I have a feeling this might belong to a boat or a house, but not sure nor have I got it to fit into any of the sets I've built yet.
-
I don't know which set it's from, but pretty sure it's a roof rack for a car. Here's a black version from Playmodb: part 30 25 0413 (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showpart.pl?partnum=30-25-0413)

I've got one of those red things! I haven't found out what it is yet. :(
I thought roof-rack, but I haven't found what set its from...
-
Could it belong to a surfboard?
-
It looks familiar, I wondered if it was some sort of window but can't find it.

No, carefully compare both pictures.

You're so right, Marco! The two parts are similar but the differences are apparent after a closer look. the mystery continues . . . :)

Where is Heather when you need her? She could have this resolved
-
Could it be the base of a bed? I feel those legs are very delicate... if not, I feel it could work as the base for a bed!

Maybe true: searching all parts in the DB by colour=red might track this piece down (it would be a big job!) something we users don't have the option to do. I tried several key words when I first got this part, things like 'rack' 'grid' 'holder', all to no avail.
However, there are thousands of parts not in PlaymoDB, waiting for us collectors and enthusiasts to track them down, describe and photograph them. And there are plenty which Heather has included, but the colour is unknown. I suspect this part may not be in the DB, coming from a pre-2000 set, so searching box pictures might be the best way of finding it.

Could it be a bed frame or even a window insert?

Its is most possibly a frame of some sort, but I believe its too small for a bed.
Height 1 cm
Width 4,5 cm
Lenght 6,5 cm
It has Christmas red color, and yes the "legs" are quite delicate and designed look to them. Is it possible they could belong to the rosa victorian series?

Found it!
It is a roof-rack, for a windsurf board, from set 3584 (which you have in your collection, JensL!). It isn't in the PlaymoDB, but it is shown at Datenbank-Setinhalt on klickywelt.de ( here (http://www.klickywelt.de/viewtopic.php?f=71&t=48354&p=629884#p629884) if you have membership of the site). Also found a picture here (https://www.europeana.eu/api/v2/thumbnail-by-url.json?size=w400&uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.collectiedeventermusea.nl%2Fwwwwopacx%2Fwwwopac.ashx%3Fcommand%3Dgetcontent%26server%3Dimages%26value%3DSpeelgoed%255CS2003-525.jpg&type=IMAGE) and another one here (http://cloud10.todocoleccion.online/playmobil/tc/2009/12/09/16308418.jpg) thanks to Google images.
I haven't got the rest of this set :(

Thank you! Now that you said it out loud I remember that too :)
I have to try it on some of the cars when I get home with the windsurf.

I didn't know it either... very satisfying to see a mystery piece identified 8-) Thanks Graham!
