 Hi everyone,
I hope no one minds but I wanted to share some more of my work and after checking with Sylvia :wow:
she says it ok to link my You Tube Videos on a new thread.
I'll try to get some more pictures loaded in my albums but I keep running out of time. So for now the easy way is just to link the videos here.
I look forward to hearing from everyone and I'd love to hear how you think I can improve on them.
Thanks, Emma.
These include videos of my older work which Karim kindly shared with you before I joined up.

emma
your work is beautiful, intricately detailed and a delight to look at, my favorite is still the kitchen with all of the copper pots.
however,
since my laptop is right next to my playmobil medical center, i made sure i turned the screen so none of the klickies would see all of the wonderful food in the kitchen, and wonder when they were going to get to eat!!!!!!
kaethe
-
Beautiful!
I really like the details in the kitchen and the butcher's shop, very true to period, the kitchen in particular has so many pieces it must take hours to set up, but I think my favourite is the nursery. I'd be hanging out there to play with the toys!
-
 Well thanks every one for the great feedback :-*
??? Now if only I could get this much interest when I sell stuff I could fund a huge collection
Now to some thing a bit different. I've made my first story film. :-\ So if anyone likes Dr Who as well as Playmobil I think you'll get a laugh out of this video.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sZOaKY56NaY (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sZOaKY56NaY)
It's taken all day to set up, take pictures and make into a film. It might be a while before I try this again! ;D
I've enjoyed doing it, any excuse to play with my toys! Unfortunately I had to wreck my jungle scene so I could borrow bits of background, then I just stuffed it back in my shed. >:D It looks like a bombs gone of in there it would make you cry to see the chaos. Oh well a job for another day ::)

oh my goodness emma, that your dr. who /sherlock holmes movie must have taken hours to create. i have a friend who is a big dr. who fan, i can hardly wait for him to see it, your daleks and everything else were great.
kaethe
-
The Sherlock Holmes and Dr Who story was absolutely brilliant! :wow: :wow: :wow: kaethe told me about it knowing I am a big Dr Who fan. I love the Daleks! And K9! So were the soldiers a precursor to UNIT?
-
Bonjour Mademoiselle Emma
You truly are an inspiration and your vivid and playful imagination only equals your creativity :yup: !!!
Your story is captivating and I love your custom of the Great Room's conservatory windows.
:wow: :wow: :wow: :wow: :wow:

Good Morning All
I started the Dr Who video about 10.30am yesterday and by the time I'd uploaded it to You Tube (50Min's!) then added the link on here I didn't' manage to go to bed till 2.20am! :o
I'm glad every one seams to like it, I got a great email from my friend Molly Kay who I did this for, she's as us Brits would say tickled pink.
:) I might have to do another one maybe not with Dr Who unless I can come up with a good story. The hard bit was trying to find a way to defeat the Daleks - Ray guns next time
It will have to be more adventures of Sherlock Holmes although Molly Kay asked if I could do Poirot next :-\
This is why I have no time to post pics in my album :-[
I don't know how you guys manage to set up such great dioramas at shows it takes me far to long. :wow:
Em.

Emma,
Sorry I didn't see this before. Your scenes are amazing and details are unbelievable. I must say, I'm not that into the Victorian theme... but so far this morning I have watched all of your videos on youtube. They're awsome.

Hi
Just a small pick of my latest room setting. I wanted to a games room for a mansion. I've been asked how I come up with the scenes I do so here's a quick sort of run through with what was involved with this room.
First of all the idea - it was because of your kind comments about the kitchen that I was thinking of a stately home and whats in them. They've all got games rooms.
Then comes the wallpaper - I design this myself. I thought most games rooms have wood paneling so I picked a dark colour for the bottom and I wanted a nice rich pattern above. I picked green as I was thinking of the felt used on card tables.
This in turn led to the snooker table. I admit I didn't have the time to build my own so I got a friend to make me one.
I make up just a single room so its easy to work in and later to take pictures of. So I put in the wallpaper and a matching carpet if possible. Most of my rooms have dolls house carpet in for now as its easier to get hold of, but I am working on Victorian floor tile designs.
??? I hope I'm not boring every one with this. :hmm:
Then the fun part dressing a room. It starts with the large pieces of furniture. I try to think of a focal point or theme for a room. In this case the snooker table. I then put in round it things you'd expect to see in that sort of room. So some where nice to sit - green chairs. A table to play cards at and of course a drinks cabinet .
Once the larger items are in I then delve around in my boxes to see what little bits and bobs would look good in there just to dress the room up.
It sounds simple ??? So why does it take so long to do? Most of my time for a room like this is spent designing the wallpaper. Fitting up the room is not so bad .
It's the larger scenes that become alot more involved. From making boxes to perfume bottles or if theres food involved that can take a couple of days. If you look down this post to the picture of the Emporium with the lady in front of the meat counter you can see what I mean as I made all that food myself from clay. So it can take up a whole afternoon just making half a dozen ham joints. But I think it helps to add those extra finishing touches to make it all look more real.
Then it's just sitting back and admiring my handywork.
So here's this weeks creation.

This is not boring at all, Emma, it is actually quite the opposite. I am really impressed by your rooms... Even though it all looks like original Playmobil, I know that can't be. What do you use for you extra bits like the pool table, rugs, etc?

emma
again, this is incredible. thank you for sharing your photos, and (possibly some of your techniques). love your wallpapers, the scale, and the colors, and the pool table is sooooo great, perfect for the mansion.
kaethe

Hello Emma
I agree with Kaethe that your home designed wallpapers really add an extra dimension to your dioramas.
The busy Victorian kitchen diorama is my favorite as your attention to details is second to none.
Really cannot wait to see your new project develop...the "GH" building in your creative and talented hands should turn out to be one true masterpiece ;)...
Have fun and keep enchanting us :yup:!!!
Karim :)

Love the snooker table. i bought a mini one non playmobil that the people could just play with.
Did you change the wallpaper as well?
i havent changed that much in my victorian house, ive got a room thats the bathroom, a junk room, maids in the bedroom, wedding party outside on the main balcony, some security people on the roof, royal kitchen and a conservatory where the fellas hang out (but a baby has invaded their space lol).
Alexis
-
I love the Victrola. :wow:
-
Good Evening Folks
Did you change the wallpaper as well?
Hi Alexis, yes I did change it. I've changed all the wallpapers in my customised rooms, but I've kept a house with the extra floor, with all its original wallpapers and furniture sets so I've always got a sort of master copy of everything I can find. 0)
It's been a busy week again and I've got my latest offering for every one to have a look at. <:>
The first is the Victorian Emporium which you will have spotted in the Dr Who video for those that have watched it. Finally manage to finish it yesterday and take some good photos.
(For those who are wondering about the sign I've left space so that I can put some ones name above the door depending on who buys it.)

Next up is a combined film of what I'd like to think of as a French style Ladies drawing room. I was after trying to get furniture that reminded me of the beautiful white antique furniture you see in stately homes.
And a ornate Music Room. I came up with the wallpapers first on this room. I thought the panels looked very posh so I wanted a grand room set to go with it.

:wow: Thanks again for your comments they keep me going when I'm upto my eyeballs in paint and glue! Emma. :)9

I love the music room, being a musician myself. Beautiful work, as usual!

I like the drawing room. Beautiful details. My mother would live it, because she has also a room with white furniture in this style.

 Hello friends,
I've been a bit busy again this week so I've only just had chance to upload some more pictures and videos. I've also just created a Facebook page as Emma.J. Please feel free to come and visit.
A friend has asked me to customise a Sylvanian Families Mansion as a ladies dressmakers and a bookshop / reading room.
These are a few pictures of the finished building and a link to the new youtube video.

I've also done another study I'd just made a booklined wallpaper and wanted to show it off. So I've done a chess match as a focal point for the room.

Wow! I'm extremely impressed with your house made from buildings from the Western theme!
Thanks for the complement but I've never done the western theme. Only because I cant afford the buildings for myself never mind to try and customise. I'm thinking of doing a castle or Tudor house soon if I can make an interesting building - still working on the layout! ???
I've spent the weekend doing a new video story so if you'd like a laugh and have 10mins to spare this is the new link.
http://
It's based on a Halloween party I've done - I know it's a bit early but as I've just seen the first Christmas items in the shops today I can't be that bad. (It was tins of chocolates ! Not that I look at them :-[ )
Thanks again, Emma.

Personal favorite for me; Nice use of recombinatorics to create a realistic small shop (¿looks like maybe a cofee shop perhaps?).

Great Halloween diorama, Emma! Excellent work, as usual! :wow: :wow: :wow:

I love your rooms Emma, especially the reading room and dressmaker's. The Halloween video was also enjoyable and very clever, keep up the good work and thank you for sharing with us! :wow:

 Hello every one.
Well I'm sorry I've not been on here for a while I've been very busy. I've recently started a new job so I've just been short on time.
I have managed to do a few new things I'd like to share. I've a new very short video on You tube of an artist studio which was a nice little project in blue and white.

My next video will be of the Chocolate Shop I've just finished, soon as I get chance to take the outside pictures. But here is a sneak preview of the interior. It's been a long job as I've hand made all the chocs and most of the cakes 8}
I've missed all the news so I'll propably need a few days trying to catch up with everyone else's. :o So I look forward to catching up with you all. Emma

Hi Emma,
Somehow I'd completely missed this thread! Having looked at all your photos and You tube videos all I can really say is WOW!!
Your sets are fantastic, I really enjoyed your Sherlock Holmes and Dr Who video (I loved the Florence Nightingale figure). It really must take you hours to complete each set; do you paint all the furniture and print all the papers, magazines, chocolate wrappers etc. yourself too?
Thanks for showing us all your photos - I'll make sure I look out for the next ones.
Good Luck with selling your sets,
Elaine
-
Hello Emma! A chocolate shop! 8} 8} Your eyes must have crossed by the time you finished with those truffles and cakes, an't wait to see the finished video!
Loved your painter's studio video, the child behind the sofa was cute and I love the pocket watch the gentleman had, thanks for sharing your amazing creations with us!! :wow:
Gepetto
-
Hi Elaine,
thanks for the comments and having the time to look at my videos, I've a few more to put up soon as everything is ready to sell.
Yes it can take a long time to do some of the sets. I design all the room wallpapers myself and make up my own signs for the shops - some are better than others ::)
I also print out the papers and mags, and yes even paint the furniture and the buildings.
The basic rooms would take a couple of nonstop days to do. The larger ones a week, and the big buildings like the chocolate shop took about a month. It would have been quicker if I didn't make my own food, but that's half the fun! :yup:
I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that every thing will sell as I'd like to buy a second Victorian fence and some of the Egyption items.
Emma.
-
Hello Gepetto,
I did have a lot of fun making the truffles as it was the first time I'd tried doing these. The hard part was stacking them all up, by the end it wasn't just my eyes rolling there were a few choice words floating about as they kept rolling of my table! :-[
Em.
-
That chocolate shop is gorgeous. I manage a ("real life") chocolate store myself, and it looks wonderfully realistic for the period. :)
-
maybe you were absent for a while emma, but you came back with a blast. :o
what an incredible diorama.
thank you for showing it. :wow:
-
At last it's finished I've had to dodge the rain today to take the last of my chocolate shop pictures but I hope it's been worth it. ???
The new video is now on you tube:

Here's a couple more pics for every one to look at. If only it was all edible >:D
I think this is one of my favorites, I'm so tempted to keep it for myself. Oh well I'll just have to build another one next year.
I look forward to every ones opinion's :hmm:

That is tremendous Emma! I love it all but the lace for the tables, the displays and that cake on the second floor with the cascading strawberries are amazing!! :wow: :wow: The care and detail of the vignettes truly set this apart, well done and thank you!! :wow: :wow:

Emma,
Your scenes are FABULOUS! I just LOVE how you mix things together (clay things, doll house things and of course playmobil).
I always loved miniatures and I started, earlier this year, to create miniature things out of polymer clay. But I stopped shortly after getting into it because I had no idea what to do with the things I created!
Well duhh... I should have thought of that myself! Thanks for the inspiration!
I love miniatures... and I Love playmobil... :yup:
Thanks for sharing :)
-
:xmascheer: Happy new Year Everyone! 8}
I hope every one managed to get what they liked for Christmas. Saddly there was no Playmobil this year for me :'(
can you tell me if you use oil or acrylic painting ? thanks jeremy
Hi Jeremy, I've used Acrylic paints on the houses and furniture. I've found that a couple of coats will set quite well but you could cover them in a spray varnish if your worried about them being knocked.
Emma.
-
:rudy: Dear Feather, thanks very much for your kind comments and lovely email. I've only been making things from polymer clay on and off for about 6 months and that's mostly off as I just don't seam to make the time to do much :o.
I'll gladly give you any hints I can about making things, some things I've picked up from two books by Angie Scarr which are a must for any polymer clay artist, and some things are just trial and error.
As to the round tables they are covered gift boxes which you can pick up at a local craft centre then covered with nice card and ribbons.
;) Yes alot of my stuff is made from bits I have around the house or in my craft boxes. I've collected loads of things over the years as I've tried my hand at lots of hobbies including jewellery making, painting miniature models, making doll's house furniture, and now the polymer work.
:xholly: Emma. :xholly:

Wow... :wow: You're my new hero!
You and I are very similar in interests (I like to try anything I can put my hands on - art and craft speaking, that is). I, too, have accumulated a lot of material through the years. My problem is knowing what to do with the things once the interest fades a little. For some reason, I've never mixed crafts/techniques much. And only barely have I ever mixed mediums.
You are very creative and your work is so precise! It seems like you can have an object in your hands and picture in your head what it could be (I've never thought of taking small boxes to make display counters!)
I have to stop seeing things for what they are... and start seeing things for what they could be! lol
Have a lovely day :)
