First attempt @ picture insertion.

Bill there is a way of using an alternative hosting site to get your pictures fullsize and not a thumbnail attachment. I use Imageshack and it is free. You register at the site ( which ever you choose ) #1 choose file, #2 host your picture . #3 retrieve the data link for forums, #4 copy & paste the link into your "Post Reply" or "New Tread" text box
I delet the part of the address that links to my images at Image shack
I am sure we would all love to see your pictures in a glorious fashion :o
-
it would be like this or larger . I resize it at the time of hosting to a 15" screen size
(http://img152.imageshack.us/img152/3231/5719rd3.jpg)
It works a lot better for photo stories
I got overwhelmed with how to do it so at first but now it is easy .

Still working on it! This is the picture of my custom Playmobil ambulance defibrillator in use. Rasputin, I am having some difficulty using the Imageshack method as you described :-[. But I must say, I am impressed with the clarity of your photo!
-
That's pretty good!

Thank you Gepetto! It's good to be back again! I missed talking to you, & everyone else here ;D!
-
Your pictures are looking good . The one advantage to using the off site is you do not need to lower the resolution .
What part of the process are you having trouble with ?

I registered, uploaded a picture on to the site, & can see it on my page, but now I'm having difficulty with the next steps you described.

Preview of accessory outfitted Playmobil City Fire Department fire battling ship with a distinguished observer on board :camera:! I hope I have done his avatar justice :-[! I felt I needed to protect him with a life jacket instead of his usual vest....because of high seas, & all ;)!
-
Hi Bill,
I think you've got there! I'd be interested to see more of the defibrillator you've made. I've just been making a few changes to my ambulance and helicopter as regards equipment (I don't think I've posted them yet ???), so it would be good to see what others are thinking. Nice touch to use a bare-legged klicky for you patient.
It is a great honour to be your guest on the fireboat.

Ok now when you get on your site go to "My Images" It should take you to a page with small pictures of all the images you uploaded . Next to each image is a vertical column of icons .a blue "i", a blue diamond, a orange "X", a green dot, two arrows in a circle, and a purple "G"
You will be using the blue "i" . click on it and a new smaller window will appear showing the image you selected with some address links . one list is "fullsize" and the other are "thumbnail size". the one you want is fullsize "forums"
it looks like this

By [U RL=http://p rofile.imageshack.us/user/koretsky]koretsky[/UR L] at 2008-10-16
i put some spaces in it so it would break the link and show the text
copy the link and past it in your Playmofriends posts
I delete the part that creates the link to my Imageshack site ( it is the part of the address that says "By [U RL=http://p rofile.imageshack.us/user/koretsky]koretsky[/UR L] at 2008-10-16 "

This isn't working :hissyfit:!!!!! Hey Rasputin, which source do you use to transfer the picture file, sites, friends, or direct? When I typed in the "http://" heading in the browser attachment here, it locks up my computer because it keeps searching, & nothing is found, so I'm still not doing something correctly >:(. I've done everything upto the file attachment procedure. Great instructions so far!
-
Ok when i go to http:// imageshack .us/ it takes me to a page with an add on the left and a yellow bar at the top . Next to the add there is some choices you can make .
upload . image . url . video . multipleloader . file exchange
a button that said "Choose File"
a box for Tags:
a selection for "resize image " I use 800x600(15-inch monitor)
a selection for "remove size/resolution bar from thumbnail?"
then "allowed: jpg jpeg png gif bmp tif tiff < 1.53 megabytes."
an "upgrade to 3.00 meg per image" link
then a box tat said " host it!"
#1- select image at the very top ( its in blue listed horizontally next to upload )
#2- click "chose file" find the file on your computer
#3- i select "resize image?" i use 800x600 (15 inch)
#4 - click "host it"
#5 - when it is done it will show you the uploaded image plus all the forum and thumbnail address's
#6 copy and past the "forums address" to the playmofriends post
do not get discouraged . i almost threw my computer out trying to figure some of these thing out ;D & we all want to see your pictures in all their glory & detail
-
Rasputin,
When you copy & paste the imageshack forum address, which address do you copy thumbnail for foums 1, or 2, & where do you attach it to? The attachments at the bottom of the post or insert image at the top? I can't get it to transfer from the imageshack forum to Playmofriends. It still is locking up my computer trying to find the link :hmm:.
-
i use the "fullsize" "forum" address
I ccopy and past it directly in the post . do not add it to any of the buttons above the yellow smiley faces when you are typing a post . Copy it directly in the text box , where you would type your responce .

Bill click on your pic and a new window pops up , right ?
the second address bar said "forum" ?
copy and past it in a " Post reply" in the same area you type your comments
looks great in higher resolution :)9
Train wreck right . I can see all the tinest details in the back :lens: :)9
-
Excellent Rasputin ;D! You were correct about throwing my computer out the window, but it was my fault for not being more technology educated :-[! Thank you very much for all of your help Rasputin, you rock :wow:! BTW you were correct about the train wreck. The new picture shows an overview.
Best Wishes,
Bill

I am just passing the knowledge around . Somebody somewhere helped me figure this out as well. I am glad it finally worked out and now we all get to see your pictures in higher resolution . I hope it will encourage you to put photo stories together as we all love a great Playmo adventure ;)

A very good friend from the Copt Hewick Volunteer Fire Brigade visiting, & photographing the new Playmobil City Fire Department fire battling ship. I think I'm finally getting the hang of this attaching pictures to a thread thing ;), thanks to Rasputin!

Those photos really are nice Bill! Thanks also to Rasputin, I am taking notes on your instructions and will give them a try here soon!

I am really impressed with the clarity! I got really frustrated, but it was worth it! If you need any assistance like I did, just let me know!

I used to take the pictures and have them low resolution thumbnails and did not have to worry about having nice pics. Now i have to be careful how i take the pictures, what's in the back ground, if everything is clean and dust free, etc ...... It makes you take better pictures and try harder with the set ups which is nice for every one enjoying the scene .
You can see in Bills last picture of Gordon how even a fingerprint would show up on the face protector ( but i see Gordon keeps himself tidy ) .
Martin had a very good point also about when you are reading a picture story it flows smother if you are not having to open pictures ( i myself am easily distracted , especially by shinny objects )

Very funny ;)! I must be doing things correctly, because if the pictures are hazy that's the background I'm looking for :woohoo:! I'm trying to make the atmosphere smokey like a real fire scene.
Although the smoke detectors are working fine in our house.........:hmm:!

Very nice Bill! I like the atmosphere that the smoke imparts and I like the look of the building too.

This is the break down of how to do the large photos in picture stories;
Go to an outside hosting source like imageshack.com
On this site it is free to become a member, & use the "basic" services.
After you have activated the membership on your chosen hosting site, go to the Playmofriends story telling forum, & click on start a new topic.
Go to where you will type the story after putting in the storys' title. You can type the story now, or later after posting your photos. Put the cursor in the position on the thread posting area where you want the photo to stay.
You then down size the Playmofriends screen, & go back onto the internet to the imageshack screen where it says image, & click on browse. NOTE, I put my pictures in folders in the "my document" program under a title that I can access after unloading my camera, & sort the desired pictures in their proper order to be put in the photo story before going on line.
You then access the desired folder containing the picture story photos, then you click on the photo you want to post in to the desired sequence. The file will appear in the "browse" section of the imageshack screen.
Next I go down to the resize area of the imageshack screen, I put a check mark in the resize box after I have chosen to resize the photo to (800 X 600 15" monitor). I then click on host it. It may take several moments for this procedure to take place. When the new screen comes up, it should have your desired photo, shown in a smaller frame at which time you click on your photo.
The screen will go to a larger picture of your desired photo with forum listings shown. You click on the "forum" button, & it should highlight to blue.
Next you go to the upper left corner of your computer monitor, & click on the "edit" program button.
Then you select "copy". You go to the bottom of your screen, & bring up the Playmofriends forum that you left downsized, & make sure that your cursor is where you left it. At this time you will select the edit program again, & click on "paste".
You will then see your photo file number appear in the thread area. Move your cursor to the next position you want the next picture to appear, & downsize the Playmofriends screen, & repeat all of the the processes until you are done. You can select "preview", & see how your pictures are looking in between uploads.
