Hello from Ohio in the US. I'm a new Playmofriends member, & a new collector & reveler in Playmobil. I turn 54 next week & am happy at this age to be finally playing with toys! I'm a medieval historian, & became attracted to Playmobil Knights in May when I discovered the Green Lion Knight with Fighting Dummy Special Plus; it reminded me so much of what I've seen during my many years as a medieval re-enactor that I was charmed & had to have it. I was instantly hooked!
I should explain that I am disabled due to a multitude of illnesses, & I'm retired & live off of SSDisability. I've nearly died twice in the past 5 years & am battling pain & anxiety. I spend many hours alone at home, reading, listening to Jazz, & working on the computer (I don't watch TV). Going out is expensive & often difficult, but I've adjusted to being at home.
Playmobil is now a HUGE HELP in dealing with boredom & depression. Buying pieces means I get out of the house more often; I take Playmobil "selfies" (see photo) now when I travel, & that's a lighthearted & enjoyable activity for me (I need things that make me smile), & helps fill up the hours of a day. Ditto with arranging my figures, creating scenes, photographing, etc. It's all wonderful therapy for me.
I have a YouTube site for my slideshows of Playmobil:

I'm also a member of the PCC. I look forward to interacting with many of you on these sites!

Hi Jim! A warm welcome to our board from Tennessee!

Welcome! There are many reasons for collecting Playmobil, but the therapeutic value is certainly present for many of us. Perhaps it's those smiles the little guys (and gals) wear? Perhaps it's the bright colours and enormous variety of figures, accessories, themes, etc. Perhaps it's the childhood memories PM evokes for some people (not all, I came to collecting PM as an adult too).
And PF is a very friendly forum with a real international clientele, so welcome one more new member!

Hi Jim, welcome to the forum :)
I recognise a lot of what you say about the enjoyability of Playmobil collecting (& messing around with it). It was very liberating when I realized there's this creative thing I can do that takes all the stress away, and puts a smile on my face every time.
And the best part is that there's so many other people out there who enjoy it too 8-)
I'll check out your YouTube site shortly and I hope you share some of your photos here as well.

Welcome from Amsterdam, The Netherlands! I'm sorry for your illness, glad the Playmobil brings you new joy. I've just watched your video of the Two Alchemists on the PCC website and I think it's amazing! (Where did you get that music from?) I love the Medieval theme too, and the ancient and exotic warriors. Also love fantasy, all those themes combined you can find in my comic "The Story of Randolph", to be read on this board (see the link in my signature).
