Hello :sherlock: can u help me I haw this red lantern
No clue where it Come from ??? Set No. :lens:
-
Possibly from one of the US train sets.
-
Or maybe from an advent calendar?
-
Hmmm, this is a difficult one. I' m pretty sure I have one of those in red, but where did it come from...?
I'll let you know if it pops up in my head ;)
-
The last one responding will have the answer ;D
(the one at the end of a game is called "the red lantern carrier overhere)
-
It isn't from a Special, or a Game set, or an advent calendar....

The seller describes this as rare and Middle Ages!

I believe it used to be a chromed one
I have somewhere one that looks the same with leftover of chrome
So my guess , old medieval

I really don't think so... I think it is too "bright" to be an old one... The old chrome ones always leave dullish colors - weird greenish/blueish... yellowish, whiteish or pinkish.. or that reddish-brown of that helmet once! At least mine always have been that way.
Today I remembered to check - I have one of those as well. ???

I am with macguyver on this one. Having searched through all the sets on Klickywelt's Datenbank-Setinhalt, I couldn't find a red lantern. But several of these early sets have the chrome lanterns. So I checked my spares and found two with worn chrome, one with white plastic underneath and one with red:

For some reason, quite a lot of early chrome parts have a red plastic base. Sometimes the chrome wears off completely. Maybe there were red lanterns, but I think it looks likely that they were formerly chromed. Any traces of chrome anywhere on your red lanterns pingo or tahra?
-
Nope, mine is NOT an old one. Brand new. AND the red is very different....
My sister adds camping, or maybe a train to the possibilities... or a western wagon.

As I said, I think it is train related. I shall check my train catalogues and get back.

Well, here's the answer - there is a red lantern with the Colorado Springs station, but not the mystery one.
-
Figured it out with the help of a fellow german collector
The lantern comes with the orange Safari Zelt from the 80 ties
-
This (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showinv.pl?setnum=3413) one? It looks like a chrome one in the box picture (and on Klickywelt.de Datenbank-Setinhalt)!
-
I really think th red one is a LOT more recent than that....
-
I´m pretty sure it is not a peeled-off chrome lantern.
Over the years, I´ve seen it several times appear on ebay (never got it though as I´m not really interested in it).
Maybe it originates from a Chrismas Calender set? ???
-
It's from the large Safari-set, 3189.
-
Thank you. This was starting to drive me nuts!
(found through google - then led here (link) (http://www.famobil.ekiwi.es/web%20famobil.htm))

Yes, thank you, Eric.
-
Macgayver was on the right track with it. Awesome work by all involved.

It isn't shown in the 3189 set on Datenbank-Setinhalt (neither in the set contents nor on the original box art); that could be an error on the part of the person (playmorache) who supplied the pictures there, but such an omission would be unusual. If it is a Famobil part, that would fit in with other parts produced for/by Famobil, Shaper, Lyra, Antex, Playpeople, etc. where the part differs from 'standard' Playmobil parts/ klickies from the same era.
