Hi all,
I've finally completed my "friend" that I was making in the friendship photo.
Blackhawk of the Blackhawk squadron. A comic book hero who was in charge of an independent fighter squadron during WWII, made up of pilots from various countries.
He didn't actually fly a Warhawk/Tomahawk, but I(and dad) found a G.I.Joe toy and modified it to suit this character. Also, The name of the plane fits very well. I have a reference photo somewhere, and I'll post it later if ya' like. His outfit changed a little as the comic went on, but this version is pretty true to his likeness, I think.

Very nice! This plane seems accurate enough and the right scale to go with Playmobil-klickies! 8-)
Personally, I'd like to find a modern fighterjet-model (F-15, F-16, F/A-18, F/A-22, F-35, Rafale, EF-Typhoon, ...) that goes as well with Playmo like this WWII-fighter... ???

Great work there. Well done!

Hi. thanks.
Here's a pic of Blackhawk for reference. He's also been drawn with a plain white undershirt which is the major difference. His logo has changed many times also.
I'm not sure if they are available in your area or not, Hadoque, but in the US there are a couple playmobil scale modern jets. One is an F-18. I can't remember the other. They are part of a line of toys that's intended to be an inexpensive version of the G.I.Joes. I'll see if I can get pics. These are "squatty body" like the Warhawk.

Very well done! I especially like the figure you made, the collar and the front of the jacket. Do you have some further information about the collar. Looks pretty perfect.
-
Little Jo,
The collar is taken from a fireman vest. The same kind as the PlaymoFriend gift klickies wear. I sanded the front a little bit. I didn't expect it to look right from the back since I had to tilt it forward a bit to get it flush with the chest, but, somehow it turned out okay.
:)

That's a great figure. I really like the snappy looking uniform, great logo graphic too
Thanks for posting him

Here it is.
From a brand called Elite Operations.
I haven't actually checked for size, but the cockpit looks like it may suit a klicky.
A brand called The Corps! may also have a fighter.
-
WOW! :wow:
I love his uniform. It looks just like the one on the comic book! 8-)
Did you also modify the steering in the plane, or was it just luck that the klicky is able to grip onto it?
Very neat custom!

Thanks :)
The planes interior was just an empty box. My dad made the interior structure--he used a playmobil train part for the control stick--and I made the gauges on the computer, printed them and glued them inside. The gauges are pretty close to the actual layout of a Warhawk.
--Also, if anyones wondering, the plane is from the Sgt. Savage line of the 3 3/4" GIJoes.
>:(Arrgh! I just found out the site I got the panel layout from labeled the image wrong. The gauges are wrong. oh well...good enough.

Thanks for the info about that F-18, Knightmo! :) It looks very nice and detailed, I haven't seen such a model overhere... If the scale is right, it would be perfect, I'll check what I can find about it.
-
Anyway, I love the character and love the plane even more !!!
Did you have to do lot of customizing - or did the plane more or less come like that? It looks awesome! (Just like the pilot )

The plane pretty much came like that. The biggest thing that needed changed other than the empty cockpit, was I had to sand off the GIJoe logo on both wings. I would have removed the gattling gun but that would have been to much of a chore. Also, there was a bit of a science fiction element in the comic, so it fits.
-
I think that the look and feel of the plane matches the pilot fantastically.
If no one had told me, I could have believed that they meant to go together all along.

That is a very cool custom - both the pilot and the plane!
I have an older P40 Warhawk that I use with the small GI Joes, made by a Chinese company called Chap Mei. I will have to dig it out, but at first glance it looks very similar to the one you used.
Good job!
