Hello
I have recently purchased a Coach and a Baggage Car from the Bachmann Lil Big Train Range and have found the scale is a perfect fit for Playmobil, at some point I want to get one of the engines from this range to see if it will also look ok with a couple of klickys on the footplate. The coach and the baggage car were "only" £21 each and the quality was a lot higher than I had expected for the price.
Happy New Year

I think you'll find that the Lil Big Train is actually a bit bigger than the Playmobil scale which is 1:22.5. Also, if you want to run Playmobil train items with it you may find there is a difference in the coupling height.
-
We also thought that Bachmann engines would be too big for Playmobil, however the difference isn't as noticeable as we thought. Here's some comparison pics with a Steaming Mary (excuse dust) with our Christmas train a Bachmann little big hauler.

Thanks for the excellent pics and the comparison of both locos.
-
yes, thank you for the wonderful pictures on the comparison. You really did a fine job on showing both engines. I would love to start collecting more engines but I keep pretty busy collecting only playmobil.
As Gordon said the couplers look diffrent but I think one is able to change them out.

Thanks for your nice comments, the Bachmann is so long we needed a step ladder to get the overhead photo.
The couplings are a US style which we changed at the rear for a Playmobil (LGB) style loop and because it didn't fit correctly drooped downwards and made it the perfect height for coupling.
Here it is doing its Christmas rounds.

Thank you again for your very kind comments.
The snow was cotton wool roll with fake snow on top and the snow between the tracks came from a pound shop and is bits of shredded carrier bags.
