Title: hello from east anglia uk
Post by: crazy mama on January 11, 2013, 14:38:23
hello everyone,

I'm Julie , and new to playmobil.
I've always seen it and wanted it for the past 30 odd years and now i have a family of my own i now have an excuse to buy playmobil  ;D
one huge positive is that i have found i can explain new situations to my autistic son using his playmobil and he seems to understand it.

our collection is mainly secondhand and is growing by the week.

currently we have a firestation ,engine and crew of firefighters, police station various police vehicles and men, ambulance, recovery truck , rescue truck ,a couple of boats and  are waiting for the delivery of 16 more members to our family! a motley crew of firefighters and people i found on the net looking for a home.

hopefully i can get help and advice from you guys as to what is best to get to join our family.

julie

Hello and :welcome: from Louisiana USA! I was interested in your story, because I have two close family members on the autism spectrum. It's nice to hear you're finding a way to connect through playmobil.

Hello and welcome to the group Juilie. If advice on what to buy is all you are looking for, well any box that says playmobil on it will do . Its great to hear that you were able to find a toy that helps you communicate with you child through play. I must say though you are a very patient person, 30 years of waiting for an excuse is a long time. I seem to not be able to wait 30 seconds when I see a set I want/need on a shelf.

Hi Julie,
Welcome from Southern Scotland :scotflag:

My Playmobil collection started in the same way - we bought the Victorian House to use to help our eldest son (who is deaf and has some special needs) with speech and language.  We added a market and a playground and then it just sort of grew and grew ...
this Christmas my sons bought Playmobil for me!

Hello and welcome from the Netherlands.  :)

I am sure that the friendly clickies will be a good way to help your son to better understand certain social situations, and help him explore what would be expected of him in such situations.

And of course its a great way for any child to explore their own imagination and creativity.  :)
