:hmm: in the german klickywelt.de forum there are some members going wild with some possible novelties for 2011.
:-\ the thread was started by a norwegian member, erik skaarup, and some say he is to be trusted (he could have a "source").
;) anyway these are/could be the new themes:
- modern city life with subway, etc.
- winter sports
- "glittering" fairytale
- western (el paso)
- racing cars
-
Interesting themes there . Please keep up informed on the informants info
-
Subway? COOL :yippee:!
-
Yes, as interesting as a subway could be I just do not understand how Playmobil® will be able to duplicate one ? By definition it needs to be underground. Will you attach it to the bottom of your table with suction cups and put all the buildings on top ? or are they going to sell elevated street sections ? I am very curious to see it, if it come to fruition .
I do hope the western theme gets a new round of parts . After collecting it for a while I am getting a little bored of the same things coming up on Ebay . I am only missing the more expensive sets and I think this theme could use some life.
As for the winter sports, racing, and fairytale I again just hope its new and not a bunch of recycled parts . Maybe some of that money (http://www.playmofriends.com/forum/index.php?topic=3723.0) being spent over in Malta went for new molds .
-
Subway?! WAY COOL ! If it becomes a reality, it will be interesting to see how it's achieved!
-
Did someone say "Western"?! :)
-
Ah dudes, it is probably just going to be the train and not the whole metro system!
Based on the U-BAHN:
-
Hmmm Western!! Do we dare to hope for new western train additions =)
-
oh dear ... if there's really going tobe a subway like the U-Bahn then I'm afraid I'm definitly doomed.
Modern living, here I come ...
(as far as my purse allows me :yup: )

I'd love to see some more western buildings like colorado springs or the blue and white church? but please no more sheriffs or forts!
Emma
-
from what we've seen of 2010 already I know it will be an expensive year for me.....sounds like my bank card will suffer in 2011 now too!!!!
D'oh
Claire
-
I'd love to see them do some buildings in Southwest style Spanish architecture. Imagine how beautiful a train station with arches would be or an adobe fort. The parts could be used with the Roman and new Pirate Conquistador theme.

Well Claire, how else will you reach 2,000 sets? :D

I know this topic is old but by searching for various topics I found this thread very interesting - especially since more than a year has passed and I was wondering if there has been any more news on these possible (?) future lines. Especially concerning the western theme.
-
please do tell if there is new infomation
-
Haven't we already seen the new sets for 2011? ??? Here: http://www.playmofriends.com/forum/index.php?topic=5701.0
Isn't this all there will be, or are there more later in the year?

Yes, we have. However, just because someone gets a heads up about future sets, it might not be that year but a year or two later. I was wondering if these might be announced in 2011, for instance.
-
Glittering fairytale? Sounds very interesting, but why is it called glittering???
-
Maybe the plastic will have embedded glitter. That is a trend in girl's toys these days. All these themes sound very interesting. I hope to see them one day!
-
I'm afraid it might be as simple as that. Hope not, though.
-
Playmobil has used glitter embedded plastic before in the Circus and Fairytale themes, so I think it's a reasonable assumption.
The sets posted about in the other thread are just the 2010/2011 catalog sets. There will be others released later in the year. We don't usually hear about those until around the time of the Toy Fair in February. Probably another month or so.
-
cool keep us posted
-
Cool. I've only been in touch with the playmobil "community" for a couple years, so I still haven't entirely caught on to the schedule of when things are released etc. Can someone who has been at this longer explain it?
-
there are 2 realeases per year, in february and August.
So in August you know what will be available in Germany in February. And in Feburary you know what you can get from august on. I think that is how it works. right people? ;D :rudy:
-
Western El Paso,
That has me going gaga. I can't wait to see what it is, if it's true.... :prays: :prays:
-
Whoa- I had already forgotten what Germany is getting in the first part of next year- I love the farm house.
Got to remember to be happy with this year's novelties- Gotta get the secret agent hideout- who made it into an Opium Den?
I was thinking today about things I can do with it...
-
Here is the thread with the opium den Coyote:

The secret agent theme is very meh... but this building does have some possibilites.

Oh, ok. That sounds right I think. And then what comes out in germany in february comes out internationally the next february, right?

I think it is.... first germany, 6 months later, rest of Europe.... 6 more months later rest of the world. correct me if Im wrong please. :rudy:

When you look at all the sets they discontinued for this year and look at the paltry few that are listed as new ones, it is quite imbalanced with a lot more gone than new ones.
-
Yeah it kind of seems like there isn't much available in the US. I think it just seems like that to me because there isn't much in the way of zoo stuff, and the selection of animals you can order through DS has really dwindled. Should be a lot of the african animals coming available to order extras of sometime next year, though. I really want several warthogs.
-
Race Cars.............. that sounds very very promising , i hope to see a Playmobil POrsche 911 one day , they did make a Playmobil BMW Z4 some years ago and quite a few back a car that looked very much like the Ferrari 348 Convertible.. Aww i hope to see Playmobil Porsche and Ferraris !!!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D

I doubt they will do it, due to licensing costs... The Z4 and the mercedes were both from the playcar-edition from herpa and not really playmobil. A nice thing to have though.
But the new white pimp-my-ride-set (http://www.playmofriends.com/forum/index.php?topic=5701.msg82577#msg82577) covers pretty much my imagination of a porsche after all... :D
best,

Hey! Those new custom cars have working headlights? Sweet!

Yeah, the white car does look a lot like a Porsche and the black like a BMW.
I just wish they had more realistic looking Harleys ...
-
I cant see any of these on my work PC !!!! Aaaaaaggrrrr , need to be patient until i get home or if someone can post here as attachments
As my other big passion and hobby in life is cars, it is 110% sure i wil lbe getting these sets as i have many playmobil cars. Though I must say I am generally opposed to car tuning and some of the extreme mods often seen in cars, my philoshophy is instead of spending lots of money in upgrades spent in on a new/ better car . Anyways , i cant wait to see the headlights in a playmo car !!! ;D ;D ;D ;D

Info from "Ikeama" on "Klickywelt":
Some themes that are being discontinued or will be replaced/updated in 2011 in Playmobil's "homemarket" Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands (in 2012 for the rest of Earth):
Egypt-theme
Forest-theme
Pirates- and Ghostpirates-theme
Fairytale/Princes Castle -theme
Treasure Hunters -theme
Dynosaur-theme
Farmer-theme
Soccer-theme
-
wow! that's a lot! I hope they will release a few whole new themes!!! Like Japanese or Greek!!!! ;D ;D
-
Yes! It makes room for more great themes! ;D
And you did say some of them are going to be updated. I seriously doubt pirates or fairytale castle or farm would be discontinued. Those are pretty permanent themes.
Treasure hunters... is that the weird jungle theme with the giant lizards? It hasn't been around long, but I'm not surprised. It was pretty stupid.
-
Correction:
Treasure-hunters-theme is not discontinued; only 2 sets are going:
* Camp with giant snake
* Temple Guard with green lightweapon
Concerning Fairytale Castle -theme, I hope it won't be replaced with a "glittering Barbie-like farty...fairytale" -theme" like some think it will...
::) ;D
Egyptian civilisation is already completely annihilated... perhaps the design-team died of a mysterious disease and so the pyramid and tombes have to go. Or is it a biblic plague that stroke this theme so soon?
:omg:
About the fearless Pirates and their ship, the theme was only renewed just a few years ago... ??? The ship wasn't as realistic as it's predecessor the 3940 (US 3286) and lacked a true gundeck, but the pirate-klickies themself were pretty good IHMO.
The Ghostpirates seem to have been released of their curse and are retired to Hell. >:D
Question now is, what the new pirateship will look like (assuming there will be a new one, I can't believe they would discontinue the theme without replacement).
Will it be more realistic from our viewpoint and resemble the "3940 frigate" or be an updated 3940 :arrr: OR could it be perhaps a superior one like an English trimaster (ship of The Line) f.e. :crossed: :captain:,
OR... will it be as or even more kiddish/Fisherprice as the present one?! :0
-
Maybe it will be expandable, like we've been wishing for. Hey, we can dream, can't we?
-
Maybe it will be expandable, like we've been wishing for.
I hope so. :) But this idea was brought up during the past year, if I remember well. If there's to be a new pirateship, it was probably designed earlier...
we can dream, can't we?
Yes we can! ;)
-
Are you saying they are discontinueing the entire Pirate theme?!?!
-
I hope not! I've been waiting on getting any pirates (except the one that's your avatar -- he jumped into my cart at Chapters a few weeks ago) because I don't think my son's ready for them yet. I'm not yet able to justify getting a pirate ship just for me, though if I keep reading here it's probably just a matter of time.
How soon after they discontinue sets are they out of the shops in Germany? I'm tagging along on a business trip my husband's doing in early May to Germany & Italy. I was already looking forward to being able to get not-yet-released-everywhere-else sets, but if there's a chance of getting some discounted discontinued ones that would be great too.
If anyone has any great toy stores to recommend in Stuttgart or Munich, I'm all ears.
-
I am sure Playmobil will be EVERYWHERE there. At least nothing like we have here.
I would take the time and visit:
http://www.playmobil-funpark.de/ (http://www.playmobil-funpark.de/)
I would certainly hope they are not going to get rid of the pirates altogether but introduce all new sets.
If they get rid of them for next year in Germany, then it will be the year after next here. I guess a good thing could be that if they discontinue things then we can always get what has been discontinued at Winners come the Fall.
-
Lack of planning, short-sightedness and what have you.
Instead of introducing silly, still-born themese like ghost pirates and jungle thieves (or whatever that was), they should have been expanding other themes, like the Roman ones. Let's face it and be realistic guys, there is little chance of ever seeing a Japanese or Oriental theme - it's too specialised and the kids care little about pagodas, samurais and suchlike. But with the Roman theme, there was so much that couldve been done with it.
Such a shame!
-
L*%$ is introducing a ninja theme by the looks of it....we all know there seems to be a tendency of the two companies to release similar things...so who knows....
I just really think it's funny if they make a Ninja theme and replace the pirates with it :-)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pirates_VS_Ninjas
-
Are you saying they are discontinueing the entire Pirate theme?!?!
I think it's more likely to be replaced by a re-make of the same theme.
... Instead of introducing silly, still-born themese like ghost pirates and jungle thieves (or whatever that was), ... But with the Roman theme, there was so much that couldve been done with it. ...
Actually, the ghost pirates theme is quite popular here. And it is has more appeal to my kids as the romans which they consifer to be "just another knight" ...
Even the jungle thieves theme would get played with. I am sure. These have plenty of "links" with their world. The romans much less so.
It would have been a extremely cool theme if they had expanded it further, though I doubt very much it did well and doubt even more the extentions would have done better.
It's just too specialised. I think.

Release Germany
6 Months later Rest of Europe (Excluding UK (and Greece???))
6 Months later Rest of the World
Does that make more sense Gaston?
-
what do you mean? :hmm: :-[ I don't get it :P
The UK gets the new releases 12 months after Germany and six months after the rest of Europe, that is, in the same year as, for example, the USA.

OOOh ok I get it now..... I didn't know that!
Thanx for the explanation.
Thank you Gis too
-

It's also an olde joke. You would probably have to be of British descent to have heard it, though.
-

Thats a good one!!!   I always love this joke!!!
Release Germany

6 Months later Rest of the World
Its a whole year for Greece actually... But I'll know for sure this year... The new castles came out in september 2010 right? We will probably get them february 2011...If not, june 2011...
-
Well I have never heard that joke, sorry :P
@Panos.... don't you have one of the new castles? or you got that from ebay?
-
BTW...Im SOOOOOO happy!!! there are new sets in Argentina. I guess a new importation , because they are everywhere!!! The last thing in toy store were the egipt theme. but today I saw Faries, and ghost pirates, construction, farm, forest, dollhouse, race cars and more!!!..... I couldn't belive it. I have never seen some of them.... live!
I know this mean nothing to you guys, but here is a fantastic improvement. I couldn't resist....I mean SANTA couldn't resist and got a pirate set for me!!!!!
So doing the maths.... in almost 2011 Im getting sets from around 2006..., when will a get the sets from 2011?? :'(
I better go to Europe soon ....
-
the fewer new appealing new themes/sets they release next year the better for my wallet
ok call me crazy, but I still need to catch up the the themes that I didn't get sets from all the time I was absent
-
That is really exciting, Gaston! Looking at a small picture online just isn't the same as picking up a huge box and really examining it up close to see all the details. The only thing better is opening the box! I always get really excited to see sets I want in the store, even if they have been available to me online forever. Even if I was never interested in a set before, sometimes I end up getting it anyway after I see it "live."
-

By the time you get to buy all the sets you want from 2006, it will be time to buy the stuff from 2007 and then 2008 and you will be getting all you want that way and then the 2011 stuff will arrive when you need it. :)
Playmobil, really does have SO much out there that it is very hard to be able to buy it all.
Hmm, I wonder if that has anything to do with how much they are getting rid of. There are only so many dollars floating around that parents can use for toys and they buy only so much. If there are 30 really good sets out there and you can only afford to buy 4 or 5 of them, they other 25 or 26 get left and sales drop.
Maybe Playmobil should really reduce the amounts of sets they have and themese and just have fewer, but with more effort put into them to make them the best they can be.
-
Yes, but no toy company would expect every family to buy every toy they make. The wider selection is more to account for different tastes in what appeals to each child. I think what they try to do is have sets parents can afford.
Out of curiosity, are there any collectors who buy every set playmobil makes?
-
Axel.....I think.
Am I right? :P
-
nope - you;re wrong.
Axel relies on Geobra for the new sets and on other collectors for the rest.

oh!

There is a collector from Norway who has most - if not all - of the sets every made - at least that is his reputation! I forget his name and if he is here at Playmofriends but he's a regular at klickywelt.

Who's Axel?

Yeah, I wish i could have a playmobil store. :cloud9:

I know! mine too! I'm so happy playmobil finally released it
-
have these been posted already? i can't find them in any of the two 2011 threads on the forum...
-
this is obviously inspired by disney's pirates of the caribbean
according to laszlo on the spanish forum (who posted these pictures) it's an invitation for a press conference on january 26th - the images are a sneak peek of up coming sets this year - i LOVE the new pirate design, and the vegetation of the island
the invitation also says: "from stone age to the future, from romanticism of tales to pirate adventures, fantasy has no limits..."
i wonder if a new theme with cave men and mammooths will be released?
and 'the future'???
-
I LOVE the new rapier! Cant wait for these to come out
-
Wow I've never seen this before! this is so cool!
Well.... cave men would be a nice add to the dino theme!
This is revealing!...can't wait till 26th January!!!!!
-
:o OMG !!! :o
If that's an image of things to come. And if they look as good I think they do ... then I am in serious trouble!
... this is obviously inspired by disney's pirates of the caribbean ...
Why? I mean ... it looks just as much as all the other Pirate movies I know.

- Cutthroat Island
- Yellowbeard
to name a few ...

Why is this particulary Pirates of the Caribbean?

Oh, come, come, there were pirates in the Caribbean before Disney thought of it!
-
That looks awesome! I love the island-
Though I agree that Pirates of the Caribbean was probably a big influence- Those movies (though I hated 2&3) had a particular style that was somewhat different from earlier movies, which does seem emulated in what little we've seen here.
Of course, it also the pirate movie kids would be most familiar with...
-
I like the new pirates, and there are new trees and flowers from the new theme. Sadly we are given more and more parrots again.
New sword and headband too...great
-
Thank you for sharing this, Luis! We have exciting things to look forward to!
-
Wow this looks really awesome. It's not my theme but i like the new style of the pirates. The headliner is interesting too...a stoneage-theme would be great!!
Edit: I forgot to say: Hooray, we'll get more parrots... ::)
-
There are some really interesting new plant shapes on that island. Some sort of land That Time Forgot theme? Mixing Jungle and Pirates more certainly.

hey, ok ok don't hate! I know that...BUT why didn't playmobil come up with this idea before then? :hmm: seems they're taking advantage of the new movie release to sell more, which I really don't care b/c I'm not a fan of this theme lol ;D (I think? :o )

Why come up with the idea first when someone else can do so and you can "piggy back" on their publicity? ;D
-
HI
Yes I do not think we have seen these Pirates before. SO thank you for posting them. I really like the new parts like the sword and plants.
Is that the old island with more holes for plants or is it an all new one ? It also looks like this is the first full body tattoos we get and in multi colors .
I know it is not entirely true but even this looks like it is getting a fantasy element to it. The Era of Fantasy is upon us
Rasputin "The Mad Monk"
-
I love the new pirate and especially his rapier. ;D
And sorry to burst your bubble Gaston, but cavemen and dinosaurs are seperated by millions of years. I know there's lots of old movies with the two together, but I'd rather see some wooly mammoths and saber tooth tigers.
-
Does that look like bamboo on the island? I've been wishing they would make bamboo for the pandas.

i don't think a toy has to be historically correct, we can now expect anything :o
-
Does that look like bamboo on the island? I've been wishing they would make bamboo for the pandas.
Mmh i think it's reed(?) (google says that's the right english word for those plants that grow in shallow water *smile*) but it looks very similar to bamboo and i'm sure your pandas won't mind if you put it in their enclosure ;)
-
Yes, i also thought they might be some kind of reeds.
-
I like the pirate pics. Thanks for sharing. Looks like the pirate has a torso tattoo that going into his arm. This guy would look great in my biker gang.

Oh my gosh!!! :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o I just saw these pirate pictures!!!!
I WANT I WANT I WANT!!!!
Thanks you Luis!!!

I know....but talking about fantasy.... ;)º
I get what your saying, but I think it's a strange myth to propagate for a company that prides itself on being an educational toy. ;) But we are just speculating anyway. And who am I kidding, any new playmobil, historically accurate or not, gets me excited.
-
Saw the piccies from the pirate & island on Klickywelt...
Can't wait to see their new ship!
Hopefully it looks more like the previous 3940 (US 3286) with a true canon-deck rather then the just discontinued 4290 with the red hull & ugly skull on the bow...
-

With or without dinosaurs, cavemen would be AWESOME! :yup:
Cavemen would be awesome. A whole ice-age era tribe. Think Clan of the Cave Bear.
I want the Caveman Special now.

Me too!
-
i have that special, i think it dates 2002
before i got it i always thought it was a native american - i hope pm designed a more realistic one, if a cave men theme is really released

Actually, to be technical that's only a theory of science. It has never been proven as science fact. ;D
-
Ohh, I'm excited for the new pirates. I like the new sword. That island looks big, like the original one. I didn't think we would ever get another big chunky island like that again--one that actually looks like an entire small island. Cool.
-
the island has a aztec calendar or something like it on the rocks

It looks like I will be buying most of my Playmobil online there isn't a Target store in the St. Louis that carries Playmobil. This is where I bought most of my Playmobil. I do not know why they stopped carring Playmobil, all though most carried themes I do not collect such as town, mermiads, and the fantasy knights. I bought all the decent sets in Knights, Pirates, etc.. Especially the 2-pack Knight and Roman blisters.
I would like to see in 2-pack blisters:
a fat and a thin monk,
a mounted mexican and the foot mexican bandit,
more pirate sailors (please, no more peg legs),
knight men-at-arms,
Blue coats simular to the redcoats in the pirate theme,
more cowboys,
bring back the steers,
civil war cannon (I don't care if it shoots or not).
just a few suggestions,
-- Donmobil

That does look like the aztec calendar! Very intriguing.

Ohh, I'm excited for the new pirates. I like the new sword. That island looks big, like the original one. I didn't think we would ever get another big chunky island like that again--one that actually looks like an entire small island. Cool.
It looks like they re-used the basis of former pirate island from 1993

Actually, to be technical that's only a theory of science. It has never been proven as science fact. ;D
Does the world exist or are we all living inside the dream of a giant llama?
Sorry dude, it's pretty conclusive that dinosaurs and homo sapiens or any of the homo (insert hard to spell words here) were not around at the same time. That's what the fossil record tells us. That's the evidence we have. I think your splitting hairs and I don't want to derail this thread so this is my last word on the subject.

Rum "on the rocks"?

 Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum! :cham:

True ... but they have to find a single human bone next to a Dinosaur fossil and the evidence is overthrown. So ... it can still change (however unlikely that is)
Besides, everything is possible in fantasy!

Hi
I know if they do make a cave man I too would like them to look a lot less like Native Americans. Make them all hairy or something or better yet with a hunched over look with long arms  Ape like ;) also we need women that have hair that can be XXXXXXX never mind :P

eh, yes it has. Ever heard of carbon-dating ;)

HI
and that is another theory in itself  you could go in circles with this all your life ;)
I know if Playmobil were to make realistic cave men (and women) I would gladly have them in our Dinosaur diorama, I mean we already have that guy in the ATV with the cage there

Very good point. The current dinosaur theme is more fantasy than historically accurate. I'm not sure if the people are supposed to have time-traveled, or if it's modeled after Jurassic park, but I guess kids can pretend either way they want to!

Hee hee- there is really no such thing as anything being "proven" in science. Its all theory. But the problem with something like man and dinosaurs existing at the same time isn't remotely supported by the evidence, which very very strongly supports a 65 million year gap. However, people may except on faith their co-existence, and that's a different issue all together. ;D
I would love to see playmobil cavemen with more (from a scientific perspective) accurate prehistoric critters, rather than dinosaurs, but my guess is due to the love tykes have for dinos, if this line does materialize I'll betcha it'll have dinosaurs... 8}
-
I dunno, people have been asking for years for mammoths and sabre tooth cats, it just may be possible
-
That would be great. Somewhere I saw a diorama with custom wooly mammoths that were absolutely awesome!

Not really... first lesson: 1 +1 = 2
That's proven science. ;D

Exactly.
Though today people in the US may see "Raptors" flying over occasionally. ;)

I don't think this http://playmodb.org/setpics/4172.jpg is scientifically accurate.... so it might be not that bad to put together dinos and cavemen 0) 0) 0) 0)

Agreed. That camera is sooooo 1989. ;D

I think that if they DO introduce cavemen they won't pair them with Dino's in the sets as Dino's have just been done. Wooly's and Sabretooth Tigers sound so awesome...
*crosses fingers*

That's proven science. ;D
For Large values of 1 it could be 3 and for small values of 1 it could be 1 depending on rounding *grin* (1,49 + 1,49 = 2,98 ---> 1 + 1 = 3)

Excellent Idea Gis . :)
