Title: Hello From North Carolina
Post by: stroebel83 on May 02, 2013, 00:28:10
Hi, My name is Paul. I am a six year US Army Veteran and recent college graduate. My wife and I have four children: 13, 5, 2, and 5 months.
So, I know very little about playmobile. But I have a 5 month old son who just had surgery and we are trying to decorate his room. He has to wear a helmet for the next year, and I thought a knight theme would be fun.  I have always like playmobil, but haven't collected it. Usually I just buy action figures. But I thought that playmobil would cover lots of themes for him later, and the knights would be fun with his helmet. They are friendlier than legos (for small children), and star wars figures are getting to steep, and are fairly limited on play value. At least playmobil has play-sets.  I have picked up a few lots of knights online, and we have a doug and melissa castle, but I would like to find a nice playmobil one. The only problem is I have no idea about what I am looking at. The members here seem friendly and informative. I have some questions I will post as I get familiar with the site. Until then, if I am quiet, it is because I am learning

Hello and :welcome: from Louisiana! So great to have you with us, and what a wonderful idea to decorate your son's room with knights who wear helmets like him. Some friends of mine had a little girl who had surgery and was required to wear a helmet for a year as a baby, and they painted hers to look like a ladybug, and as she grew they painted her second one as a bumblebee. It was very cute!

Welcome from England!

Don't be shy about asking questions, we are all learning and Playmobil changes every day with new sets and figures being issued, not to mention the customs and dioramas created by fans like us!

Welcome, feel free to ask questions.

Knights is my main theme, not a big collector myself and mostly just using it to tell stories.
I can recommend getting some of the older knight sets that dont only have castles with knights and soldiers, but also heralds, monks, peasants, houses, servants and pretty much everything needed to portray medieval life. This way it greatly expands the educational value so that kids can learn a lot about the medieval period as you play.
And the tales of chivalric knights also open up the door to teach about morals in a not too obvious way.  :)

I will have to post pictures soon, bu t we have made some big acquisitions already.

We have lots of knights and ladies.
A 3666 castle and a 3268.
Blackbeard's ship and a handful of pirates.
About two dozen Vikings and a viking ship.
The wife told me to slow down, but she Hasn't seen Fort Bravo in the shed.

i do hope to post images soon.

Welcome from Amsterdam, the Netherlands. I'm into the knights too, also ancient and exotic warriors. Use them to make chess sets and for a fantasy comic (see the link in my signature). Hope you like it here
