Title: Egyptian general and royal guards
Post by: Wolf Knight on July 11, 2010, 19:33:14

I'd actually like to work a bit more on the general...I need a black torso and black sleeved arms as these are brown...

Great customs!

Thanks Ali Baba!!!

Nice work as always, Panos.

Glad you liked them Gordon!!! Thank you!!!

Great job Panos! Lovely custom!

Thanks Baden!!!

I am trying to customise the Egyptians a bit further. The armor is a bit of a headache as It would be great to match the same colour small neckdrees for officers with the whole body armor for soldiers, thus making different corps...

Awsome customs once again.
You know if I were in charge of Playmobil I would be setting up the medieval collections a little more like the unit selection on my favorite game, Medieval 2 Total War.

Just think about it for a sec... Halleluia! 0)

For those who have no clue what I am talking about...
The Medieval 2 unit selection has certain units listed in rows.
(Infantry, Archers, Cavalry)

But they go further by "customising" each group...
And even after that, each person.
So instead of... Heavy Cav, light Cav;
You get Mailed Knights, Scouts, And Generals body Guard.

The Mailed Knights are heavy,
But not as well dressed/armored as the Bodyguard who are also heavy.
The scouts are light, but there are other Light Cav units, all different and special.

The infantry and archers are the same.
Infantry = Axmen, Swordsmen, Spearmen, Dismounted Knights...
And each of those catagories delves in even further by:
Axmen- 2h Axmen, Viking Raiders, and others.
Swordmen are split by heavy and light...
Though again there are variations of each. (Dismounted Knights are a type of heavy swordmen.)

There are tons of units to choose from,
But it may be hard to copy with Playmobil... (From a marketing perspective.)
Even so, a set could be "Generals Bodyguard".
(Like Wolf Knight's, who sparked this rant. ;D )

And other sets could go along those lines.

What I would suggest is to have the 2 factions that Playmobil has... (Newest factions: Lions/Eagles)
And just to create a few sets like addons:
3 Lion Axmen, 3 Lion Knights, 3 Lion... etc, etc. Same for Eagles.

To make there less sets, give each faction a preferance like:
Lions like axes. There are Axmen, but not as many sword men.
Then you could have an Axman addon.

Or do it like this...
The way I will describe to you in anoter thread. Tomarrow. :P

Sorry for taking up alot of space... :-[

Agreed. Most of the colors are available but you'd need to buy a bunch of figures to get the neck pieces. e.g. to get a light blue neckpiece you need the whole family set.

Or order the figures as parts.
That is how I am creating and finishing my Roman army.

I just changed a few things on the general...

I gave him a black torso and black long sleve arms, since I could not find black short sleved ones.... and gave him gold -medieval-like bracers. I wanted to make him look more like a warrior, not someone whos just sits back and shouts orders around...

I also gave him two scimitars...he is warrior bred after all.... ;D ;D ;D

I like your bodyguards and your general looks fierce with that beard and the new black tunic, which I much prefer to the brown one.

Honour will be mine!!!!. I have a caprenter creating a over 25 m2 table area that will be covered with green , blue, sand colour cloths  this month , i reckon that will suffice to put all together ( not the mediaval as its too much i reckon !!!) but by next summer we will have enough egyptians and romans to put something impressive together!!!  So scheduled  for next summer Sir ....  ;)

Well assuming you have all seen my egyptian massive purchase ( and another ship , pyramid, two arches and a few more soldiers will be added ) , i reckon a massive egyptian / roman diorama is very possible and much easire to set than a enormously massive steck mediaval set up !!!! really look forward to it. I will set my roman fortress , the large pine forrest and all the gauls in it and at the other corner egypt....

If you plan it during the weekend I will try and see if I can make it to Athens then. Unfortunately the Funpark will be closed then. Couldn't you do it when the park is open so it could be combined???

I think that WoT would like that to if he would be able to make it! (Assumption)

I am trying... but I may not be able to convince my family... :'(

Might have to slip away when were are the closest to Greece. ;)
(I think we are going to Rome... )

I think combining a visit to the Funpark would be an awsome idea!
It would be an excelent chance to buy some Playmo,
But also will be my first visit to a Funpark. :)

PLEASE PLEASE, change my family's minds about going to GREECE!!! :hissyfit:
