So just before I joined playmofriends I bought a 3667 and a 3665. I also had an assortment (slightly bigger then a 3888) delivered earlier this week. But today my first 3666 arrived.
So tomorrow I will be starting experimenting with things. See what I can built and where the Steck will lead me.
I just thought I'd share because without this forum the Steck fever wouldnt have bit me. I also bought some new small blue boxes and instead of the usual 1, I decided to follow many people ways (here at least) and buy several of some.
So even though you guys have made me "invest" a lot of money in Playmobil, I am doing it with a HUGE grin on my face.
Thanks all!!!
-
Glad to have helped! Let us see your Steck creations soon, please.
-
So glad you got ''infected''!!! We are ready to see some new creations!!!
-
If I had the money, I'd _invest_ it too ... ;D
When I have the money, I will invest it too ...
Enjoy!
(I would ...)

Glad to see others having cought the ' Steck fever'. welcome to the world of steck designs . Its one of the gratest toy lines ever in sense of aesthetics quality and creavity and many of us hope Playmobil brings it back with more colour and more designs !!!!
-
Glad to see others having cought the ' Steck fever'. . .
 Highly contagious! Handwashing, face masks, antibiotics are useless! Quarantine just gives you more time to think about buying more sets!
Welcome to the wonderful world of Steck, Gis! And congratulation on your recent acquisitions - they will start you off beautifully! :)
-
OK people picture time!
The first picture shows "My first 3666" it's not fully complete, but it's mainly about the Steck anyway right?
The second picture shows our kitten Stip (12 weeks old), who is playing the monster in the castle.
In the Third picture our other cat, Zouly, decided he also wanted in on the action and conquered the castle from Stip. Also in this picture you see some other recently acquired PM.
-
And then this morning I finally got to play around with my steck and decided to for the main entrance + Inn of the Grand City.
Basically within minutes I felt the pain some of you have expressed over there not being a 4-way connector piece. It would really make life easier!
I dubbed the Inn the Mug and Sword. Still need to work on properly displaying the name somewhere.
The first picture gives an overview, whereas the second focuses more on the main gate as well as the from of the Mug and Swords.
-
I plan to make all walls double although the 3666 Main Gate is really a hard piece to work with because it is not easily adaptable. As you can see I very short on flooring so that is something I need to work on. That and the fact that I have nothing left and am barely at 10% of the project *grin*
The first picture shows the layout under the fortification that seperates the kings palace and the rest of the town. As the in is only 2x6 I leeched some extra room from beneath the fortification. Behind the double door will be the big barrel from the Merrymens Feast. Still debating about the exact layout of the inn.
The second pic shows the back of the Mug and Swords.
The third pic is taking from the town square and you can see the stairs leading up to the guestrooms of the inn. The red building on the left will be the Smithy, but I just put the building down as is for now.
Thats it for now. Two more castles and some random "lots" arriving soon for more building pleasure.
-
Appearently Zouly approves the castle!

Oh I love cats!! My Isis is always checking my playmobil when they arrive!! She needs to make sure that i will not neglect her to play with my playmobil!!!
That is a wonderfull inn Gis!!! I really love it!! The double walls are also great!!! You just gave me a few great ideas!!!
Keep up the good work!!!

This weekend I received a nice big box (with playmobil in it). When I got my stuff out, I put it on the floor.
When I looked up from assembling my new egyptian ship our cat had disappeared. He sneaked into the box. The flaps were closed and I heard some cat snores from that box.
He has been sleeping in it the whole weekend. One very very happy cat. :D

How absolutely adorable! :inlove: I have gathered from my travels around the forum that lot's of us have cats - it must be linked to Playmobil
BTW, I'm loving your design, Gis - some ideas that I have never seen before :)9

Nice setup Gis. Like the name of your inn. Nice and ominous. >:D
-
Gis welcome to the world of steck , if you have read any of my posts you would have realised i am steck obsessed to the point of mild insanity and with a unreasonable hatred towards system x and clip. I found your creation of th inn very interesting and look forward to all your future creations. The cat picture is awesome, i love cats and your kitten is lovely, :)
Withn reference to setck my advice is go and get 6 x 3666s before starting buying more fortifications, round tower blocks , toasts ( you will need plenty of these , roofs, corners , 3 point connectors etc ) , we have ebay these days so rest assured that will quench any steck thirst needs . With 6 3666s you can build some awesome designs and plenty of pieces for nice bespoke designs like your inn. have look at me mediaval city thread to see my city with 30 or so steck houses ( now have about 38 ...) and lots of fortifications, towers etc . A number of complete 3666s ( even 4 will do, excuse me with my obsession with steck) will provide hte best materials for custom steck buildings . and join my mission to persuade playmoibl to bring back steck !!!!!!
-
Thanks all for the kind words towards my designs. The one reason I always enjoyed Lego more as a child was that I could build more with it (Blasphemy I know) but with Steck those thoughts have completely gone away!
I hear what you are saying Giorginetto. And even though I took a slightly different route I think I am doing ok. Sofar I have gotten:
3 3666
2 3667
1 3450
1 3665
2 3888
1 lot of pieces.
The design sofar is just a 3666, 3667, 3888 and 3665 so there is still plenty on the way. I will have a nice weekend away with the wife though this weekend so it will be a while before I can start working on it :-(
-

you are doing perfectly !!!!!! Look forward to see more steck designs of yours !!! !

Gis,
When you started this thread a couple of days ago you said you just got your first 3666.
In your last post you say you have three of them. Right?
:o
-
I have a steck itch and I am scratching it HARD!!!
Yes I bought another two 3666's in the last couple of days! And eyeballing some more lots. missed another by a couple of cents.
My project will require a lot of Steck!!
-
Man, you've got it bad.
-
i love cats i have a siamese myself very quiet his name is menios !!!
Man, you've got it bad.
that's nothing if you see our collections here you'll pull your hair out!!!
-
Man, you've got it bad.
have a look at the mediaval city thread of mine :P :P :P

Oh wow!!! Me wants...but cannot right now... Will you be bidding George?
-
Current High bid is mine...
-
Oh wow!!! Me wants...but cannot right now... Will you be bidding George?
Yes its an awesome collection of steck and knights. To be honest i dont think i will , i have a fair amount to set right now and enough for the design i have in mind. I am focussing more on rarities these days , old rare sets ( see my thread mediaval city and latest purchases ) and want to buy some more medieval klickies !!! Gis , go for it its an awesome collection and it will fetch i reckon around 450euros ... ;)
-
If I get this a couple of things will happen :-)
My wife might actually get mad at me (disbelieve more then mad, really)
My son will be less appreciative of the abundance of PM for now...untill he gets a bit older
I should have enough Steck for now.
I really don't know if I want to go up to 450 on this eventhough I am fully aware that it is worth it.
I am going away for the weekend with my wife to the lovely city of Brugge (without the kids) maybe I can convince her of the beauty of Steck and building medieval things (the setting should be right), so that when we come home she will be happily bidding on this...on that note she owes me about 450 EURO's for destroying the front window of my car *wink*
Hmmm options!
-
Gis , i hope this will be of assistance , this particular set is quite rare, not very often such big steck collections come for sale on ebay. i think if it goes for say 300-400 euros it will a very good price for any playmo parts and sets seller and an amazing deal for a collector. just think how many sets you can build with these, its serious steck numbers !!!!!! I am itching to buy more steck but i know i need to buy some more klickies, trees etc etc as i have been doing the past days or so ( see the thread Medieval city of mine) but i wouldn't do so if i didnt have the steck . I have been buying playmobil since 1978 and i steck i bought back then is as good as it was still today .. awesome staff and i would urge you if you want to build some serious steck designs to go for that set !!!!
-
Thanks for the eencouragement Giorginetto! We'll see where the bid is when I come home from the weekend.
I really want to but it is a lot. We'll see knowing me I'll probably go for it. Just havent decided yet!
-
. We'll see knowing me I'll probably go for it.
You aint alone, I and many others are like that also in this forum !!! ;D ;D ;D ;D
-

Indeed!!! I am here too!!! I cannot bid right now (although I am itching like crazy) so my hopes rest with Gis!!! Hope you get them and have a great steck fun time!!! ---this from a man who has bought 8 3666 castles... and two more are on their way!!!!
-

10 x 3666 !!!!!!!!!!!!! Impressive Panos , totally impressive !!!!!
-
Yes Panos, thats a great lot of Steck!
In other news, l I got a box of loose parts today which has about 40 or so piece of wall and various other bits. Might start working on expanding tonight, because I also got another 3667. Also had some more Steck succes on Ebay today :-) And got a wizards workshop earlier this week!!!
Need to focus...where to start!
So much to do so little time :-)
-
If I had a job right now I would throw all my money into it and bid on it...
I think I would have enough. ;D
-
With all the new Steck I of course couldnt resist building something (eventhough it's 2:10 am now)
So here is the Sages Tower for the village of Winterhaven!
In the first picture you can see roughly how big the tower is. It will stay the tallest building in the city standing at 5 steck high.
In the second picture you see that the shape of the tower makes it hard for flooring. I will make some custom floors from wood!
In the third picture I decided to try and capture the dominating presence of the tower. It's hard without anything to relate tom, but I think it works!
ENJOY!
-
That's a very nice tower. It reminds me of the 1965 Universal film The Warlord.
-
Wow Gis, looking fab! I must get me some steck, but like many of us, don't have the free funds at the moment. Let us know if you win that big pile..I see it is well over 350 euro now.
-
Flooring wouldn't be too dificult for that tower Gis...
You could use the rounded floor pieces from set 5725 if you dont mind having small gaps in your floor sections. (Very small gaps... ;) )
I would like to congradulat you on the construction of that tower,
It is just the type of tower I was hoping to create though I never would have thought of this...
Mind if I "steal" the design? Not that I have enough steck to make it anyway,
But one day... ;D
-
WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW Gis this is tha most impreseive single playmobil tower i have ever seen!!! Congratulations!!! Such skills!!!! :wow: :wow: :wow: :wow: :wow: :wow: :wow: I've never thought of combining more than cemy round steck pieces for a tower!!!!! WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW
-
Thanks for the kind words Justindo, Lindama, WoT and WK! I must admit that I was pretty pleased with the effect myself.
WoT thanks for your suggestion and I thought of it the only problem is I also want to install stairs and that means there is only room for 2 of the rounded floor pieces per level leaving lots of empty space. I will do it however as I don't have the time to make it in wood At the moment :-)
Debating what the built next I think the Main castle is going to be a challenge :-)
-

Judging on the tower...I think we are in for a great building!!!
-
Impressive tower !!!!!
-

Agreed! :)
-
That big collection of steck went finally for 508 euros, a high price but considering all the sets and klickies i think its pretty ok, my estgimate was that this collection was worth round 350 euros ... so much steck!!!!
-
Very nice tower indeed. There are bound to be living some wizards up there, no?
-
Thanks your kind words Giorginetto and Ali Baba. There will just be one person living in the tower. I'll be telling those stories in more details at a later date. I just want to build, build, build now. Details will come later :-)

My final bid was 450. It's a shame it only went for 58 more but 450 was already slightly over the max I was planning on bidding :-)
ION I received a nice load of Steck this weekend. it was advertised as "Big lot of castles" but was basically a 3666 with some parts missing, but lots of extra's. In the end it was mine for 75 Euro (including shipping). While going through the box which really contained LOTS of steck (me very happy) it also had some parts of a none castle building (which wasn't evident from the pictures. Then all of a sudden I came across a:
*drum roll*
a FOUR WAY CONNECTOR!!!
It was a great little treasure buried in heaps of steck.
I started working on the main castle yesterday but had some issues getting the dimensions right. or more I was back and forth over the right dimensions. I will make sure to finalize the dimensions this weeke so I can built it over the weekend.
The most dissapointing thing about the steck haul though was the fact that it only had half the roof of the 3666 house. I guess I'll live *happily mumbles something which might very well be 4wayconnector"*
-
My wife was frowning at me when I had her on the phone earlier. SEVEN PACKETS arrived today apparently...YAY!
So lots of building going to happen this weekend, so I thought I'd share my castle design with you. Let me know what you think or where it can improve.
Thanks for looking!
-
Is this a 6 floor castle Gis? I am not really sure what am I seeing here...
-
7 floors, if I read the plans correctly.
Looks promising. I'd love to see it when its built.
-
WK: 7 floors indeed although the last ones are just the towers. Maybe the towers will get an extra floor depending how it looks!
Ali Baba: Thank you. I can't wait to start building this weekend!
-
WK: 7 floors indeed although the last ones are just the towers. Maybe the towers will get an extra floor depending how it looks!
That is going to be one BIG castle!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D steck, steck, steck, steck!!! (and can hear the crowd cheering!!!)
-
I am starting the built tonight...hope to have pictures by the end of the weekend :-) My fingers are itching!! I first need to open all the next packets, which will be a joy of its own!
-
Looks AWSOME Gis! ;D
What is the red for? ???
I can't wait to see the actual castle,
I hope you have fun opening all your packages! :)
-
Thanks WoT! The red is for the roof.
Well I did what I can do for now and here are some of my findings.
1) You never have enough Steck
2) See 1)
3) Designing huge steck buildings is hard, specifically making sure flooring works.
4) Why is there so little flooring! I am only able to floor maybe 5 procent of my building
5) I had a lot of fun, the kids even joined in for small periods!!!
So because of the above findings I was forced to make it only 6 stories high instead of 7. This meant that the grand room is now only one floor high and the kitchen has moved to the lower floor and it's now kitchen/stockroom instead of just a stockroom.
There are no floors inside the building. Only what you are able to see from the outside has floors. All the internal walls are in though, might need to make my own floors because buying the amount I need from ebay would take a long time and be very costly. I'll start buying bits and pieces but well make my own wooden flooring for now I think, opinions, experiences?
I really dont have enough doors nor brown walkthrough's (hope you understand what I mean with that) ended up using windows instead od doors internally.
But eventthough I had a lot of fun building this and I hope you enjoy the picture.

I have that problem too, The floors, especially the square ones, are really expensive, once i payed 5.99 euros for one on ebay, not invluding the postage cost...doors are also a problem...
Despite that, a really magnificent work Gis!!!!! congratulations!!!! I love the square towers!!!
-
Yeap flooring is a problem and so is itnernal walls. i like my designs to be 100% realisitv and had to buy so much additional flooring and fortification stands and interconnectors etc etc to make it work. It never ends !!!
-
Great building, Gis!
I too do not have enought flooring and plan to make my own. I'll start a thread in the how-to section, so we can compare ideas!

I have a friend who is really into woodworks
And has made lots of wooden Playmobil like things.
Here is his YouTube page:

I don't have his email,
But you could communicate through YouTube if that works for you.

intresting video!!!! how do they make the klickys walk and move?

Its called stopmotion Palymo1989.
I am into it too,
First you take a picture of your klicky,
Then you move him a little bit,
Take another picture,
Move him a little bit... Repeat 100,000 times! 8}

Yes,
It generally takes me about a week to take enough pictures for a 7-8 minute long video.

Thanks WK! I don't want to spend to much more on Steck for now. Have enough to build some nice things and we do have a Zoo to built as well. Our playmoden is slowly coming together as we keep moving stuff out of it. But we still have some time to go before it is 100% ready! Then we should book a lot more progress on our projects.
Yeap flooring is a problem and so is itnernal walls. i like my designs to be 100% realisitv and had to buy so much additional flooring and fortification stands and interconnectors etc etc to make it work. It never ends !!!
At least it's a shared pain :-) And I already had the feeling it never ends. I was debating wether eventhough I like the current design I should make it smaller as to free some Steck because I still need to make lots of buildings to complete my town. I guess it's a long term project :-)
Great building, Gis!
I too do not have enought flooring and plan to make my own. I'll start a thread in the how-to section, so we can compare ideas!

Built steck fellow playmo fans !!! more and more steck designs perhaps they will convince playmobil to bring steck back and bring back steck medieval inns, taylor houses etc etc
-
I would love to see some cheap Playmobil houses,
They all seem to expensive!
And the old shoppes returned (the baker, the potter, the blacksmith!). ;D

that's what i'am afraid of !!!! for these house yes i would like to see them again been realesed but not a lot of other sets
Why not? What sets would you not like to see re-released and why?
-
a lot and specifficly the victorian , if they will be realesed again they won't be rare if they come these medieval houses with new boxes or the brown ones it is ok .so the originall ones can be different than the new ones . althought i see it little difficult to see (let's say the bakery shop for ex.) again presented with box klicky's etc. on the ds perhaps or with some different colour exept white, as you see the houses that are realesed thourough ds are not like the originall ones the roofs are different wich is the point, only the colours of the walls are same!!!!

But they could still be rare,
If you tried ony collecting the sets from 1980's and not the modernized sets.
They might even make them different colors. ???

true but i think it's difficult to see the 3450 castle in any form .the houses yes perhaps but thourou ds not as new

So after much deliberation I decided that the Yellow/Green Tower was going to be the Coat of Arms for the city of Winterhaven. Therefore I could finally start working on the city guard.
The City Guard consists of a 10 people who are skilled fighters. There is also a Castle Guard which consists of 3. In times of need they can get up to 50 additional people that will function as the army consisting of mainly farmers and work people from the area. They are trained weekly and get a small reward for doing this.
There is one Knight living in Winterhaven who will lead the army who will be devided into 5 forces consisting of 10 warriors and 2 City Guards. The Castle Guard is mainly concerned with the safety of the king and will act as body guards in those times.
So here is a picture of City Guardman when not on duty
(http://s1033.photobucket.com/albums/a415/gorraxpb/IMG_2224.jpg)
When on duty, they wear a Breastplate (from 4666), a helmet and some form of weapon. Often a Crossbow when patrolling the battlements or halberds when on Gate Duty.
When the city is under attack, or when sometimes on special occasions the guards wear their Half Plate armour (legs and arm pieces from 4666) with a full helmet lined with chains (hair from 4666), shield and Longsword.
Here is an additional picture of two guards from the back, wearing the different armors
(http://s1033.photobucket.com/albums/a415/gorraxpb/IMG_2230.jpg)
Now all I need is an additional 18 klickies with the coat of arms on their back :-) (Should receive some soon...dont know exactly how many)
-
Cool!
I can't wait to see them. :)
There will be pictures... right?
It sounds like a nice setup.
Realistic too.
Is this a King's castle, or just a Lord's?
If it is a King's then he will also have Lords from surrounding castles.
They would come with their city gaurds and probably peasent militia when the King is under siege.
-

Thanks a lot WoT. Of course there will be pictures when there is more to show :-)
The thing is Winterhaven is VERY isolated and it really is just the size of a lords castle and a small one at that. However the Grandfather of the current King decidedthat he didn't want to be just a lord or baron, he wanted to be a kind and proclaimed the surrounding lands his kingdom.
I will post more details in regards to this in coming updates :-)
-
Gis, your custom Castle and City Guards look very nice. When in full armor, they look VERY well armed for men who aren't knights. Attackers beware! The back story with your city and king sounds very interesting too, and I anxiously await further information and developments. :)
-
Looks great Gis. Any opposing forces?
-
The backstory sounds awsome Gis...
Tell us more! :)
-
Very good.. keep it going sir and more pics !!!!

For now I am just working on the details of the city it self. Nothing is opposing it curently but we'll see what adventures will happen. The D&D campaign will start here so enough will happen.

Love the background story and the custom klickies!!! Well done Gis!!! :)9

Great job Gis with the klickies and the background story! Well done.

OK People it has been a while but I have made some redesigns and want to introduce a couple of people from Winterhaven to you.
First is Thair Coalstriker, the smith of Winterhaven. There is a lot to his back story but that will have to wait for another time. He has been here for a long time and is not going away for a while. (This klicky has been modified to have slightly shorter legs and shorter arms. This is the handy work of Manu (Huysmans2005) thanks again for the awesome work Manu!! I hope you like the result as much is me)
The next person is Rinald, he is the external tax collector. His office is at the gate and he makes sure all strangers are registered and pay a small tax depending on their purpose in Winterhaven.
Finally I want to introduce Kialto the Town Crier. Here we see him with his typical hand bell and a scroll tube probably containing an important announcement.
I have also added an extra floor to the smithy. Here you have an overview of the new building.
Here is a view of the interior on the lower level. In the back you see Thair Coalstriker hammering away on a great sword. In the front you see his apprentice, Barthon, sharpening the edge of a customers dagger.
Manu also made me a new entrance gate. The female connector parts are reversed and I really like this design much better than the old. THANKS AGAIN MANU!!
And finally a picture of Rinald’s office.

Great characters Gis!! I like the small window next to the gate!! It reminds me of the small dor next to the Canterbury Cathedral's main gate
-
Very cool! ;D
I can't wait to read even more about your city.
There will be updates in my story and map threads soon too. :)

So we have finally made a lot of progress on our Playmoden. Here you see our table…still need to put lots of boxes underneath though.
The surface is 190 cm (6’2) by 240 cm (7’10) so it’s a great start for diorama’s :)
We tried to lift the big castle of Winterhaven on the table however some of the old Steck connectors failed at the wrong moment, with the following result :(
(http://i1033.photobucket.com/albums/a415/gorraxpb/Guard%20Tower/IMG_2985.jpg)
I was debating on rebuilding it for a while already, because there were some flaws in the built. I guess I don’t have a choice anymore.
In the meantime I have built the Guard Tower of Winterhaven. Here you see the layout of the prison!
There are still two of the black bar steck pieces missing but I am hoping to get them in Wolfsburg! The hallway on the left, leads from the Treasure Chamber of the Castle to the 2x1 cell. There is no visible door in the cell and the only way to open it is from the castle side. There are two 1x1 holding cells and a bigger cell which includes the round towerbase. You can also see the outside stairs because the main entrance to the Guard Tower is situated on the first floor!
The following picture shows all the flooring in place and the ladder leading down to the prison. Obviously there is no ladder leading down into the round towerbase.
On the next layer of steck, you see two hallways and the main room. Guards that are not on duty have the possibility to relax in this room. One guard should be in this room at all times. For the rest of the levels the tower is used to go from level to level with ladders.
Here you see the completed second layer with flooring.
The thirds layer features the battlements on the left side wall. For the rest the rooms are almost identical to the floor below. However there is no access directly to the round tower. On this level you can find the sleeping quarters. The guards sleep in the main 2x2 room and the 2x1 room that is linked to the round tower is exclusive for Captain of the Guard. Even though there is no door and nothing blocking the other guards from going in, this has not been violated as there is a lot of trust between the guards.
Here you see the flooring of this floor done.
The rest of the tower can be easily imagined so here is the finished building.

I hope you enjoyed this step by step guide. I really enjoyed building this and it’s the first building which is completely finished! Ok I still need those two pieces but then it is done. It will of course still need its furniture and what not, but the building will be DONE! Well unless you make valid comments on how to improve it of course *grin*
What do you guys suggest to use as beds for the guards??
Any feedback is more than welcome. Now for rebuilding my castle….LOL
-
Very cool Gis!!! HUge tower! I can't wait to see the whole castle!!
As for the guards to sleep, what about the straw beds from Noah's arc? Too "humble" for the guards?
-
Ok, first things first. That's a wonderful playmoden. I'm so jealous! That's exactly what I have been dreaming of. :cloud9:
That is a nice lot of steck you've got there. Sorry the castle broke, but sometimes I think there's as much fun in setting it up than in having it finished. So, happy rebuilding!!! But it looks absolutely fantastic! Can't wait to see it furnished. :)9
-
YOUHOOHOO!!!! I love this Guard Tower!!!
Gis, you did a great and detailed work!! Good idea to have three panel rooms and not for or six as I try to do and eventually my fourway connectors finish quickly....
I also see that you don't bother blocking the back inner walls with stone-like walls instead of using the open wooden frames! Another good idea...it would certainly save me pieces...
You do a great work with flooring...I am stuck with my current project, so I'll have to come back to your pictures for reference... ;D
Thanks for the pics and inspiration, and always looking forward to more Gis!!!

Thanks a lot Gaston!
Currently there are a couple of other projects that are more urgent then the castle, so it will be a while...one day though....
Yeah, I am using that as sleeping places in the attic of the Inn so I don't feel it suited for the guards that need to be well rested. I think it will come down to fabricating something on my own.

We have been living in our house for 4 and a half years now and if we used the guest room to house guests 20 times it's a lot. So when we got more serious about our PM habit it was the obvious choice to convert it to a playmoden, Our collections has grown tremendously in the last 6 months and all that Steck was basically bought in the first three months after joining here, I blame Wolf Knight and Gioginetto for that mainly!!!

Thank you Sir Wolf, as a fellow "steck builder" your praise means a lot to me!
The main castle as you might remember measures 5x12 Steck units! There are only four wall units between the castle and the Tower, so making the tower to big would mean that it would start encroaching on the attention of the castle. I felt 4x4 would already be to big, but 2x2 was def to small so yeah 3x3 was the perfect measurement. It also only needs to house 10 guards of which three are awake at all times. so it really doesnt need to be any bigger. I am still working on the guards, of course I'll share when they are done!
In regards to the open back: Initially I was doing it to give me access to the inners of the building but the hallways changed that, still this way I can put some stuff in and the back of the castle will also mainly wooden frames (buying more in Wolfburg *grin*) When I started building this the castle was still in one piece. When I was done I had exactly 2 pieces of normal Steck wall left so it is also born out of necesity.
And yeah I did need to rebuilt a couple of times to make sure the flooring worked, but that was my main goal for this build, make the flooring work!! Once I found the way to do it I decided to copy it hence the similarity between the two upper 3x3 floors. All in all, I need to find the 2 Prison pieces and a black window (to replace the one tan one) in Wolfsburg, I don't think that should be a problem. If you need to have a fresh set of eyes look at your current project send me an email :-)

Me too!  >:D
btw....my first castle is still in transit...I think I'll get the firsts days of december. and one of my argentine sellers has reserved for me another small castle for my birthday in january, I can't wait! Im so anxious!
-
it's very beautifull gis i'am gonna copy it i printed your pictures ,the only differen't i'll do is put a square tower not the round one... very nice !!!!!! :)
-
That is a wonderful space you have there Gis - does it have a lockable door to make it child proof?
Your guard tower is wonderful, :wow: :wow: :wow:I think the flooring is amazing, that is where I always come unstuck, I never have enough of the right floors.
BTW I won't ask what you said when the castle collapsed! ;D >:D ;D

It doesn't have a lockable door as of yet, the kids have been good sofar, we'll see if it will become necesary, we have discussed it for sure!
Thanks a lot for your praise Elaine, like I said earlier, when I built the castle I was more focussed on the building then on the flooring. When I will rebuilt it, I will make sure to think about how the flooring will fit because it's a fun puzzle...I like puzzles! In regards to not having the right floors -> Ebay (just tell sandy you ordered them for me *wink*)
The kids were both in the room and Quinten was under the table when the castle collapsed. I knew it was a risk to lift it and when I saw the little gap appear in one of the old connectors I new it was likely to happen. It was 2 more centimeters up or ~70 cm down so we went up....and it came tumbling down!!! Quinten got quite a scare because it did make "some" noise so we were more concerned with consoling him!

no i don't :-\ i printed them from the computer's printer ..

just a question (I'm no expert, I say it everytime I can ), how do you put the clickies inside? It seems there are rooms where you can't get your hand in :-[
Do you have to dissemble the castle to placed them in? :-[

It's a very sane question Gaston....and I had a lot of internal debate about this.
Having excess to all my prison cells would mean a very open structure which is not very pleasing to the eye. However having it closed leads to "reduced" (non exisiting) accesibility. I decided to go for looks vs functionality.
If I ever need to photostories where the interior is needed I will tackle the problem then. *foreshadowing* I just really needed the guard tower built!

oh ok I get it.....
can't wait to have my castle at home!

You're first and second castle won't be enough Gaston...I think I was satisfied when I had the equivalent of like 8 castles....although I think I still need DOUBLE that to finish my plans for Winterhaven how I imagine it!
