Looks fake to me.

Looking at the accesoires gives it away considering that the skateboard marty holds can't be used to stand on, willy wonka's staff would not fit properly in the hand and they wouldnt make the hat stand like that.

Also most of the media used for this is stuff playmobil would not want to associate the brand with since its unsuitable for children.

Unless they want to go a step beyond super 4 and ruin their brandname further with cheap knock offs produced by themselves.

Exactly!

I was thinking fake too... Or a blatant shameless copy.

I dearly hope it's just a hoax...I can never believe Playmobil would let them bring out a "zombie with a screwdriver in his eye" figure...   :-\

Based on the number of licenses they would have to pay for, I seriously doubt this to be true

Title: Re: Funko?

Could  it be possible they are knock off and they are real? That would be lame in my opinion and if so geobra should legally intervene... Unless they infact want it  ???

As soon as some one finds out at the pcc please share info  :wow:
Title: Re: Funko?
Post by: Baron Marshall on January 12, 2016, 20:06:21
It is possible that Funko is subcontracting playmobil to make these figures to sell under the funko brand as they do all kind of licensed toys. If so, we won't find out from the pcc until after it is officially announced by their corporate partner. ... dollars and cents speaking, this would be a good way for playmobil to get into licenses... funko bears the entire expense and playmobil gets paid upfront for the product. Not saying they are real... but it is possible.

Post by: Redmao on January 12, 2016, 20:39:40
Funko is probably paying a license fee to Playmobil for the style and construction of the figures.

Rumor has it that they'll be 6" tall which will make them pretty useless.
What's the point of having famous characters in klicky form if they can't interact with actual Playmobil sets and figures?

Doctor Who has also been rumored to be part of that line. It would have been nice to have the Doctor travel throughout the various Playmo themes, but not if he's twice the size... 8}

6 inches would be great for a giant  :)
Title: Re: Funko?
Post by: Scribbler on January 12, 2016, 22:15:33
My issue is that only 2 turtles are portrayed. There are four - it is uncalled for to only make 2 and not the other 2! :) (Referring to the TMNT ones).

IF they did do those, and keep it at 2.5 inches, bend at the waist, I might get the Willy Wonka and the turtles ones (Oompa Loompa should have had the same build as a dwarf/child klicky... he looks like a giant when standing by Willy Wonka).

Sigh...

I can see Funko licensing the look. They've been doing that... buying up smaller, designer lines, then footing the bill to pay for the licenses, and then making a ton of money. This fits their MO.

This is not in line with playmobil's traditional "no licensee" stance... but they've already broken that rule with the NHL and Porsche.  I can see them doing this, I'm a little disappointed.

Honestly, I'd love it to be a hoax, but there was too much effort put into this for a typical hoaxer.

I was planning on sitting out Toy Fair this year, but maybe I need to go to get to the root of this. From the source.

Although I hate the idea... I'd probably still buy them (except the Walking Dead ones) because it is Playmobil.

I'd buy them, but only if they were the normal size.

That's where I am with it... It would be cool to have the TMNT (all of them) in my collection.

My hunch is they are fake, why would Funko have Playmobil figures with licenses that Playmobil doesn't even have or wouldn't be interested in like the Walking Dead and Fallout.

Perhaps they could market these ranges at teens and adults who like the themes under their own label. I watch Walking Dead and Supernatural and like the figures represented. I like the Wonka ones too though the oompaloompa should be a child-klicky.
They could be fake or they could be a design proof.

They already denied on Facebook that they are in partnership with Funko "Playmobil Hello David, at the moment there's no cooperation and the figures shown on the picture are not confirmed. Thanks for your feedback. Best wishes, your PLAYMOBIL-team smile emoticon"

I feel quite confident these are real, and it's simply a matter of scale/material/articulation.

I would not be surprised if they are larger, vinyl, and/or statue-like.  Because Lego, Mega Bloks and McFarlane have licensed several of these properties, they may have exclusive right to the scale or style of toys that would normally be produced by Playmobil.

I was pretty excited to see them, yet I do share some disappointment over Playmobil jumping into the realm of licensed characters.

Post by: Rasputin on January 28, 2016, 22:09:00
it would be great if they were the same scale so we could use them in our dio's as long as they were not counterfeit (without the foot stamp) but would totally understand from geobras perspective if they felt is was a problem. I vote 3"  with a Chinese foot stamp

WT* is this??!! Ugly 6 inch tall figures with somewhat of a Playmolike-look!!
And it is aimed at collectors?!
If they want to please their collectors, Geobra should better release collector-items like a big trimaster ship, or a decent mansion again, we don´t need a dwarf-sized Super-4 pirates´house or the recent half-buildings from the regular line ...  >:(

Hopefully Geobra takes notice on the adult toy collector aspect of driving a brands stock price up

“Funko will report its results for the fourth quarter February 28. Analysts expect sales to have risen nearly 20% from a year ago and for earnings per share to have more than doubled.”

The adult collector market that Funko and now PM is tapping into is not mild hobbyists like us, it's wealthy yuppies indulging their nostalgia. There's big dollars in issuing Ghostbluster or Brack to the Future sets; there's no comparable money in reissuing or refreshing the Victorian theme.
