Hi Richard
Unlimited amount of stecks? Do not get me wrong, I remember you saying you ran out of time but that is not what I expected. It is a beautiful castle and your collection and condition is unmatched but it just seems like you might need to have a new play-date with more time. I would put on the coffee pot extra strong or pop open some fermented grape juice and lets see it all  I do like how you did not create one of those weird castles that went to the ceiling. Your floor space seems open enough, so what I am getting at is Please Richard oh please show us some day what can be created with what I assume to be a very large collection of pristine classic Playmobil Knights :prays:

Sometimes it's interesting to see the "scale" of things.
In these three pictures, that show David snapping away with his camera, everyone should be able to get some idea of the size of Thornrose Castle.
Thornrose Castle was built as a "romantic" castle. And, attention to the esthetics of a fairy tale design was far more important to the creators, than building a massive war-time fortress!

From you original post I guess I got really excited to see some sprawling castle with all kinds of Playmobil treasures that I think you have. I wish I had a friend to come over and help me design a castle with my limited amount of stecks.

Perhaps, this is what you originally had in mind, Ras ...

Holy moly, that castle is huge!! :lens::(o): Seeing how completely it fills a 4' x 8' sheet of plywood really brings home what you are up against when trying to build in this scale. Thank you Richard for the sobering photos.
Designing a castle is not as easy as it looks.
Is that one of yours ?
Rasputin "The Mad Monk"
... your castle is stunning and like you said you were going for an esthetically correct and romantic design and you in my opinion you hit the nail on the head.

No! The photo was taken at a show in Germany. I'm sure that Macgayver remembers who built it. I have forgotten ... :-[

Built by Hannibal for one of the first Wolfsburg conventions.
I remember this, truly phenomenal! That is a life collection, thank you Michael for the photos!
There you go Martin, you could build one of these in your new space!
Richard, I think Thornrose Castle hit the nail on the head as a believeable real castle. There's an inner and outer bailey, the outer bailey being occupied by several houses forming a small adjoining town. Many English walled cities with castles grew like this, and as the whole structure is developed over decades if not centuries, it never stays a regular shape. I would be delighted if I could build something as believeable as this.
... not too long to wait to see how I can expand to fill the space available.
We call that the "goldfish syndrome", Martin ...
You will surely "expand" to the size of your "bowl" ... ;D
Thanks again and all the best,
Richard
Yes, the comedian George Carlin once said of 'Stuff' (which surely includes Playmobil!), that stuff is actually a liquid: it expands to fill the space available.
But oh to have that much 'liquid', and that much space!

It's BIG =) .. What's it like?, 2m x 1m?
How do I get my hands on such a collection? Anyone single? I'm willing to share my few pieces :*)

I think your Thornrose castle is very charming Richard.
The other issue for collections of this size is the space to display. Just where did you set this up?
It is true, a Playmobil castle does need some room to "grow" ... ;D
Lovely to see again these pictures of your awesome castle Richard . And great to see some ultra shiny nuremberg guards in action , i really hope they bring them back as a special for collector's one day !!! . A steck castle needs a lot of room indeed,     , these pictures reminded me of my steck collection and how much i want to set it all up again and take pictures of it all and share with you all . These pictures are very motivating , both the steck and the guards !!!!!Giorginetto which one is the Nuremberg guard? I've seen you mention them a lot but I don't know what klickie it is..... :(

I have a concern now where a 3666, Baron's Tower and Catapult Castle may lead.
For one more time i had to say that this castle is marvelous but this time i must also say that i love this spacy pool room Richard !!!!
Richard you mean there's a pool under the woods and the carpet??
That's cool!
When are we all going for a splash?? And some playmo play??!!
Cheers
Gaston
AWESOME! Ship battles would be so great there!
Too bad you are never there long enough to fill it up. :(
No need to feel bad for me, WoT ... ;)
The pool at our home in the Caribbean is a lot better for Playmobil Pirate ships ... ;D

That is such a great view Richard!
Do I remember correctly that you posted in another thread "somewhere" that these were actually picture where the plane was thrown? (hence my request for a disclaimer!)
Thanks, WoT!
And, the pool makes a great runway for Playmobil float planes ... ;D

If I interpret this (http://www.playmofriends.com/forum/index.php?topic=2430.msg28054#msg28054) message correctly he actually DOES throw them.
Start the process, get in place and as soon as you start to hear the camera go you throw the plane. then you just need to find the right one to use!
Hmmm ... That might work ... ;D
However, none of the planes or animals are ever thrown.
Chuck-a-vision is fine for use in movies, but for stills Photoshop is better.
