Yesterday, on Dunc's photo story, I posted this:
Nice that someone got some snow this winter! >:( All we got was an ice storm, so the Captain's entire family has been pretty darned grumpy!
Well, wouldn't you know it, this morning we awoke to snow, instead of the ice storm they were calling for! And it was an awesome snow - about 5 inches of fluffy, sticky, wet snow - perfect for making snowmen, snowball fights, sledding, etc.
So first up, a couple of shots of the snow, the aforementioned snowman, and a couple of my "12 inches to the foot scale" klickies enjoying themselves. ;)

Well, since this is a storytelling forum, let me tell a quick little story...
The captions are, in order:
Captain Henry awoke to find the landscape turned white, so he called to his mate to get the Jeep fired up and off-roading they went!
Things were going great until the good cap'n lost control of the Jeep and it skidded sideways.
Just in time, CH managed to get it stopped, but the Jeep hung precariously over a dangerous fall.
Great, now how do we get out of this?

We'll call the Snow Rescue patrol, that's what we'll do!
Nothing a little winch-work can't fix! (Yes, I am sure Dunc is beside himself that the winch cable was attached to the Jeep roll bar instead of the chassis!)
Thanks guys! You're the best!
Maybe we should ride up here so this doesn't happen again...

You know what, cap'n? The view is better from up here anyway! And there's no chance of driving off a cliff! ;)
And lastly, for the animal fans among you, a shot of our dog Buddy frolicking in the powder! :D

Great photos, Cap'n Henry ...
Enjoyed looking at all that snow and your "snow-drifted" jeep.
I especially liked looking at it from the comfort of my lounge chair in the shade of a coconut palm ... ;)
Thanks for sharing.
All the best,
Richard

Fantastic winter pics! Thanks for posting them, Henry! :D
Happy to hear that your wishes finally came true. :)
Looks like Buddy enjoys the snow just as much as you and the children! :yup:

Thanks everyone, I am glad you liked the photos. (And Dunc, feel free to grab whatever you like for your website.)
Yes, Sylvia, Buddy does love the snow. But the big problem is that the ice and snow cakes the hair on his legs, and will not melt for a long time after we come back in. Even with a hair dryer it takes a lot of work to get him dry and clean again. But he has so much fun being out there with my wife and the kids that it would be cruel to leave him inside...

Great story and great photos, Cap'n, and I really like that dog of yours.
No snow like that for us for a long time.

Thanks Gordon!
Yes, Buddy is a very cool dog. He is about 7 years old, but we have had him for almost two years. He, and his brother, belonged to a friend of ours who could no longer care for them. They came from an abusive home, so we did our best to make them feel loved. In all honesty, it was tougher for me than for Krista or the kids. Krista is an animal lover and instantly bonded, and the kids, well they're kids with dogs. For me, suddenly we had two dogs to deal with and there were times it was annoying.
The funny thing is that Buddy used to be a real nasty dog. He was just unfriendly and unpleasant. One day we took both digs to the vet, and unfortunately the older, larger dog, Muttley, had an allergic reaction to the distemper vaccine. He went into shock and died a few hours later. Needless to say, quite a traumatic incident for the kids. But the interesting thing is that Buddy's personality changed, almost instantly. He still dislikes all other dogs intensely, but he is a VERY sweet and gentle dog now. He loves to just sit beside us and keep us company, and even though he is not a very energetic or athletic dog (he has no concept whatsoever of "fetch!" :) ) he does like to run around outside when it snows. We are currently deciding how to get a puppy for Merboy, and incorporate it into our family, since Buddy does not like other dogs.
