Title: Looking for a specific zookeeper-figure but can't find which set he comes in
Post by: Hadoque on November 11, 2013, 15:55:29
Recently I got a specific zookeeper-figure and I want a few more (or parts of him), but I don't have a clue which set he comes in (not to speak about his partnumber for DS-ordering).

I can't show him because I've already taken him apart for customizing, but he looks exactly like the zookeeper in the picture below except that he has a grey baseball-type cap (I think with the word zoo on it) and darkgreen armsleeves that match the colour of the torso (colour referred to is the same as the darkgreen kneetrousers of the folkloristic mountain-theme figures).

Anyone an idea which set the one with the green armsleeves comes/came in? A partsnumber perhaps as well?

Sorry, but I can't seem to find it. I went through all my instructions, and I have pretty much every zoo set ever made, and certainly all of the ones from this series that would match him. :-\ You sure he wasn't a custom? Were his sleeves long or short?

Before asking here I too checked all sets I know of, Wildlife included, and I couldn't find any result either...
There is a slight chance he is a custom, but I don't think so.

The sleeves were long ones, I was looking for such specific green arms for a long time but only found them as shortsleeves, mostly with other zookeeper-figures. So I was quite happy to find this one (I think I got him on ebay) with long sleeves that match the darkgreen body....
I've never ever seen another figure with these green arms in the longsleeve-version, except for the green SWAT-special figure but that guy has black hands.
I could rebuild him to take a pic but I'm out of batteries for the camera and it's public holliday here.

Hm, very strange. So the color green on the arms is the same color as the zookeeper shirts from this current series? It would have been nice if they'd had some green arms, but the only one that did that I know of had short tabbed sleeves, I believe.

(I think I got him on ebay)

If you got him on ebay, how can you be confident he hasn't had new arms fitted? I know I have picked up several figures from ebay which look totally plausible, but can't find them in playmoDB- even three figures the same, once- clearly those were customs.

There must be a klicky with the exact same green arms somewhere- or perhaps these arms (and the whole klicky?) came from Malta and the arms are from a klicky not yet released, but currently being assembled?

I was going to suggest Wildlife rangers, but you have checked them. When you get some batteries, could you post some pics? so we can see the colour (even pics of a dismembered klicky would help).

So the color green on the arms is the same color as the zookeeper shirts from this current series?

Yes, it is an exact colour match with the torsos of those figures, and it also exactly matches the colour of the kneepants of the folkloristic fellows from the Alpine (Mountain) Theme.
I had been going through all the zookeeper-figures - and most recent klickies from other themes - to find this colour-match, without result until I bought this single figure.

If you got him on ebay, how can you be confident he hasn't had new arms fitted?

I'm pretty sure this one came from someone not selling customised figures, and he had a cap with "zoo" printed on it  that I haven't been able to track down to another zoo-figure.

There must be a klicky in some set with these arms, that's for sure.
Might perhaps be a not-yet released one, but I don't think so. I've also checked out all known to-be-released figures till august next year, from the PCC-download.
Maltese sellers sometimes have never-seen-before klickies on offer, but usually those figures are already in production and appear in sets only a few months later.

When you get some batteries, could you post some pics? so we can see the colour (even pics of a dismembered klicky would help).

Meanwhile I've been looking where I could have left his "remains"...  ???
I used the armsleeves for a figure in my "Rembrandt's Night Watch"-scene, but I fear I might have thrown the torso and legs in one of the "citylife-bins" (big boxes with all kind of modern parts that I'll probably never use), so that will be some mess to find those back...

edit: just found his legs in one of those boxes, torso is still missing

It's not sounding familiar to me.

I found the parts back so here is a photo of the klicky I'd like to know about which set he comes in...
He definately is a zookeeper, but I can't trace him back to any set  ???
He is not wearing his cap in the picture, but when I got him he had a baseball-cap in the same colour as his trousers.

As you can see in the picture below, the long darkgreen armsleeves of the klicky in the picture above also perfectly match the green colour of the torsos from the known recent zookeeper-figures (who allways come with yellow longsleeves, or darkgreen shortsleeves)

Reason I'm looking for those darkgreen armsleeves: to make more custom-figures like the one below.
(he acted as the flag-carrier in my Rembrandt-Nightwatch scene)

Hm. Well, the only zoo keeper I have with those overalls came with yellow arms, and I'm sure I have all the zoo sets from this series. He must be a custom, but that still leaves the question of where the arms came from.  :eh?: Wish I could help.

Looking at the picture, I think the Dinos motorbike rider 5237 might have arms of that colour.

Ok, I found the dino biker. I can't say that his arms are EXACTLY the same color as the zookeepers, maybe a half a shade darker. But they definitely are a pretty close match, and you'd never notice the difference. That's probably where your arms came from.

Ha! Well done bb! Edit: and Elaine!
He's AWOL in Playmodb because his arms are described as 'unknown colour', so he doesn't show up with Find-a-klicky. Here is his page:
http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/klicky.pl?partnum=30-00-1103 (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/klicky.pl?partnum=30-00-1103)

There is a lot more about him that's 'unknown' as far as the DB is concerned. I would suggest submitting a correction to Heather, but I don't think she wants them at the moment. (I PM'd Heather a few weeks ago and offered to collect and collate such information while the DB is not being actively maintained, until such time as it could be entered, but she was probably too busy to reply!)

That guy will probably be the origin of the arms, thanks elaine!  :)

I may be mistaken, but isn't he the mechanic in one of the dirt bike sets?

Close!

Mystery solved, Skypurr and bb were right;
The motorbike-driver in set 5237 has the long, very darkgreen armsleeves! Got him now and imo the armsleeves match exactly with the torso and legs I used on my custom.
