Dear friends! I like to share some older pictures of my zoo diorama. I was able to build this on the attic of the apartment where I lived until late 2016. Unfortunately my current Playmobil room is much smaller. I'm glad I found the pictures, because I thought I lost them (and copying them from the PCC is no longer possible). Enjoy:

1. The entrance building. This is actually a picture from the first version of my zoo, but the building remained in the second version.

Great display, bml87! I love the lighthouse in Neptune's kingdom. And the playful lion cubs. Is the sixth leopard the black (melanistic) one?
That older zoo (3634) works really well, with its high level viewing platform.
Lucky you found these pictures, it would take ages to set it all up again, even if you had the space!

I enjoyed looking at your pictures here as much as I enjoyed them on the PCC! I’m glad that you were able to find (and share) them again

A superb diorama and photos; thank you for sharing them.
Excellent viewpoints, framing and detailing in the photos, and nice titling of them too, adding to what you see in the photo itself. I'm sure the mother gorilla is indeed a good mother.
Unfinished or not, the picture of the polar bears in their shelter in a favourite for me with its light and shade, the contrast between the blue of the water and the white of the shelter and the way the black of the eyes and noses of the polar bears seizes our attention in the picture.
Nice detail points as well with the birthday party and other groups of people.
And who is Timon, please? I can only think of Timon of Athens by William Shakespeare.

Thanks GrahamB! The 6th one is the melanistic one indeed.
It’s amazing how many 3634’s that are still on sale (second hand of course) nowadays. I have 3 at the moment, but to complete my zoo idea I actually need one more. Something for later...
I’m really glad I had saved them on my external hard disk together with some other pictures, which I will upload later ;) .

Thanks leefert! The Roncalli circus is my next (animal-linked) diorama and after that I’m planning to create a forest / Alpine diorama.

Thank you playmofire!
A little background story about my polar bears; I bought them second hand in set 3184 at the end of 2015. At that moment it was about 10 years ago since Playmobil released polar bears, so I was really happy I could buy them from someone who lived nearly 2 km from me. I really started the think that Playmobil was not planning to release new polar bears very soon... couple of months later it was released that they would release a new version again! Amazing! But, although the new version is a very nice mold, the best ice rocks came with the theme that included set 3184.
And this Timon of course ;) :

Thank you, bml87, for the story about your polar bears. I agree with you - the style you have are much better than the present ones; they have that simplicity of design that the classic figures have, just enough detail and not too much.
-
Great pics - thank you for sharing them here :)
I also think the captions are great.
And the use of all the non-zoo/non-modern parts is great.
Love the playful lion cubs
That old zoo is really amazing - it was my first "big" set.. I too have some more, not sure if complete, but it doesn't really matter - steck is steck! Not after more roofs, but if I cross the walls or the stairs at a nice price, they're mine! ;D

Thank you tahra! ;D
I really had much more ideas, but as I said; I had to move. There was going to be a complete Western section of the zoo with the brown bears as well and other American animals. I hope to realise that dream once!
Well, in Belgium you still see them popping up for nice prices. 25-30 euros, which is fair in my opinion.

Hope you manage to create an improved and expanded version...

EEEK. That's too much for me... I only had my original one untill recently... then found 2 lots on ebay from the same seller, several zoo parts, and those stairs on each one. Since I liked the parts anyways, I got both. And found one with a GREAT BIN price while I was "seeing other auctions" (buy MORE! save on shipping!) of something else I purchased...

It's a wonderful zoo. Some great areas there with lots of nice details. Thanks for posting them here for us to see

Well, in case I didn’t express myself well, I meant 25-30 euros for the complete set (not only the building). Unfortunately most Belgian people don’t sell their Playmobil on eBay, more on the local second hand website “2dehands.be” or Facebook groups and when I see the international shipping costs (to Belgium) on eBay, I sometimes can’t believe my eyes how expensive they can be..

Thanks Tim! Did you ever think of building a zoo diorama? Shouldn’t be a problem with your animal collection ;) !
