On Friday I spent a while helping my daughters put together the large Supermarket #3200 (http://www.collectobil.com/catalogue/items/3200.htm) along with all the other sets we have from that theme, including the expansion set #7589 (http://www.ciao.de/Playmobil_Supermarkt_Erweiterung_7589__2435023).
We also set up a hair salon next door using #4413 (http://www.collectobil.com/catalogue/items/4413.htm) and the small City House #3959 (http://www.collectobil.com/catalogue/items/3959.htm).
As I was passing yesterday, I noticed that Dayna (8) had set up some really sweet little scenes with the shoppers and their children, so I snapped a few quick pics. :)

Some more...

And finally...

Lovely activity!
My favourite must be hungry boy, closely followed by the two children paying on the shopping trolley while their mother is distracted.
The licorice allsorts bottle look good - is that an original Playmo piece or a custom?
My only concern is the price of everything! :)
-
Your daughter has an excellent eye for detail and also demonstrates the creativity of Playmobil (and you've done a great with the photos too, Sylvia).
I shall now go back and have a closer look and take it all in picture by picture.
-
Thank you both for your comments! I will pass them on. :)

I was surprised that the little boy could hold so many boxes of biscuits! I'm told there's a bit of blu-tac helping to support them but it's very well hidden. ;D

Well spotted! That is a dollshouse miniature which I picked up at a local fair several years ago. Before the advent of the supermarket set and the other Playmobil shops, I was often looking for foodie-type items that were similar in scale to Playmobil. We also have some Sylvanian Families bits and pieces - bread loaves, cakes, bottles, etc - and the girls often mix these in with the Playmo accessories. They're slightly over-sized by comparison, but it doesn't seem to bother them. ;)
Btw, the girls are very keen to create a small "sweetie shop," so I'm thinking of ordering a pile of jars from the DS and creating labels with jelly beans and other kinds of candy treats. I've already ordered the Corner Store (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showinv.pl?setnum=7777) add-on as I think the shelving and counters will be perfect for this. 8-)
I would also have to work out a way of creating some chocolate bars. I guess the gold ingots (http://www.playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showpart.pl?partnum=30%2089%200430) would be a bit too large... perhaps bank notes (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showpart.pl?partnum=30-62-0210) painted silver with wrap around stickers would do the job? :)
My only concern is the price of everything! :)
Tonia (11) asked me to write that on the blackboard. ;D Incidentally, I'm glad I didn't have to write individual prices for everything. It's bl***y difficult to write anything on plastic with those white pencils supplied in the sets. 8}

As you can see, the long blue trolley from the greenhouse (http://www.collectobil.com/catalogue/items/4481.htm) is very useful for transporting the supplies from the van to the shop more quickly than the small wheeled trolley. :)

I love them, and my girls enjoyed seeing them too. Great details. I had to promise to set up the dollhouse again if they'd just not ask for a supermarket!
-
Lovely scenery
How nicely everything it set up ...

 Yes, that's a child's dream: receiving an ice cream with a very big ice cream scoop :yup:
-
Darn! I was just getting my want list to a controllable size and now I see how nice the supermarket set is!! :inlove: Guess that will be number 96 on the old list  I'll never get saved up for the Pirates in September or the church set next year.....what ever will I do? I may have to go back to work.
Very nice work girls, all of you deserve an ice cream for your efforts!!

Silver only? No plain chocolate then? ;D

Your daughters certainly have an eye for detail! I too liked he children playing on the cart while their mother was busy but all the scenes have real depth and balance, good job.

Thank you all for looking at the photos! The girls are glad you enjoyed them. :)
It would be great to have a room where we could set up everything permanently, but I fear that the supermarket will eventually have to go back in the cupboard again due to the lack of space in our living room. The kids bedrooms are also too small to allow enough play-space. *sigh*

lol
I know what you mean. I almost dare not show my daughters photos of other members' collections or the pics of new sets that are coming. They always see something else they'd like to have. 8}
Silver only? No plain chocolate then? ;D
That would be gold foil with a red wrapper, I assume? ;)
I'll add it to the list. :yup:
I think I'm going to have as much fun creating the sweet shop as they will have playing with it. ;D
edited spelling error (before Richard spots it! ;))

I've just had another look through the pictures and they get better every time. I noticed for the first time in the coffee shop photo the little boy with the copy of the Playmobil history of the world book (I think that's the one) and the suntanned family in the checkout picture. Where do they come from, please?

That comes with the supermarket. Part number 30 89 9120 (http://www.playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showpart.pl?partnum=30%2089%209120)
It does look a bit similar to Richard Unglik's book (http://www.elbauldeluces.com/datoslibros.php?cod=1059). Hadn't noticed that before.
But I think this mini version is something different as it has the word "SPACE" on the front cover.

The little girl is from the Family Yacht set: 30 11 1210 (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showpart.pl?partnum=30-11-1210)
Her mum is originally from an Airport set but she's had her hair 're-styled': 30 14 3060 (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showpart.pl?partnum=30-14-3060) :)

I love displays in general and this one is great!
This is really the way I like it best: there is something happening everywhere and everyone is doing

Sounds as if your DS order is going to be rather large, Playmofire

It usually is! ;D It also is usually delivered by the same Parcel Force driver so we always have a chat as the regular Playmobil boxes intrigues him. He seems to be a bus fan and his latest buy is a large scale Routemaster London bus. A few weeks after placing I always keep an eye open at breakfast time for the red Parcel Force van coming along the road to the village.

Wow! Looks like a real grocery store!
The man at the beauty parlor has a lot of guts.
My wife conned me into going to one in China, and after the concluding shoulder massage, in which the male masseur's, er, member kept poking me in the back, I vowed never to return!
My wife says that couldn't possibly have happened.

;D
Hmmm.... that story has given me an idea. ;)
We could build on an extra room for the salon with massage beds and masseurs!
I doubt that Playmobil would bring out an add-on set like this but it could easily be created with existing parts. The bed (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showpart.pl?partnum=30%2004%205060) from the operating theatre without the blanket would probably do the job.

I'll bet Andi would love to stock your "sweetie shop" with some of his wonderful creations ... :yup:
Great display, Sylvia! You guys really have some very nice toys!
All the best,

I thought that you were going to say, "We could build on an extra room on our house." ...

I have just won a partially complete set from Ebay of the supermarket, and the seller threw in the checkout set as well. I'm a bit wary cause a) they say bits of it are glued together and, b) where every other photo shows recessed shelves full of stock the seler's photo show what looks like plastic sheets showing pictures of stock. Oh well, the mystery will be solved by the weekend. It cost me £28 inc postage so seemed a bargain.
Sorry, back to the plot. This thread is quite old but I was very excited to see some shots of this set. The kids' imagination is amazing!

Things got a little more surreal in the supermarket later on. ;D The results are here:

These are great Sylvia :wow:
In the originals I smiled at the little girl at the checkout with the icecream - did you bribe your children to behave at the supermarket too!
I really love the animal photos though, and the comments ! ;D

i love the vignettes, i think my favorite is the little boy with the mountain of cookie boxes in his arms, and buying the ice cream although i love how they are climbing on the cart to get at those cookie boxes. so much detail.

That girl! She has been warned about spending so much time daydreaming. ::) Someone at the supermarket has probably caught her eye. ;)

Hi
When I saw these great set ups I thought the lady was turned to the camera but it was a joke that she had too much hair, like some kind of cousin It
Thanks for sharing your kids beautiful set ups
