Title: What is this bucket?
Post by: flatcat on May 28, 2010, 09:31:59
Hello Playmofriends

I'm still sorting out my draws, and have turned up this bucket type thing, but I am unsure as to where it comes from. I am sure it is playmobil as it is of the chrome plated variety and fells like Playmo. It has always lived in my Playmospace spares draw so I thought it could be something to do with that but had no luck finding it.

Stands 2cm tall

Thanks
Damo :)

Well, I would take a guess and say it is not Playmobil.
I have never seen a bucket design like this and I am not aware of a chrome plated item looking similiar to this one.

But I might be wrong...  ???

best,
socrates

I'd agree with Socrates.  I've never seen a chrome plated bucket Playmobil bucket, nor one with the handle clipping to the inside of the bucket.

Could it possibly be anything else - to be honest it doesn't really look much like a bucket but I just pressumed it was one because of the holes. It still does seem like Playmobil as it has got the usual marks on it etc :-\

Ah, can you show the usual marks in a photo or two?

You will have to trust me on this one. here is a pic I took of the inside, which has a raised ring with a '1' in the centre. unfortunately the pic did not come out but these marks are identical to a Playmospace helmet that I quickly found. I do honestly believe that this is Playmobil, and I will try and get another pic where you can see the similarities.

But here is the pic of the inside and hopefully you will recognise the marks:

There's a bucket in this set:

http://collectobil.com/catalogue/items/3124.htm

described as silver on playmoDB.  It is a set I have but, unfortunately, it is in store.

I have that set as well, and the bucket is much smaller than this one, and is silver coloured not silver plated :-\

Do you agree that mine could be Playmobil? :hmm:

Perhaps you could do a comparative shot with other Playmobil buckets for us.

The "usual mark" is just a mold mark, and would be used by many different manufacturers, so that doesn't help pin it down.

I've never seen a chromed bucket from Playmobil, and they have only a few basic styles in use. A bucket is, after all, a very old tool and the basic design is much the same now as it was in Roman times.

I would be surprised if it were - the evidence seems to be stacking up against it as regards size (bigger than usual), finish (no chromed version on playmoDB and chrome usually an early knights finish).

I am still positive that it is Playmobil of some kind - bucket or not. I have been trying to use my imagination to decide what else it could possibly be but with not much luck :(

It is telling me playmobil everytime I pick it up so will stick by this until proven correct/incorrect.

You're quite right to stick to your view until the evidence says "No" or "Almost certainly no".

Here is some more evidence in favour ;)

Yes perhaps a little oversize for a regular Klicky but perfect for a space man:

The bases are exactly the same sizes:

The similar number markings:

And finally a pic of the two for Martin:

Hey Damo, check out set 3244x  Western Artillery Cart under the western theme on Playmodb. It's an old set, & in the picture is a chrome looking bucket hanging on to a cannon ???!

I'm trying to think outside the box and figure out if it could be something besides a bucket...

I'm wondering if it is some sort of container from the hospital series which would have a lid to go with it.

I don't have time at the moment, but I was thinking of looking through the product archives on playmobil.de, looking closely at every set made during the years they were producing chromed acccessories. It's very likely this part was not inventoried on playmodb, since many sets that old are not.

What a plan! :D

I've aleady gone through every single page of he collector twice, but somebody on this planet must know where it comes from! :P

  Hello,

have somebody a picture of Play-big bucket, just to compare? Generaly a lot of worker accessories by Play-big are white, but there´s another colors too and chromed.

I don´t think that is Playmobil product.

Hope you find a answer.

Regards,
TJ

I agree with TCJ, this bucket is not playmobil at all but could be a playbig version. Do not forget that Playbigs are slightly taller than our beloved klickies, which could explain the bigger size of this bucket.
