Dear All,
I've acquired (in a job lot off Ebay) a couple of what I surmise might be very old Playmobil horses, either that or possibly copies?
They look like the classic Playmobil horse, but the saddle is incorporated into the body, all in one. The saddle looks like the classic, original saddle, it's just that it's been moulded as one with the body of the horse. One is black, the other is the classic Playmobil light tan or 'bay'.
They've got '(c)1974geobra' on the underside, so I'm guessing they're original Playmobil rather than copies.
Anyone else seen anything like these before? I looked at the Playmobil.de 'Product Archive', but all the horses from even the earliest years have removable black saddles. Any ideas?
Cheers,
AndrewL

Hello, Andrew ...
The moulded saddle was produced by Schaper (the USA licensee in the 1970s) for the McDonald's restaurant promotion.

Dear Richard,
Thanks for the info, and the very quick response. That must be it.
I will have to admit, though, that I don't remember Schaper horses like that, and the first Playmobil sets I had were Schaper sets in the late 70s. Of course, my parents weren't fans of McDonalds, so we rarely, if ever went into one, so that might explain why I never saw horses like the ones I described in my first post.
Anyway, many thanks again!

Yes they're around out there but not all that common. I think they only come in the two colors, a very dark brown/black, and the tan/caramel.

I don't know anything much else beyond what's been posted here. They can fairly be considered legitimate Playmo product certainly.

I've just found that I have a stark white one of these horses :rudy:
Does anyone have anymore info on these sets or a larger image of richard's leaflet, as I think i may have some of these sets and need help with making them up <*)

i have as well a very white one that was prodused by the lyra company greece that was producing under lisence playmobil .on the underneath part says lyra ,it could be schaper or famobil as well!!
-
I reckon my white one could be famobil because it came with a load of famobil western sets, along with the usual brown and dark brown variants. These are very nice horses which i like very much :)
Thanks for the info Playmo1989

I have one!!!
I had been wondering about the saddle too, but kept forgetting to ask.
The eyes are also a little higher on these horses then the Playmo ones.
I'm so glad that I know now.

old topic i know, but still. I found through a recent Ebay link of that Famobil 3925 set ;D and that uses these horses too!
Also this set uses the same horses, although the box shows a black separate saddle ??? It also depicts klickies with blonde hair, whilest the box only has black haired klickies.

So it's clear that the early boxes not always contain what the pictures state, and that Famobil used these horses also ;-)

It was common famobil boxes (and playmobil too) - "colors may vary".
I know for a fact they did. Among many others, there's our blonde (gay) cavalry as proof. Both the horse+2 men box AND the 7-klicky styrobox came with blonde guys. EVERY. SINGLE. ONE.
And, better yet, the Big Indian Chief (Adama!) from the 7-klicky styrobox came blonde.

I got this set for Easter 35 years ago or so...we were in Spain...but I returned it same day because the tchakos didn't hold on the heads and kept falling off...
Got the Native Americans instead afterwards...
