Title: question about updated guideline
Post by: Hadoque on May 08, 2013, 18:55:15
With regard to the updated guideline about WW II;

Is it allowed to show pictures or customs concerning (the era of) WW I ?

I ask because during exhibitions I took pics of some big dioramas of the early 20th century, one  including only French soldiers of the 1914-era, and a very similar one with also German soldiers. Nazism didn't exist yet during WW I, but this war might nevertheless still be controversial to some...
I'd like to know if I can post the pictures of the dioramas (when time also allows).

I think it's ok as long as it doesn't crash with other guidelines, regarding blood, gruesome images or any other situation discribed in the guidelines.   :)

Yeah, same as Gaston said. The policy on nazi customs is required by geobra, but as far as I know there aren't any restrictions on showing other modern war customs.

I really like how Hans Beck managed to bring so much joy into the world with playmobil after a lot of pain was caused by nazi germany.

He truly helped redeem the country so that it could be viewed positively once more.  When thinking of germany, playmobil tends to be one of the first things that comes to mind.  :)

Not sure if that is true for people who don't collect Playmobil or don't have an association with the toy. I think most Europeans of today (and who momentarily don't live in Spain, Portugal, Italy, Greece and Cyprus) link Germany with quality, especially with regard to products like f.e. cars, household equipment etc.
And beer of course (though nothing beats belgian abbey beers  :P )

On a sidenote:
Though WWII caused the death of millions and incredible destruction, it also brought along a great speeding-up in technological advancement, with later many civilian applications during the golden era of the 1950s and 1960s...   8}  Would be nice if mankind would not need a terrible worldwide war and a slaughtering of it's own kind to get  a quantum leap in technological advancement. Even the internet today is the result of military scientific development during a (Cold) war...

I've only tried one Belgian beer, Juliper, and it was very nice indeed.
