Title: 5833 Speedboat with underwater motor
Post by: Tiermann on February 04, 2008, 00:50:26
This is the other set I found today at the same place - it just has the 5000 series number so may just be a North American set.

The klicky is nice too, and I really like the boat color better than the orange version of this boat model that was out previously.

Nice review, Tim, and nice product.  Thanks for posting it.

Is the new style lifejacket moulded on like the new style police collars and epaulets?

Hi Tim,

are there a option to use 3 underwater motors looks like the german 3399 one ?

I saw a runner at you pic.

Can you make a picture from the underside or are at the box a pic with 3 motors ?

Look at the pictures !

No Gordon, it's a separate piece, but would require disassembly of the klicky to remove it.

Yes Andi, the bottom is the same mold so it is possible to use the three motors. There's nothing on the instructions to indicate that, something they might have considered to encourage further sales. I agree about the graphic, the shark is great - and I really like the color scheme. One minor flaw was on one side the number 24 had a little minor smudging of paint.

Thanks Tiermann for the review . I have the orange one and do like the matching truck that came with it. This would be a great boat to have a race with. I have never heard of the store you mentioned and do hope they make their way around to California . My boys fight over who get the super fast speed boat . Gee i wonder who will win the race . The 3 motored race boat or the Zodiac or the single motor green racer ?

Thanks, for a great review, Tim ...

When I first saw your super photos, I was hoping that it mght be an RC boat from Playmobil.

I wonder if they're ever going to make one?

All the best and thanks again,
Richard

We all know that toy RC boats, from other manufacturers, have been available in the toy stores for a long, long time. I can't understand why Playmobil can't make one.

Did Mr. Hane say what kind of "problems" they were having?

Andi, do you know of anyone who has made a customized Playmobil RC boat?

All the best,
Richard

Hi Richard,
I made a couple of Playmobil RC boats some time ago.
One was a two masted square rigger, the other was a
Asian sampan/junk.  Both sailed well.  I posted the
square rigger in Customs , I believe, but can,t remember
if I posted the sampan.

Best regards,
Jimbo

Hello, Jim ...

All I could find was THIS (http://www.playmofriends.com/forum/index.php?topic=1240.0) ...

Is this the one you used for RC?

Hi Richard,
That's not the one.  That one is still in dry dock.  I found the "R.C. Square rigger"
on page 10 of the customs gallery, at the bottom of the page. I did not know how to transfer it to this thread.
The square rigger has been sold, but I still have the sampan.

Best regards,
Jimbo

Thanks, Jimbo ...

Can you tell us what you did to set it up for RC control?

Hello Richard and all.
Making that RC was easy.  I used Knightmo's RC car radio, and ran a
single servo to the ships rudder, which was made slightly oversized.
As far as room for the reciever, batteries and servo..no problem.
Ship is about 4 feet long and at least a foot wide.
I kinda built the ship around the radio. :yup:

Best regards,
Jimbo

Hi Richard,

ok i start a RC ship collection here:

http://www.playmofriends.com/forum/index.php?topic=1986.msg21545#msg21545 (http://www.playmofriends.com/forum/index.php?topic=1986.msg21545#msg21545)

I dont know the problems but i think there comes water inside the rc module.
But you must change the batteries. The module are allways in the water.
If you look at the actual underwater motor, after a longer time there comes water inside !
The Problem was the axis with the propeller here comes water inside.

but i hope for this rc ship module to have a super summer fun !!

world greets

Andi

Nice review Tierman. Thanks!

BTW - the label with "Free" written on it has also included the remark "Gratis".
This is Dutch which might imply that the set is also going the be released in the Netherlands and/or Belgium ...

It may be for the full international market, the instructions have the warnings in about 10 languages the same as sets from the regular line. There is also a 5835 out there - a dolphin training set available at Toys R Us, but not mine yet.
