Title: 4678 Musketeer En Garde!
Post by: Martin Milner on February 02, 2008, 09:08:55
There's a second Musketeer figure (Special 4678) due for release (in the UK) in July this year, who will go nicely with the 4627 Musketeer. 4678 being the Cardibal's man, and 4627 the King's man. Neither Musketeer actually has a musket btw.

Does anybody think this might indicate a Musketeer theme in the next few years?

If so, what other figures/sets would you like to see included?

Actually this is the 4th Musketeer (all without muskets)
4551 - Musketier (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showinv.pl?setnum=4551)
4565 - Cavalier (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showinv.pl?setnum=4565)
4627 - Musketeer (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showinv.pl?setnum=4627)
and then this new one.

I still haven't managed to get a 4551 to add to my collection but I have the other two.
I have some trade stuff if anyone has an extra 4551 laying around, it can be out of box but I would want complete.

I plan to buy the new purple musketeer and I also currently have the red musketeer, the cavalier, and the three musketeer add ons.  I don't, however, have the red and blue musketeer and am desperately looking for one.

It would be nice to see a musketeer line, and it's possible it may happen, although doubtful.  One can use the castle and pirate sets along with them.

Goodness, I hadn't seen all those, due to my years in the Playmobil wilderness.

So if there have now been 4 Specials devoted to this one idea, is a Musketeer theme in the offing, or is it just Playmo being a bit lazy and reproducing the same figure with different colours & printing?

Do the Musketeers fit in with the pirates?

I think many of the pirate items and even the fairy tale castle items work with the musketeers.  Obviously the cannon, weapons, and certain klickies are keeping with the period.

En Garde, is it? ... ;)

Martin, if you are really interested in the Playmobil Musketeers of the Thirty Years War, then click HERE (http://gardenwargaming.playclicks.com/forum/index.php?topic=465.0) for twenty-one fantastic sets created by Zirndorf's Playmobil artist Ralf Gemein (http://www.ralfgemein.de/seiten/johndoe.htm)!

I have attached the pictures of Playmobil's original two Musketeer sets and the first of Ralf's twenty-one sets.

Thought I'd tease you with one more, Martin ... ;)

I think Ralf's work is fantastic, and I really enjoy seeing custom figures made using all original parts, so I can build them myself.

It shows how really useful the pirate and viking figures are for customising, plus some of the earlier knight theme civilians.

Most of Ralf's 30 Years War men could also appear as English Civil War themed. I'm pretty sure I've seen those too somewhere.

Lace collars, wide-brim hats with feathers, and loads of weapons strapped on...excellent!

Hello, Gepetto ...

Sylvia registered you at GW-PC on 7 January. You should have received a temporary password by email.

Please send Sylvia an email or PM to find out what she used for your temporary password.

I will also send Sylvia an email.

You should be able to see all of Ralf's great customs soon ... :)

All the best,
Richard

Thank you Richard,

Sylvia did jog my memory and I got in fine.  I was just over at Ridge Road and they already have the Dinosaur sets in stock. Their release dates for some of the new figures are:

 March

4670 - Crusader
4672 - Archer

September

4675 - Fireman
4677 - Barbarian Chieftan
4678 - Musketeer
4679 - Santa
4680 - Child with Snowman

No mention of the Gauls and Richard is right, already I am having difficulty finding that Farmhouse (I need to become more familiar with set numbers). Why is it that the prices on some of these items seem too high until they are discontinued at which point we are grateful to get them at (almost) any price?

P.S.  Am I posting in the right place? I am not quite sure how to follow these threads.

Yeah, there seems to be a disconnect somewhere.

I think Valkyrie might be right with her theory that Playmobil does its research at Blockbuster Video.

Some book I read on the emergence of gunpowder in warfare devoted a few paragraphs to musketeers.  They were better paid than regular troops and tended to be big guys, because the musket in those days was heavy and hard to fire.

I wish Ralf could get a job at Playmobil.
But, I get the weird feeling that they'd murder him Julius Caesar like.

Don't worry Gepetto, the threads often wander off-topic, just like a normal conversation.

If it goes too far off-topic, the moderators can split the thread and create a new one, to make things easier to follow.

Hello, Timmy und Martin ...

I wish Ralf could get a job at Playmobil.
But, I get the weird feeling that they'd murder him Julius Caesar like.

Zirndorf is well aware of Ralf Gemein and knows his work quite well! Especially since some of his art adorns their walls. It is anyone's guess what will happen in the future. But, as you have suggested, Ralf's genius certainly has the possibility of threating some of the residents of Klicky Towers! ... ;)

Timmy, I really love your sense of humour and your Deutsch ...

That's the truth, Martin! ... ;)

The only problem that I ever have is finding the other half of a "split" thread ...

All the best,
Richard
