Hi everyone! I posted in the trading/parts wanted topic board several weeks ago that I am needing a front scraper blade & pivot attaching pin for my 3757 bulldozer project. I haven't had any offers of assistance so I decided to go ahead & show the project that I have been working on to this point of needing the scraper blade. The spot lights are used for night operations, & the large cable winch is used for steep angles of descent on hillsides. I hope you like the project so far.

Beautiful Bill, will this be a piece of fire fighting equipment? What theme is the unit from? Good luck on the scraper blade, will keep my eyes out.

Thank you Gepetto for the positive review! Yes, it will be assigned to District 1 Station 3 home of the forest fighting division of PCFD to battle forest fires. It started out an incomplete yellow construction 3757 bulldozer that was popular around the latter 1980's through the 1990's. It's one of my favorites! I hope I can find a scraper blade next to be able to put it in service!

Super cool.
Nice work.
I'm curious a bout your next project.

Good luck Bill! I really like the looks of this little dozer, I thought it might be from a circus set but construction makes sense. Nice paint job BTW.

Great work as ever, Bill. Do you think that the snowplough blade could be adapted to fit?
-
I really like your bull dozer, Bill :yup:
I hope you find the blade you need. Do you think it could be custom made?
I customized a caterpillar a long time ago to look like an old D4, kinda like
the one we had on the ranch. I'm sure I don't have the blade now. :( Drat!
Hope your hunt is successful.

Hi Bill
That dozer sure looks nice in the red :)9 It is one of my favorite pieces of equipment on any construction job. It is just too bad Playmobil only made the one and such a tiny one at that. It would be comparable to a cat D2 and what we need especially for any mining operation would be a D9 or greater with ROPS ( roll over protection system )
Thanks for sharing

Thank you, peetje, Gordon, Jimbo, & Ras for the positive reviews!

I've thought about the snowplow blade also Gordon, but I don't have one to compare it to this bulldozer currently. It may be a last ditch effort to customize one for temporary use, but I will need to keep the bulldozer as pure as possible in case an original blade becomes available so it can be outfitted with the proper scraper blade! I keep looking for the old bulldozer blade in job lots, but so far no luck :-\!

I agree Ras! The size is a little small for my liking too, but "Oh Well"!, at least they made one at some time! Maybe in the future they will do better like the current asphalt steam roller set #4048 versus its predecessor set #3533! We can only hope :crossed:!

Hi BW,
Thanks for the positive review! The bulldozer came without the front scraper blade, & I may need to customize one until an original one comes available.

Hi Bill,
I've not had time to photograph the snow plough blade yet, but looking at it I think it's a non-starter. It is a different profile and the although it looks like the pin on the blade would fit the hole in the 'dozer's fitting mechanism the surrounding parts on the 'dozer would prevent the blade actually fitting in place. However, I shall do some photos asap and post them.

Hi Bill,
very cool idea and looks very good !

Hi Bill,
not sure if this information is useful to you but the blade your after was still available from DS I managed to get two of them either late last year or early this can't remember exactly.
I used the part numbers from set 3277 which got me both the blade 22 9130 and the retaining pin 22 9150 the only difference is that the blade is a darker richer red than the original. Other parts may also still be availble from this set, I was also able to get the white bulldozer body!
Duckman.

Thanks Duckman for coming up with this info.
Bill, here are links to the parts:
http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showpart.pl?partnum=30-22-9130
http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showpart.pl?partnum=30-22-9140
and I'll check availability after Christmas and put them on my next DS order if they're available.

Thank you Andi, & Duckman :wow:, for the positive reviews & the new information regarding the alternate part numbers! Hopefully these parts are still available :crossed:! It looks like I will be making a new DS parts list for these awesome little bulldozers using this model instead of the 3757 original model!
I have always wanted a couple of the white bulldozers, but they are not seen here in the USA!
Thanks Gordon, I definitely want these items, & possibly in small quantities while they're still obtainable!
Thank you everybody for your support & help with this project! It is still a work in progress, with future pictures to be presented!

I think you may need this piece too, Bill:

Thanks Gepetto & Gordon!

Here at long last are the snowplough blade pics, Bill. Light has been so scarce here recently that I eventually decided to take them using flash.
-
Excellent! Thank you Gordon! I'm going to get one to see if I can temporarily adapt it to the bulldozer! I hope the new part numbers duckman gave me are still available too!

Hi :elf:
It really is too bad Playmobil did not make this part similar to the old ones . We could mount the blade on any vehicle with the front mount. I would have put it on my parts list and added it to a few other vehicles and snow cats. It really is something that made playmobil stand out for me how so many parts were interchangeable. I bought this new UNI-mog truck and did not know how the blade mounted untill now . I really like the little guide wheels it has. I have yet to open it and now that I want to I have to remember where I hid it.
I am surprised the white dozer parts are still available . I had never tried to order any thinking there was no way there would be anything left. I have always wanted a white dozer. The blue rims are a bit weird but I sure like the white .

Thanks for the pics Gordon :wow:

Hi Ras,
Don't bother trying to order the white bulldozer parts from USA DS, they told me they were all discontinued except for the 30040330 black pins, & handles, & H/L's. I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news :(!
BTW, Where did you find the picture of the 30043920 snow cat plow blade?
-
Hi Bill :elf:
I really did not get my hopes up. I was quite surprised to hear they may be in. I have been looking for the dozer for years. They rarely show up on auction sites in the US. With my patience I figure Playmobil will introduce a new larger one w/ROPS that will be better.
The picture came from Heather's DB under the theme "Winter Fun" set # 3469 . When I looked again I noticed another version with out teeth that has the guide wheels.

Okay, I see what you're talking about! I currently have the retired 3454 snowplow set, but not the new 4046 set yet!
-
The blade you showed with the teeth, Ras, is from the snow grader, used to level the snow on the piste at ski resorts. The set with the yellow Unimog (3454) I've just bought on eBay.co.uk. Not complete, it lacks a flag and one of the guide posts, but these are available for the 4046 snowplough. I've also adapted the snowplough blade from the 4046 to fit the construction Unimog, http://collectobil.com/catalogue/items/3755.htm. I'll try and post some pics to show how I did it today.
-
Hi :elf:
I think I really need to open these sets when I buy them :-[ Looking further into Gordons and Bills posts I see that I can use it on other trucks :P Boy do I get all spun around with collecting so many themes 8} Now where the heck did I put that box ???

Here's the mod I made. I used the following parts as a basis:
http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showpart.pl?partnum=30-28-4230
http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showpart.pl?partnum=30-22-9310
The first pic shows the construction Unimog with the massive front-mounted winch. The second one compares the size of the two winch mounts, the older one on the left and the current, smaller one, on the right. The 4046 snowplough attachment fitss the current mount. I cut off the triangular projection of the red front bumper block and the rear projections of the snowplough attachment and then glued them together with polystyrene cement. Careful positioning was needed to get the blade to sit right when mounted. The work needs a bit of tidying up before it's finally finished and I may paint the red block part grey to match the snowplough attachment.

Hi Gordon :elf:
Thank you for the pictures of your custom mount. I think this is starting to make sense :)
The dozer has the larger mount similar to the one you showed from the older trucks
The newer trucks List (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/your_set_list.pl?setlist=%0D%0A3181%0D%0A5716%0D%0A4087%0D%0A3191%0D%0A3219%0D%0A3399%0D%0A3346%0D%0A4420%0D%0A) will accommodate the new plow mount
The new plow has the new narrow mount which is different form the old plows
All we need to do now if find Bill a blade :P
