I ordered the 6003 dragon and the 6005 hay cart from the new medieval line. Here's a review of these two gems :)
The 6003 dragon was €24,99 at playmobil.be. I really like her: she looks fierce, her colours are great, and her wings can move 360° 'round. She's got horns and moving front paws with claws, a moving tail...
I have to admit I never bought a dragon before, so I have no comparison at home. But somehow she's more appealing to me than the other dragons I've seen out there.
No weird round eyes, no missing limbs, no armour.
This is the box. As I suspected, the blue is darker around the edges of the box, for the new medieval range:

The side has these two extra pictures:

I love how the new castle is built on a rock that can house a whole dragon. But I've got an old steck dragon tower now, so no system-X castle for me :)

And the back:

My dragon is called Debby. She's a good little dragon, but she's a bit camera shy:

Her front paws can tilt up and down, but that's it, no thumbs to grab things with.

Her hind legs are squatted, which is pretty cool, because she can be in a sort of crawling position. I don't really know why they decided her tongue should be a flame inside her mouth. It would have been nice to have a removeable flame attached to her mouth. Woosh!
She's very detailed. She's even got a little horn underneath her chin :)
And there's a tiny newborn baby dragon and a golden egg to fit it in. Cute ;D

The knight is 'bleh', a bit too comic bookish to my taste, but look at his funny helmet!

And maybe his clothes and shoes have potential, once I've freed him of is armour pieces.

And these bones also came with the set. Don't blame a hungry dragon...

The other set I got was the 6005 hay cart, for €17,99. It's brilliant, really. I have the same cart in light brown, from older sets, but the dark variety looks amazing. The hay looks quite realistic on the cart.

And the back:

No changes to the bull or the cart mold:

Though they did add two light brown clipping things to fasten to the sides of the cart. That way, it can hold the scythe and the rake.

The water in the bucket! Is this new, or have I missed it in other sets? I love it!!

I'm sure the pile of hay will come in handy...

Again, the soldiers aren't to my taste:

The black cloak looks nice, though. But I'm not sure what the device holding it is supposed to be :eh?:

Great looking farmer clicky:

I think I like him better without the beard:

That was it for the reviews. Let's all celebrate and buy these sets, shall we? ;D
-
Thanks for the review :)
I think mine have arrived today! :woohoo:
The water was first included in the fairy bags, I think...
I plan to "fix" all the knights (no, not THAT way! :0 )
-
Beaten me to the dragon review, mine isnt nearly as elaborate though. I'll still include the pics since I reviewed it along with some other sets. :)
I was kind of considering getting the hay cart, but too much cons for me to get it. The farmer and the hay is nice.. the ox too but I already have two of those carts and the soldiers look awfull.
Especially those weird colored parts of armor on the blonde soldier. Ugh.
A shame the hay top and bottom seem to be two different colors though. :( That does not help win me over.. still.. having a hay bale like that can have many uses. People hiding in hay and all that.

Well, I dislike that particular armor, but his HAIR is worse! :P
Actually, I wish the set did NOT have the soldiers... I think mine will pop!
(sets did arrive! Love the dragon, and the trolls  )

Oh sorry, I had no idea  Please do post your pictures, it's always fun to read reviews.

Hmm now you mention it, there seems to be a difference in colour, on the pictures. It's not very noticeable to the eye though. Could it be lighting or just the thickness of the plastic or something?

The 6005 is Playmobil going back to what it used to be - clever with great attention to detail and unusual, three qualities Playmobil has tended to be losing recently, in my opinion anyway. The idea of an oxcart is great for the mediaeval range, so much more accurate than a horse-drawn cart, and the addition of the hay load in which people can hide is superb. The water insert for the bucket is a great idea, too.
-
The 6005 looks fantastic, hopefully this is hinting at the arrival of more civilians. Great review, thanks for sharing! :)

Yes, but note that the (odd) soldiers outnumber the civilian :(
I really think it should be just the hay cart - I mean without the soldiers.

But maybe with some highwaymen? The set needs some thugs to hide in the hay :)

Yes I was actually thinking the exact same thing when it was unpacked.
The troll, the dwarves, the hay: they're not just repeats of the same old sets (medieval theme = "castle + king&queen + canon + knights"). New, fun ideas, well executed.
(well apart from the troll, which is a Fisher Price rip-off)

Hey, I LIKE the troll! :P
(Now we need different ones.. different colors... a she troll... a little troll..)
-
Well the problem with the theme is that they appearantly could not decide on going medieval or fantasy. I think they should have chosen one of those things. Considering the ugly soldiers on both sides this time, going more fantasy may have been best.
And yes the troll is pretty cool. Just one of those things you have to see in person perhaps.

Oh no, soldiers hidden under the hay to infiltrate the castle is a classic idea.
-
Great review! Thanks for sharing it. :)
-
Thanks for the great review. Love that hay cart. The hay piece is great and it's nice they have used the old cart mold. You know the big barrel on it's stand fits in the cart too, love it like that.

I like the idea of a troll, but the look isn't what I was expecting for a Playmobil piece.
Still, I might get it one day :) I've got my eye on the dwarves, you see.
-
That Hay cart is even better than I expected. Thanks for the great pictures. The coachman is a very nice one. I don't think there's anything wrong with his beard.
I don't know about the baby dragon. He looks a bit simple to me. His mom is gorgeous.
-
I've just noticed that the hairstyle on the driver is not the usual jagged style; the "jags" at the front are different lengths.
-
Aha! I hadn't even noticed that. Well, I think it looks great.
And I don't mind the beard, I just liked the clicky with a younger sort of look to him.
-
Nice reviews that hay cart looks good really like the civillians clothes particularly with the ragged sleeves, being able to hide people inside the hay bale is a great idea loads of potential there just a pity the soldiers aren't particualrly good looking. I don't think I've seen the water in the buckets before it certainly looks better than the bit of air dry clay I made and painted to fit in the buckets.
You've got some great photos of the Dragon, it's nice to meet Debbie and her baby which is indeed quite simple but, still cute I mean you can't really expect to much detail on such a small dragon I guess but, I really do love the look of the bigger one. It would have been better if there was a seperate flame to go inside the mouth but, it's still better looking than the red one which my 1990's Dragon had.
-
That hay car is magnificient i want 10!
And the water in the bucket, does it have its own part number? I have a lot of buckets which could be filled. :)
Thanks for reviewing.

Yes. Don't have it at hand (but the instructions are at the pcc), but I have got a few (it was on the fairy bags first)
-
What I wonder about is how easy the water is to take out of it once it gets in there. :)
-

Not. Well, actually, this one came off. But the first fairy one did not... and I don't think it is meant to. I could be wrong though. We got a bunch, and figured some buckets are fine with water. Permanently, I mean. :)
-

Well, I wondered about that too, but my water piece just falls out when I hold the bucket upside down.

Now that is realistic
Great review of a "must buy" for us. Actually we/I plan on buying quite a few of the hay cart and a couple dragons.
I agree, asides from the fantasy elements that geobra did a great job on these.
-
Great review! Can't wait to get both these sets (you sold me on the Dragon).
I actually don't mind the inclusion of the soldiers - yes I could do without them (and they will probably just go in the tub of klickies I want to take apart but can't. :( ) But they are really easy to ignore and, at least in the minds of Geobra, they some how make the set more marketable to kids. I figure it's better then some of the other things they've done to otherwise cool sets.

Go buy some fishing line (the rather strong kind), cut off a piece and tie it in a loop. Put the loop around a door handle or a very firmly rooted thing in the wall.
Then make a noose - best to make it a double one - and put it around the klicky's head and firmly pull it tight. Then pull and wriggle a bit to get the fishing line in between the crease of the neck, a short pull, and behold! :)
Tahra taught me how to do it.
(Best to remove all bits and pieces such as hair, and don't put your face near the clicky when you're pulling. Sometimes the head or the neck piece goes flying around the room!)

Birdie & Tahra - thanks for the reminder. I really need to try this method - I'm hopeless at the others. (This summer I kept trying both the "hands-on" and rubber band method and was successful only once with each method.) I'll have to figure out if any of my door knobs and secure enough - most wiggle a bit. I really really going to try to figure this out THIS weekend. My bin of clickies to be popped is getting full. I'll try to actually take some pics. Thanks!!!
-
Good luck!! :)
I don't use a door knob, I use the banister of the staircase.
-
Well, if I can help.. just lemme know ;)
Lately I've been having some success with the "whack" method - can't do it with my hands - must be on some cloth on the kitchen counter.. but that is limited to slim pants klickys... (and only legs that I wouldn't die if I broke them...) The popper is still the most widely successful one I've had... but for the ones that works, whacking them IS faster.
-
It IS succesful! 8-)
Look at how good this guy from the 6005 hay cart cleaned up, and he had a very difficult neck piece thingy:

the freckles make him look like he is properly messy, as a peasant should be, now if he could have a messed up shirt

I'll give him a shovel and tell him to start digging ;)

I like the way you did him!
