

AndrewL

What about the knight from 3314?  He's mounted with a sword and a lance, has a late 14th early 15th century bassinet helmet, strong plate armor for his neck and upper torso and arms, armored legs, and, I would presume for the period, plate armor strips beneath his surcoat for his lower back and stomach.

I know I am the one raising this question up, but should we define what do we jointly mean by STAND?

Do the klickies have to make a killing on their opponents? If yes, we can kind of rule out the jousting lance and the cumbersome GIANT AXE of the 3315 :-\ or if it could be thrown upon the opponent, hit or miss 8-)

I think the question ,' best looking knight ' would be more appropriate, as so many queastions and pseudo arguments ( like mine ) mak eno sense and cant get anywhere really

Still think the 3669 is the best Looking knight , closely followed by the golden knight , what a lovely klicky this is !!!!!
