Title: playmobil antex argentina
Post by: cachalote on May 08, 2009, 22:44:12
i was wondering if i am the only one who likes the argentinian sets antex makes in argentina.  ???
if you look at their site - http://www.antexandina.com.ar/ - everything seems a bit "out of time".  :hmm:
this "démodé" look is, nevertheless, very appealing to me.  :yup:
most of the figures still have the "platform" feet abandoned long ago by their german cousins but, somehow, they have a kind of truthfullness that the original german sets seem to be loosing.  :yup:
i leave you just with an underwater treasure hunt - its naiveté looks so "essential".

Thanks for the link, cachalote.  Like you, I like the rather dated look (something not limited to the Playmobil - the operation of the website is rather dated too!).  I particularly like the 3252 fire van, only the tales I hear of the poor quality and the price these things appear for on eBay put me off buying one.

Incidentally, I didn't realise that antex were still producing Playmobil.

I've just had a look at eBay in the UK and found a seller with sets at reasonable prices and postage. So now it's only the tales of poor quality which put me off.

Hello, Cachalote ...

For someone who wasn't able to add these four "antique" western buildings to their collection, this would be an excellent opportunity.

Especially if the quality of Antex has improved and is now equal to the quality of Playmobil Germany. Has the quality improved, Cachalote?

Thanks for the link.

All the best,
Richard

These two Antex sets are also rather interesting.

The "farm" building is made from the old Playmobil western horse stable.

And the blue police truck was the old green German police truck.

And, if you look closely at the hat and necktie/collar of the policeman in this set, it was originally produced by Mattel during the short time that Mattel had the Playmobil franchise in the United States.

Edit: Added the Mattel US policeman and western horse stable.

hello richard,
i can say that the quality has improved a little.  :)
but i have only 2 sets - an insufficcient number to produce a strong conclusion.  :-\
the picture of the older one says it all - strange painting borders, scars in the surface where the molds join.  :hmm:
the other one (only an official picture) is slightly better.
but both of them have a "strangeness" quality that i love.
in a way, they seem to come from a different world - and they actually do, from across the atlantic.
i don´t know if antex still produces them.
as far as i know the pirate sets were still in production in 2005

The Antex website seems current (the copyright is 2008). So, if Antex has ceased production, why would they keep the Playmobil sets on their website?

Cachalote, have you asked anyone over at Playclicks?

Hi Richard,

i had some of this Antex and heard antex had today a Licence (but i dont now realy), but you cant compare the qualitiy with the real playmobil, its a little bad.

At ebay you can get many ANTEX this time but realy hot price.

Here you can see some more older Antex ENJOY !

http://www.claudia-schott.de/Playmobil-Lizenz/ANTEX/antex.htm (http://www.claudia-schott.de/Playmobil-Lizenz/ANTEX/antex.htm)

Inside the new collector 3 you can see many Antex sets, if your read the info about antex looks like antex had realy the licence today.
At collector you can read this:

As an official Licensed producer of Playmobil toys Antex Andina S.A. an argetinian company
has been making all kinds of figure and accessories for the south american market since 1975.
In in the past the layout of the playmobil boxes were kept and only the antexlogo was added.
To avoid showing package here once again only the
new creations from antex are mentioned in this chapter of the book. some of them stands out because they are wild combinations of other different sets.

There is a big Antex collector here in germany i ask him and hope he can tell us some more.

world greets

Andi

hi richard and andi,
i know very little about antex and i am not a member of playclicks.  :-[
i guess the best way to know more is to wait for andi's friend info.  :yup:
i am thinking on buying (waiting fot the seller to lower his price) 2 other sets:
- the 1-3480 set de piratas
- the 1-9612 hombre con cofre (man with trunk)
i will let you know more about antex's quality when i buy them (this can take some time though)...
