Hey buddies!
Thanks to a friend of FB, I started creating some items I always wanted and Geobra never made. The process is easy: you create a 3D design on any 3D software, then send it to the 3D printer, that's it!
Of course, there are some issues to be expected, like objects too thin/small to be printed, but look at what I got! ;)
First the Mirmillo helmet for the Thracian Gladiator:
Then the Samurai Kabuto (helmet). Not satisfied with the one we got, so here's mine.
I also had a Yari (lance) printed. The shaft is too thin and the clicky can't hold it properly. I'll make another one soon.
Then the Chichak, a helmet for the Ottoman/Saracen army.
Then the Secutor helmet (another famous gladiator). For this one I made a few mistakes, so I can't fit it on a clicky. Originally, I had a pair of feathers on the sides, but they were too small and didn't fit either. The next version won't have the feathers nor the holes on the sides, I guess.
How do you guys like these??

:o
These look absolutely great, Arnaud!! Can you please explain a bit more about this? You design the object and then print it on what? paper? or some other material? ??? and then you put it all together in some way?
-
its a powder.. look on youtube.. there is a docu.. theres a company in germany they do it actually very cheap... 1-3 a cm3.
-
first of all...a WOW!! for that samurai helmet, Arnaud!
well drawn!!!
I'll be contented to have just your stickers....not even your sticker-making abilities :P so I wont think about 3D drawings for a while :P
I wonder if there's a liquid you can drop them into to coat them with something as hard as plastic when dry? It'll be painful to say, accidentally break either of the folded back cheek protectors for the samurai ;)
...and thanks for sharing big another leap for customising mankind :)
-
ideal for prototypes and than use resin to copy
-
Thanks guys!
@ Panos: you send the 3D design by email, like a Photoshop file. Then the printing process goes like this: inside a "drawer" full of plastic powder two laser beams heat the plastic on each voxel of your design so it melts and hardens in place. When the printing is done, they remove the unused powder and retrieve the parts.
@ Cheng: this is hard plastic actually. It might only need some sand papering, then primer and paint. My intention is to make master models with this process, and then make resin casts, so they're cheaper.
The small parts on the Kabuto are separate parts, I just set them there with wax. On the definite version, you will have to glue them upon the helmet.
I still have some details to work out.
Best,
A.

yes indeed!
masses for our armies...and I no longer have to envy those lego customisers who can buy mass produced helmets ;)
-
I also have a Jingasa i progress. ;)
-
and hard enough to sand paper?! oh, wonderful news, Arnaud!
WOW.....I wish you every success so that we, the other customisers of armies will one day be able to get hats or helmets without waiting for geobra from year to year...and of course WWII helmets which will never be made by them ;D
you'll be too busy handling our requests to continue with your other serious profession. ;)
..and weapons too?!
as long as we make parts not available from geobra, they'll let us wayward customizers uninterrupted enjoyment of our army-customising hobby :)
-
a just-snap-on Jingasa, Arnaud!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
noooooooooooooooo..............yessssss ssssssssssssssssssss!!!!!!
I'm trying not to go on my knees but you know how a big number paintable jingasa can allow many members to suddenly explode with samurai armies overnight!
I'll just say I'll be contented with upgrading those thin jingasa my armies are wearing....but I dont think I will be able to resist building more, given this one japanese body part I still lack ;)

Your suggestions are welcome my friend!

Cool. I've heard of 3d printers, but I didn't know that there were any that took orders.

WOW. Really great customs! :wow:

Nice helmets!
I have been seriously looking into getting a printer, for myriad custom projects (STECK, STECK, STECK!), But the price is holding me back yet. (It's hard to be thrifty AND an early adapter...) Especially on the larger printers needed to make building parts. :(
My understanding is that other color input plastic is easily available. So, if you ever want to crank out helmets by the batch, you could create them, say, in grey. Is that right?
Have you already sanded the helmets in the pix you posted? I can see the tiny ridges on some of them, but they are VERY slight. I was expecting less resolution (?) from the examples I'd seen. Output objects online mostly looked like 90's era video game images, with lots of "bumps". If your prototypes are not sanded, I am very impressed with your printer's quality.
Very cool stuff. Keep on designing!

These are beautiful, very interested in the gladiator helmets. You may add my name to the list please ;D
Great work !! :)9

Hey Doug.
On the pictures, the parts were not sanded. The small squares that appear on the Mirmillon helmet are due to the design itself. I have used a very simple software in which you create a design by adding basic shapes. I think that with Silo or 3D studio you can get better results, but they're both complicated for a beginner like me.
When I have all my master models sanded I will make resin casts. A 3D printed helmet costs about 6-8€, can't create a whole army with these, I reckon.

but u can do it with resin?
-
maybe u can create a chinese hat? what program u use? i know autodesk maya a bit but no real cad stuff
-
OH MY GOOD-GOLLIE-GOSHNESS!!! :o :o :o :omg:
Those are stupendous Arnaud! :wow:
That is so amazing!
How much do they cost to make??? Please give my a number! :prays:
That is so cool! ;D
...
Could you make custom steck pieces with this? 8}
-
could u do a nice chinese hat? i need to sort out my 3d skills first :)
-
Arnaud, even closed belts and neck pieces ;) but different from Geobra's of course...will be a giant leap for our customising fraternity :) ...I hope you get enough time to sleep ;)
-
Interesting designs. :)
-
Amazing and well done!!! I have always been thinking about enlisting the 3d printer for parts after reading news the James Bond car is actually made with 3d printer
Thanks for being the pioneer and the helmets do look great and look forward to seeing them after sandpapers are used on them
-
Thanks all!
A Jingasa is a "chinese" hat, Mike. Only, it's Japanese, made of iron, and was worn by the Ashigaru, the Japanese footmen. It does have the same flat cone shape as the Asian wicker hats.
You can have the design printed in HD resin, but I found out this resin doesn't work for small parts, and I had to cancel half of my order.
@ Doug: I think Steck parts would be very expensive with this process, even if you mean to make a dozen resin casts and sell them.
@ Cheng: to create helmets, I first had to create a clicky head. To make belts or collars, I will need to make a torso, and THAT is really difficult.
-

u did one? i have a torso in maya somewhere.. i did ones a full klicky

could this help?
http://www.cgtrader.com/3D-models/Sports-Hobbies/Playmobil-Toy.html
-
Would this help if you can scan those original helmet into 3d models and modify it into the thing you want?? So it must hold firmly on klickies head
-
Well this model was made under 3D S Max obviously and this is way beyond my skills. Still… we're all experts here, and any of us can tell that the torso is wrong. Try go imagine the part as several basic shapes together (cube, sphere, egg, cylinder, etc...) can you see the difficulty with the torso?
The Jingasa I made isn't printed yet. I need Cheng's expertise first…
-
@ Cheng: to create helmets, I first had to create a clicky head. To make belts or collars, I will need to make a torso, and THAT is really difficult.
hmmm...its not possible to select/fix the internal diameter of the hair-fitting recess area in the 3-D software?
As for the jingasa, there's no 'correct slope/angle for the conical hats....for versatility (polished ones for ashigaru & unpolished ones for chinese or ming soldiers), I'll say make their apexes at 100 degrees....as for the brim of the jingasa....our klickies have exaggerated large heads so its ok to make them as broad as their shirt-shoulders (any larger, they will start to look like fishermen or paddy planters' straw hats)
...hope the artist of this attachment wont sue me...its just my personal opinion :P
-
Thanks Cheng. I'll try to send you a sketch, only I don't know what file format I should use…
I assumed these were made from a single sheet of iron, hammered to shape and riveted, so I drew a thin groove from top to bottom at the back and two rivets/studs to simulate the fold. Is that good?
-
@Heronimus: I don't know about 3D scanners available for non-professional people. Though my prosthetist does have one. The site where I get the prints from doesn't provide scanning. I understand it would be useful to just scan a part and modify it, but: 1-it would spoil the fun and the feeling of achievement when you receive your own parts, and 2-I don't think Geobra would let this pass…
@Cheng: I managed to get a nice fit of the helmets to a clicky head.
-
what programm u use for modlling?
-
It's called Tinkercad, it's an online software (meaning you work inside your browser). You have to open a paying account to use it.
-

Arnaud, maybe they dont use rivets...joints between 2 thin flat sheets could have been made by crimping(?) one edge around the other and leaving the 'roll' on the underside...so all we see from the top could just be a clean 'meeting' line folded downwards. so a shallow line is fine but it might weaken the pvc jingasa...anyway geobra might not bother to cast the joint so maybe you dont even want to have the line lest it looks more un-playmolike :P
jpeg or jpg files would be the more versatile as an attachment anywhere.
would you use PVC strips like me to simulate the chin-tie?
-
Ooooooh! awesome!!
The design is amazing Arnaud!
Is it easy to sand them off? Ho9w fragile are they?
I can't wait to see them finished!!!
-
Actually, sanding wasn't very efficient. :'(
My options are then, either to make the models with another software, or to make a first resin cast, sand it and then another mold…
-
This is very high tech playmobil part. I really like the results and your designs of the helmets. Some are more artistic than toy like but they all look uniquely great. So you have a set of commands for a printer that spits these out? In theory couldn't people send each other custom designed parts?
-
In theory couldn't people send each other custom designed parts?
I can't understand your question, Ras. Do you mean the actual resin casts or the hard plastic prints? Or just the files?
-

Well I guess it depends on whether or not people have access to the same printer. I was thinking about the file which has the commands for the particular custom part. In the future maybe Geobra could send us rare parts via an email, then we go to a printer store and print out our parts. This technology really opens up possibilities
-
It would be awesome if we didn't depend on their (lack of) willingness to provide parts... Of course, though they don't want to sell them to you, I bet they'd make a fuss if someone else would...
Anyways.. looking forward to a "workable" helmet... Didn't quite understand what went wrong with that one...
Hint hint hint. ;)

They also could have welded it.
In Europe by this time they had welding processes that leave the finished product with no seam what-so-ever.
I am sure they could have done the same in Japan, and it would have made the helmets stronger.
Hey Arnaud, if making a belt is hard, could making a belt clip be easier?
You could probably make a belt clip to hold Samurai swords without needing to make a whole belt.

Playmobil is shown in that video as an example regarding quality & copyright issues...
When you're making your own designs, there still is the problem of the material the prints are made out and how strong/resistant they are. Most 3D-printed items today are made of layers of compressed plastic powders.
And when materials get more diverse and stronger (and they do, I've seen a vid about a working M-16 assault rifle being printed), I'm not so sure if it would be remain much fun if you can make ALL the (fake) Playmobil you dream off (already no longer a need for a PCC to get exclusive sets; someone scans a set and everyone prints his/her own ''Albrecht Dürer'' ;D ) or ANYTHING else you'd like to have at home or at your local printshop. When you think about the longer term, without regulations the effects of such developments could become devastating...
-
Thanks Ras!
very very clear now and this opens up huge possibilties like Arnaud says and I'm sure we have loads of parts we wish Arnaud can make ;)
and WoT, until someone finds historical records to say most jingasa were rivoted or crimped or welded, maybe Arnaud might just leave a line or even none ;D
...if making a belt is hard, could making a belt clip be easier?
You could probably make a belt clip to hold Samurai swords without needing to make a whole belt.
great sugestion WoT! now I'm wondering if a clip can be made for swords, worn horizontal at waist-level, at the side or behind! :)
-
I agree with you Hadoque, besides the legal implications, it will definitely take out the fun of searching, trading, cutting, sanding etc...so I better keep customising and enjoy this as long as I can until my grandchildren asks to copy my customs ;)
-
...

Well I know earlier period Samurai (1200s-1500s) had a ring attachment to their belts which would hold their sword. They could be easy to replicate in a way that would make carrying the sword in the Samurai fashion quite easy.

cant u use these as basic models for hat size? free to dl
http://banbury.zxq.net/LightNEasy.php?page=playmobil
-
hi Arnaud ! ca roule ?
so you succed to find someone to do that ! the tracian is a masterpiece ! euh a masterpiece of a computer ... anyway this is great !!
I also dream of this helmet since a long time !!!
With that it's possible to make one helmet a day ? i mean , is it a long job ?
Is the painting ok on this kind of plastic ?
The costs seems to be a bit hight if you want to do a lot , you should do one very clean and maybe ask someone to make moulds in resine (for 3E it must be ok)
-

are all those made with a 3D printer?
-
No Ras, those are 3D views. But I guess you could have them printed.
@gasp: I drew them myself and got them printed by Sculpteo.com. Creating process takes about 3 hours for a helmet, less for a shield.
@Mike: thanks for the link, I'll try and download at least one. Might have to mearn Blender then… Pfff! Is it going to end?
@WoT: belt clip? Do you have a pic?
Best,
A.

I am going to look locally for a print shop that has these 3D printers. I really want to explore this technology and its applicability to our playmobil collection.
-
I'd love to "see" one of those with my hands...
-

Come on, Erwin, think about a printed 3-master - that would be something...
Back: I don't like printing, resin or else, it is not Playmobil. This brand has so much to offer, so many parts - be creative, if something is not historical accurate, use your imagination and fantasy.
If I see some figures completely customized with non-Playmobil and only the head let's you know it could be a Klicky underneath - I have a hard time classifying this as Playmobil.
-

Well, with that I agree... I mean, bent limbs, NOSES :o ... That's not playmobil...
I don't think that gorgeous  gladiator helmet would make the klicky custom be classified as "non-playmobil" though.. At least not to me...
-
I would want to use the technology to reproduce missing or broken parts that are no longer in production. With the recently re-released church/school that is missing the gavel, hand bell, bell mechanism and pull cord, a person could easily make them on this printer. You would only need a few of them and I think it would be more convenient than finding the old part, casting a mold and then pouring it out of resin. I guess people could also produce the cross that will be missing off the mountain ;) No its not official playmobil but its a great alternative and yes I agree a diorama with a bunch of other brand items is just as much the other brand as it is a playmobil diorama. I too am a purist
-
Well I'm not a brand! a diorama with playmobils and custom playmobils by Cowabounga will remain a playmobil diorama then, won't it?
-
Incredible technology and of course Arnaud your designs are great!
I will like to explorer this technology from a closer view
-
Go ahead, Angelo! If I can do it, you can do it. You just need to "see" the design as multiple basic shapes intertwined. How do you make a 20 cm hollow sphere with a 2cm shell? You just create an 18 cm hollow sphere, place it inside the 20cm one, align both centers in the three axises, and group them! A few more steps and you have a helmet! ;D
-
Come on, Erwin, think about a printed 3-master - that would be something...
Aaarrghhh... I hadn't thought of that!
When one could 3D-print a trimaster that just looks and feels like Playmobil and is of even qualitative material, that would make me want a few  I would still prefer Geobra to release one though ;)
I still have doubts about where the evolution of 3-D printing might lead us... It could make dreams come true, but also nightmares... In a not so far future someone might f.e. 3-D print himself a nuke?! 8}
-
Come on Erwin! 3D printing can duplicate shapes, not elements! It won't print Uranium! :)
Think again of that ship. Breathe. Cool down, Cassandra.
-
:giggle:
I know at the moment it is quite farfetced what I said, but printers used to print... ink. Now a 3D- printer prints plastics, and perhaps a few other materials.
Future developments might allow different materials to be fed to such printers, or a mix of materials....
Though "enriched printed uranium" is indeed not so likely ;D
-
Hey buddies!
I can't wait until the next batch reaches me, so here are 2D views of what will come.
@Cheng: sorry I couldn't answer to your mails, the week end with the hobbitses has been veeeeeery busy. I managed to finish this two-handed Katana thanks to you! The weapon, with handle, is 9,9cm long...that's somme really big sword!

This one will have a Playmo feather crest and two feathers on the side.

Same here, two feathers on the sides. A few details corrected.
@Tahra: this last one is the same I already printed, except I made the crest and the brim of the "hat" thicker. The peep-holes are bigger too, so you can see the clicky's eyes through.
Best,
A
-
Arnaud, in my opinion, i think your 2-handed katana should have a proportately longer handle and no need to curve too much (unlike those swords attached to the end of a pole) ...remember this photo?
-
I took a group picture, to encourage you on;
"we need PM quality Asian hats!!we need PM quality Asian hats!!we need PM quality Asian hats!!we need PM quality Asian hats!!we need PM quality Asian hats!!we need PM quality Asian hats!!we need PM quality Asian hats!!we need PM quality Asian hats!!"

You didn't send me this one, Cheng. But thanks, I will correct the curve and I was wondering about the handle as well. How about the total length of the weapon? Almost 10 cm seems huge.

A.
it doesnt have to be much longer for the visual effect comes from the handle which can be almost half as long as the blade
and for a samurai klicky, worn (like a ninja) behind his back, the whole handle should be above his shoulder (I dont think its possible for him to be able to draw a very long sword from this position) ...if you have time, I'll measure against a klicky's arm's length and body length tonight and email or post here (I dont think you'll like the tip of his blade lower than his bum ;)
our klicky samurai will hold the double-handed katana with his right hand very near to the collar leaving the rest of the handle free for his left grip when he's expecting contact
(dont copy the tip of this blade in this photo..it looks wrong)
-
Hey! I changed a few things:
I made the blade shorter, the handle longer and the hand guard smaller. How do you like it now?
-
ooh visually perfect already (too curved and it wont come out of its sheath ;))
but for actual measurement/scale,
a few parameters to check against;
handle say 3x width of klicky hand,
blade say = torso length
blade:handle ratio at least 2x,
if they conflict then adjust the variables to best meet all 3 criterias,
you might find you need to lengthen the handle a bit more or shorten the blade...I cant be sure without a klicky in my hand...
tonight, tonight ;)
-
The lenght of the torso for the blade would make it shorter than the Katana…
-
Do you know if I can send a file that is free to use (both personally and commercially) to have printed?
I'd REALLY like to see if this is usable - how it turns out... Too expensive to do a lot of them, but probably would do for half a dozen special items...
-
while waiting for Arnaud's reply to Tahra,
The lenght of the torso for the blade would make it shorter than the Katana…
done my measurements,
make the handle 2 cm (just about enough for 3 fat klicky hands....big bands and big heads....we can't apply the same ratio from a klicky's height :P)
and leave the blade as long as the katana ie 4cm(I know you're tempted to make the blade longer than the katana to differentiate them which makes playmo-sense ) I suppose its ok when worn slightly tilted to the right shoulder....but he'll have to have very long arms to perform the "turning cut"
-
Wow, these look awesome! Superb customs!!! :wow:
-
If I may interject something about the making of the new katana blade. I think it is important you make the handle round so that it fits into a klicky's hand. (I am not sure if you have already done this, I just wanted to be sure.) That is one of my biggest issues with the Playmobil katanas, after a while of playing they tend to pop out of a klicky's hand.
Also, I tend to look at the katana produced by Playmobil as an early period tachi rather than the late period katana. The blade is too long in proportion to the figure to be a katana, and the handle is too short since (as Cheng already pointed out) the handle should be nearly half the length of the sword if it were a proper katana. Maybe instead of creating a longer sword, you could try and create a more realistic katana? Or maybe that is another project? :P
I enjoy your work Arnaud! I cannot wait to see more! ;D
-
Hey WoT. I'm afraid I can't make anything better than this. The software I use has limits, and so do I. :(
BUT (that's some big but), I made the handle thicker than the PM one. I wanted it flat on the front and back edges, so it's more realistic. Even more for this sword that has such a long handle it will be almost entirely seen.
So, nobody likes my gladiator helmets? :(
-
So I found some 3D printer services in our area. Any chance you would want to share the files to see if I could talk some of these other companies to print out your great designs? I am not able to get any quotes with our the files and I am very curious how much this technology costs to produce.
PS: all your designs look great to me.... helmets and all ;)
-
So, nobody likes my gladiator helmets? :(
YES!
I wanna see them in my GRABBY HANDS...
(from what I understood from that site, you can print the stuff in color, right? like all black - for what I had in mind would be fine... don't remember if they had grey... for the helmets would be a lot better than all whiteish)
-
'So, nobody likes my gladiator helmets?'
No, nobody likes it.... we LOVE it
-
YES!

The grabbing hands, grab all they can. Everything counts in larger amounts.
-
......The blade is too long in proportion to the figure to be a katana, and the handle is too short since (as Cheng already pointed out) the handle should be nearly half the length of the sword if it were a proper katana......
then WoT, you would agree to a 2cm handle and 4cm blade ;)
I dont think the handle can be any shorter or 2 fat klicky hands would be a tight fit and we can't make this blade shorter than Geobra's right?
(I do shorten my PM katana blade.....it makes the handle look longer too)
Arnaud, I do like your other helmets, they are definitely more challenging than the Japanese iron helmet.....just not my theme anymore ;)
and sorry if I seem to be swaying your thread towards just samurai parts. please PFs, just interject with whatever subject you like, I'm sure I'll be very keen to learn about Athenian(?) helmets etc
-
... for the helmets would be a lot better than all whiteish)
Tahra, if I'm not wrong, Arnaud making those Japanese iron hats in white would be most versatile for spraying say lacquer red or light brown...I know spraying is not very acceptable even to myself. I suppose even those whitish steel helmets can be sprayed gold or brass or even chromed!

Well, I'd prefer printed parts to be ready, you know (also, cause I never actually painted anything... :-[ ), so grey would be fine.. like "real" playmoparts.
-
Well, I designed those to be painted. I could have them printed in black plastic but they will need sanding nonetheless, so I chose the cheapest support.
Anyway, they don't provide grey plastic.
-
Anyway, they don't provide grey plastic.
AGH. Ok... I suppose black would be as bad as white for a base color (and harder to paint) :(
Uhm.. wait.. how about PINK ? :P
-
I think they do have pink, actually. :)
So, it's one Thracian helmet in pink for you?
-
I think they do have pink, actually. :)
So, it's one Thracian helmet in pink for you?
:o NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO...
-
As in, no, you'd like a hundred of them, not just one? :P
-
As in, no, you'd like a hundred of them, not just one? :P
Actually, I'd have no real use for a 100.. On this particular item, one would do :o I mean, MAYBE 2.. But it's one of those BIG helmets.. and quite specific..
I intend to cut down on them a lot.... but romans... well...
-
HEY!
Here's the next batch!! :woohoo:
First the Thracian or Thraex. With a custom shield and helmet. I was mistaken on the name of this helmet last time. The Mirmillo will follow and it's different.
Then, the Secutor, another all time favourite of mine. Had to adapt the feathers, because I'd made the holes too small. still need to make the crosses before the eyes thicker...I'm afraid this gladiator will be almost blind!
Then, here's my own Holpite helmet. It needs to come lower on the eyes, and maybe the crest is too big?
And now, I know Cheng has been waiting for this one...I give you...the Japanese Jingasa!
Simple but efficient!
ANd last but not least, the Mirmillo helmet, with both plume crest and feathers! (Same problem occured as with the Secutor).
Goodnight!
A.
-
Great enhancement!!!!! They now look sturdier!!! Look forward to seeing more creations.
-
doko yoi-desu!! this(jingasa) is fantastic!
the 'hairs' of the holpite helmet actually have separated strands...this is something not possible with moulding!
and speedo-dad, well used and his 'leather' straps looks original....well done Arnaud!
...this is your new frontier, 3D printing....to be surprisedd even more ;D
-
argh !!! the result is wonderfull , i would like to do painting on it ... the crest of the grec is really good like that . You really do a great job !!
-
Bravo! and hats off to the inventor of the 3-D printer ;D
-
Hey! Thanks all! I took a few more pics this morning. With colors, this time.

Hi Arnaud
Wonderfull designs and great results
congratz
opens a lot of new possibillities
Thank you for sharing
all the best
-
sure looks better and better in colour ;) and we'll be wondering what final color you'll spray them with...unless you're planning to keep them as masters and spray only those replicated from moulds made from these masters.
and YOI! I'm sure he didnt drop his Jingasa by accident ;D
Arnaud, is this 3D white material soft like our klicky's hair(then difficult to sand) or is it brittle?
-
Thanks Michael and Cheng!
@Cheng: the material is ABS, so it's hard enough. And yes, those will serve as masters and won't be sprayed.
He didn't drop his Jingasa by mistake, it was to show you what it's like underneath.
Best,
A.
-
ah, of course he didn't drop his Jingasa by mistake.....you snapped the last photo by mistake ;) and thank you! :P
-
Hi my friend!!!
You open a door to a World of new odds 8}
You are a pathfinder!!!!....
I´m very surprised....all this is very fast and low cost....low cost to make a "master".
Then....you need make moulds and resin cast....this dont change?....for the moment...
It is fantastic ::) ... the future is coming leaps and bounds.
Soon we will see many people making their own pieces...this can be a Revolution....but only can bring us a more enriched World.
We can make something together..... ;)
Cheers
Javi.
-
So, nobody likes my gladiator helmets? :(
It all looks really cool but I don't really have a need for such hats...
I'd be more interested in civilian Renaissance-hats, period 16th-18th century ;)
And a 3940-based trimaster-hull, -gundeck and -upperdeck of course.
-
your helmets are looking better and better as you tweak the designs. What program are you using to design them all?
As this technology speeds up I can see us printing in diffrent materials and colors. I really can see a machine printing a ship of diffrent colors with graphics and all you do is just put it together... klickies and all.
-

-
Super WOW!!!!!!!!!!! :o :o :o :o
These look SO MUCH BETTER!!!!
Great start! These doesn't seem so fragile to sand off and then paint.- I can't wait for the finished photos!
-
I am really mre than impressed. :)
Please keep it up.
-
Hey!
Just one figure today. This warrior is carrying a rondache aka Arabian shield; and wearing a Beotian helmet. I designed this one for Malone, and waited for his approval on the design to show it to you guys. Enjoy!

I like the shield!
-
Thanks! The helmet was a real challenge. 8}
-
you'll be giving another lease of new life to so many klickies with new roles to play....can't imagine what's next! COWABOUNGA!!!!
-
Wooooooow! Fantastic! I'm speecheless.... just some questions.. what's the difference between a Hoplite and a Spartan helmet? And... are you planning to make some feathered (or winged) Gaul helmets too?
Great craftmanship Arnaud!
-
Thanks for this helmet.....
Thanks to make me participate on this experience....is very exciting.
Make this model have his complications....but you make a very good job....congratulations!!!
-
@lynx: Malone has already done some wonderful Gaul helmets and shield, so I won't do any. But thank you for the suggestion: I might try and make some feathers to fit on some other helmets. 😄
-
Okay. Here are all the designs now available. I chose an orange rendering because it gives better contrast. There are some surprises... ;D

OMG!! OMG!!! ARNAUD!!!!
its as if we are in the next century....where Geobra developers asks collectors what parts they like most
if I had to choose just one.....the samurai shoulder guards would be my first choice...and if you or Malone 'take' orders', I'm going to be camped, on the icy cold floor, sitting on a thick wad of newspapers, first in line ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
its ok to dream even awake :xmascheer: :xmascheer: :xmascheer: :xmascheer: :xmascheer:
-
Wow!!!......Fiesta....Fiesta!!!! :xmascheer:
With the orange colour now I can see better.... 8-)
And surprises.... :o.....the scissor helmet with his arm...I love this piece-concept.
I love your improves on the Ottoman helmet....I love this nasal protector more strong.
-
absolutely fantastic!!!!! :xmascheer:
-
 the new era of parts is here and you my friend have shown us all some amazing developments
They all look spectacular :hatoff:
-
WOW... :omg:
-
When are you taking orders? :-)
-
Now. 😊
-
:o
Prices? :o
-
That ought to be by pm, Tahra. The more orders I get the lower the price for each part. Of course, prices depend on the size (volume) of the parts themselves. Hoplite and Spartan shields, for example, are the most expensive.

Email sent ;D

For Cheng: you will read this while I'm asleep. The Japanese arm greaves are really cheap they're so small! 8}

I value your skill and time most of all, Arnaud!
The greaves are only "cheap" because you are a good friend and doing this favour not for the money :xmascheer:
I will PM you.....did you hear from WoT?
there must be others who will want to build a big samurai army :xholly:
-
He will be Cheng, like... now! ;D
I'll send you a PM Arnaud!

you have kick started new samurai dreams for me, Arnaud! those arm greaves and iron hats will look awesome in bright laminate red! and finished off with your 'mon' stickers! <*) :elf: :xmascheer: :snowman:

Something like this, Cheng? ;)

(I don't have the armgreaves yet! :( )
-
Hai!! 'FACTORY-MADE' Ashigaru desu!
and I dont know if its just me but I have problems getting those super-thin stickers so well-stuck, without creases, over those rounded area...they look printed, Arnaud, just perfect!
-
Me too! I sometimes ruin a transfer on those parts. The Samurai legs are somehow easier to apply, they don't cover that specific area with two curves entirely.
-
He looks amazing Arnaud! :o
I cannot wait to see him with the armgreaves! :D
With your parts and stickers, we will usher in a new era of Playmobil Samurai!
-
This is so awesome to see materialise

Warning! This post is for Cheng! But you're welcome to watch and comment!

I didnt expect to see so many variants of playmo samurai!
YOSHI!! :xmascheer: :xmascheer: :xmascheer: :xmascheer: :xmascheer: :xmascheer:
I like how you coloured the brown and the black/red spears too!
nothing to comment on except (you can live with this :P) that the scabbard for the 3rd samurai is better in lacquer black ;)

Wow, I like the Samurai customs! Top. :thanks: :)9

Awesome customs Arnaud, congrats. Many thanks for sharing.
George.
-
i just have overflown the posts here - very interesting stuff. i don`t know if this was talked about before but why are the edges not rounded in the 3d drawings ?
30% of my work is doing 3d animations . it would be very easy to make more rounded surfaces. if you like i can help with the 3d stuff.
-
Hi René, I can't subdivide in the cad program I'm using. I tried to import one of my files in silo2, and subdivide, but I got glitches in the mesh. I'm happy with the way they are now, but Javi will surely make molds aof these and get better edges and smoother surfaces. Which software are you using?
-
Hi Arnaud, i work with Cinema 4D . You did an awesome job with the 3D ! It looks like you should raise the amount of polygons. what kind of files does the 3d printer need ?
Cinema has a new function that works like z-Brush. google "z-brush" it`s an amazing tool for this kind of work.
-
I heard about cinema 4D, but never tried it. Is there a free/trial version? The files can be .stl or .obj or others. The small grooves on the flat surfaces of my objects come from the printer, not from the designing. Of course, if I could erase the edges of the polygons, that would be great. I'll give a try at this software. Thanks.
-
This is all very interesting but i wonder if such uses divert us very far from the original playmobil parts/designs. i suppose its everyone's choice after all what to use with playmobil etc. Personally i find all this 3d printing very interesting but i have some reservations as to ( personal view of course) how far such 3d items would move a playmo diorama away from an original one in terms of parts. However i am very keen to see more of such 3d uses in playmos, the possibilities are endless !!! :) :) :)
-
Well, George, I agree with you. The point here is to make parts PM never released, or better parts like the samurai helmets. Of course, if they did produce such parts, I would buy them, but some are not likely to be produced ever. Malone has been making Empire stuff for years, and PM never hired him, so I say, if you want special items, do them yourself! ;D
-
Arnaud
Congratulations to you on a dream achieved. As I have mentioned in other customizing or diorama posts, I am always amazed at the artistry and technical skill that is invested in our little klickies with such beautiful results. Watching your progress unfold has been ever so intriguing, even for those, like myself, who do not build armies. Thank you for your generosity in sharing the process.

Once again, I am at a loss for words when it comes to your work Arnaud. :o
I simply wish there were a fainting klicky to express my amazement better. 8}
These are incredible! Absolutely fantastic!!! :wow:

An arquebuse!! An arquebuse!!! :yippee: :yippee:
-
Arnaud has entered a new dimension in playmo-customizing...
and if this reply can reach you as youre speeding away at light-years speed, here's my 2 cent comments;
I saw a gattling gun being offerred at >30 euros on ebay, I think any buyer will willingly wait for yours, without glue ;)
btw, as I've said before, there's no one correct length or proportion for these historical swords but for visual effects and to accomodate our klicky's disproportionate hands and arms, the Nodachi V2.0's handle is 3-klicky-hands-wide? and the Nagamaki not too curved (imagine pulling out from his back if he has a curve sheath :P)
and the wakizhashi!!!!!!!!!! I can visualise a female samurai custom already! ;)
your Gattling gun stole the whole show(display)!
awesome use of your 3-D prowess!
-
:o :wow:
I love the gatling gun too! (DOOM evil grin!) Looking forward to seeing it with a klicky...
-
I like too, the Gatling MG with tripod. It looks fantastic.
Many thanks for the pictures.
George.

the gattling gun, luger etc are fantastic and we are holding our breathe to see them painted and posed ;)
but meanwhile....your Ashigaru(s) are now perfect..nothing needs improving....I'm extremely jealous, Arnaud :P :P :P ;)

Well done Arnaud! And your double handed sword looks even more a jewel with your painting of the handle which brings up the sculpturing you did there! And once again, you have your perfect samurai soldiers!
-
Haven't done any catching up with your 3d work for some time now, Arnaud... But I now see that the level of sophistication is extremely high! Very impressive work!!! Very well done!!!
-

They all look great - especially the hoplite and gladiators! AWESOME work Master :wow:
-
Great customs, well done Arnaud. I my favorite is The Ashigaru with Nagamaki, I like his hat very much.
Excellent job, many thanks for sharing.
George.

Your work and designs are really great. I was doing some reading and came across this article
I like this quote "If I was a manufacturer I would make a store that sells files that people can download and use to make my products on 3D printers. People who are interested enough in my product to make their own copies are fans, so I would nourish them, not try to sue them. " hint hint Geobra ;)

The designs look wonderfull, but I am wondering about something: How strong is the material compared to the official playmobil?
-
It is not fragile. You can drop an item and it won't break, but it's definitely not as strong a PM plastic.

Hey guys!
I've been working on some new models with Rhino. I can't remember if I already posted them or not. I apologize if I have.

good to see this thread moving again Arnaud!
Your 3D parts are quite robust and I've not accidentally broken any....I assume some members might have got you to mass produce some parts for their private armies (we might see here someday or on ebay!)
Geobra is moving away from historical themes so all the more , historical fans like me will find your 3D creations most satisfying and the only way forward at this point. ;)
thanks for marching on!
-
Nice designs again, Arnaud!
with Rhino
Is that a person or a programme? ???
-
Thank you Master Cheng. I do believe we will be making our own parts for a long time. Hopefully, those will cost less as time goes by and people buy more and more.
We will also be making bigger parts. I'd love to see a "palanquin", or a "tower" to fit on top an elephant…
@Erwin: Rhinoceros is a CAD software. The best I've tried so far, easy and efficient ;)

and how about a 3D gattling gun?

It's on page 16 of this thread, my friend. ;)

a thousand apologies Arnaud! and OH WOWWW!! again (I've seen it but forgotten about it)
didnt you cast one for yourself? you can dispay it in so many war theatres and my favourite would be a playmo 'the last samurai' with charging samurai on horses
(I'm still just building Asian armies and not into diorama building yet ;)

"Apologies accepted, Captain Needa". ;D
Was the Gatling ever used in Japan? You know you can't always trust movies. ???

I don't want to know if it wasn't ;)

hello Arnaud , you could also make a guitar for Mettallica ? i think you will guess the shape i have in mind . A question : do you want to sell me fews parts or no ?

Yes, J. It's done, and here it is, an ESP Explorer for M. James Hetfield.

The shields...
-
the shields are so nice, up make me pick the theme!
is the las helmet,Qing?
-
Yes, sir!
-
maybe u can fix plasticlabs rifles.. the grip is awefull and unrealistic!
-
Hi Arnaud....!!
This new helmets seems less hisotric and more fantasy.....you begin to be a artist creative my friend
About the shields....the plastic print also print in colours ?? :o
Kisses ;)
-
@mike1003: You sometimes need to sacrifice realism to playability. I understand why Peter chose to make these handles playmobil-like.
@Javi: No my friend, they're not fantasy. ;) Even the Arabic helmet with the peacock is historical. The printer can print colors, but only basics, not gold. But, the designs on the shields are three dimensional, so they're easy to paint!
-
they are not playmobil like.. see the original playmo rifle.. thats playmolike.
-
That 3D printing is still witch-craft to me  But the stuff you made looks gorgeous on the clickies, I can't even pick a favourite. :wow:
-
Arnaud, I've taken the liberty to save your that Manchu Qing helmet.....thank you!
I might make a General one day finished with an appripriate red tassel from his spike on top of his helmet.
What inspired you to take the trouble to draw this? you are not making a Manchu general soon are you? ;) the others are also very beautiful, its just that I'm restricting myself to Asians for now
-
Thanks Birdie and Cheng! :-[
@Cheng: I was originally looking for a hair bun hood, and I found this hat! The problem when you Google Qin warrior, is that you always find the terracotta statues, and nothing more. I can't remember what I eventually typed to find this one.
Then, I searched for a nice dragon that fitted the sides of the hat, and learnt how to project a design upon another!
Tricky. But when I knew how to do it, I was able to make those decorated Hoplite shields!
;)
A.
-
someday...someday IF I get a 3D machine, I'll ask you ;) as for those hoods...beside illustrations by western artists, the only ones I can find are these movie stills from the movie "Redcliff" .....the actors didnt have hair buns underneath...the 'soft' cap was actually pre-formed urethane-like rubbery "helmet"
-
Hi buddies!
I showed you the renders of my hoplite shields, but you didn't see them done. Here they are:

fantastic Arnaud!
for painting....did you put a base coat first?
-
Thanks Cheng, and yes I did prime the shields with white acrylic paint.
-
One they, these will be affordable by the dozen.... :)
GREAT work :wow:
-
A great paint job, the colours keep the playmo-style.
As you know, I love the "chess" design.... ....I want one for me.....only one.....   ;)
But....the chicken is a french chicken.....ja, ja, ja, ja.
No kidding! ....is fantastic to see new shields mixed with my helmets.....thanks for this gift to my eyes...

Great work, art(isan)wise. But arn't this shields a bit large (https://www.google.de/search?q=hoplite&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=Ax0rUorMF8TctAahhYHYCw&ved=0CE8QsAQ&biw=1024&bih=677)?

I think is the perfect size....really the "hoplon" is a big shield.....and Arnaud find the good proportion....
-
I was going to answer: I took the measures on one of Malone's Spartan shields! ;)
Javi's right, the hoplon or aspis, was a big and heavy shield, and it was designed to fight in phalanxes. It would be too bulky for a duel, I reckon.

I've been working A LOT on my computer recently and here are the results.

And a few all of my Hoplite helmets!

I haven't ordered everything from Sculpteo.com yet, but the Hoplite shields and helmets are here and I've already started to paint some. Wait and see...
-
Wow! Those Greek helmets looks awesome! 1, 7 and 9 are definitely my faves!
I wonder if it would be better for you to buy your own 3d printer (?).
-
Thanks Wesley. Actually, my expenses at Sculpteo are far below the price of a 3D printer. Especially considering those small objects I design require a HD printer, which is very expensive!
-
 those shields.. gods...
-
Arnaud, these are all so beautifully done...the drawings by themselves are masterpieces!
.....your happuri mempo reminds me of Mifune! (if you make one for yourself, what playmo colour would you recommend? I think red would be awesome!
.....I must watch Mifunei again and set up my PM samurai war shelf (all taken down and in boxes because we are painting our ceiling)
-
I think a dark lacker red would be awesome. Or black lacker. When I did my research, the first answers were Toshiro Mifune with the happuri. I designed something between his and another picture with the mempo seen from two angles.
-
will we be seeing body armours from cowabounga next? ;D like this one that Mifune is wearing....its generic enough for ancient chinese too...not sure about european ones but would be very playmobil if it can be swopped from theme to theme...then maybe you'll need a 3-D printer if customisers need your help to build armies ;)
-
Hi,
how much does the material for one hat approximately cost?
-
Around 7€.
-
Hey buddies!
Here's my latest batch. I don't have much time to paint them these days, so there's only a few.

Fantastic work Arnaud...!!!...
This desings looks awesome....and more to choose 8}
Personally, I love the shield with chess design.... ;)
And....incredible the feathers for the helmets......on this ABS plastic sure works well....but in resin cast....pffff....too fragil
I can see....better texture but the problem continue... ::)
-
absolutely stunning custom 3D work :o

Speechless !!!! OMG !!!!!
:wow: :wow: :wow: :wow: :wow: :wow: :wow:

beautiful pieces of art, Arnaud!!
from the drawings to the final painting...we can only look in envy

Malone, the 3D cast is stronger than resin? which texture is more problematic? (the 3D or resin? and problematic for painting or gluing? please share with us ;))

Hi, Cheng.
I think I can answer those questions because it's something we've been discussing on and off with Javier this year.
3D plastic is more brittle than resin casts, and it's also harder to glue. The best glue I found is neopren, but it's not a contact glue, so you have to hold the parts together while the glue sets.
The problem Javier is taking about is the grainy surface on the 3D prints, even when they're polished. With resin, you can control how smooth you want the surfaces to be. Resin casts are also cheaper to produce, once you have a mold.
Best,
A.

I totally agree (although I've not sprayed nor glued those few pieces of 3D and resin casts I have) with you...I asked Javier because he seemed to say the opposite...maybe its his English...no offence Javier ;)
...I've been wondering what fillers to use to seal the grainy surfaces before I can achieve a glossy red surface for that Japanese lacquered look...the grainy surface looks more realistic for olden shields, hats, bags, clothes which cant be too glossy...both have their advantages but most of us have neither options :P
-
Hi my friends.... ;D
Sorry for my english like indians....  .....this way begin the Wars.... ;D
Well...really are very differents type of plastic material....with the polyuretane resin I have not problems...we are friends...
But with this 3D plastic....Arnaud said ABS....for me is very strange....I dont understand this material....we are not friends....
To paint I have not special problems....contrary, very well.
But....to improve the texture...I try to use a bit of sand paper....pfff.....impossible....no good result...looks as if it has a low coefficient of friction ???
If I use a Dremel....with low revolutions.....plastic melts easily .... 8}....I turn crazy.
Finally I try to apply a coat of clay....more or less good....but only to make a "master" and make moulds....no to play with.
Toughness and flexibility....beautifull theme....
3D plastic supports better the shock....and the thin parts are more flexible....bends but does not break....in these respects, the ABS is superior...is my opinion... ::)
-
hi Arnaud , bravo very nice !! my two favorite are on the right on the two pictures , original and very nice shape and i really like the feather .
-
soon we will be able to print metal klickies, now there would be pcc gift. a true chromed metal klicky weighing in at 1 pound

I look forward to seeing ur Japanese soldiers...ichiban!

All your 3D drawings carefully researched...accurately reproduced and adapted ala playmo....if geobra will make only one fi?ure...I pray its with the half shaved head with top knot...
-
Wow! Looking through the photo bucket gallery... Love the Star Wars stuff!
-
It's 3D printed, but it's a teaser, I won't show more today. :P
Haha, alright.

I had to wait all night for you to see and comment this one, I'm quite prou of it! It only occured to me yesterday morning, as I was watching my samurais, that those who didn't carry helmets lacked something… they didn't look quite Japanese.
So, I created this half skull with the wig, top knot and the mandatory head band that hides the seam between the clicky's forehead and my part.
Now, I will have to find the perfect shade of pink to match the clickies skin…
Did you see the new sheathed/unsheathed wakizashi and nōdachi?
-
Yes....I was wondering if the final printed n painted weapons would do your fantastic drawings justice.....as we don't expect the moulded surface to be this paintable
Now, I will have to find the perfect shade of pink to match the clickies skin…
Did you see the new sheathed/unsheathed wakizashi and....
And the tall black cloth hats are beautiful too
-
I looked at the half shaved head again...when you find the matching skin color...geobra has to be concerned with 3D printing finally...because you will proceed to bent arms and legs........you will open up another level of alternative parts ...my mind is racing....imagining how our customizing world can be growing exponentially when compared to s few years ago....pre-Malone (perfected casts) era...and now as if changing to another year with 3D skin toned body parts...as more "basic' fi?ures comes in as if just for us to customize....sorry if I seem to give all the credits to Malone for his casts....there were and are also many other skillful resin casters who I'm not familiar with out of my own ignorance of other boards
-
I'm reserving the eboshi hats for my mounted archers. They're expensive, so I won't have too many printed.
You can already have 3D prints in different colours… ;D
-
But printing in matching skin color would be phenomenal
-
I would do a ton of hair styles.
People with klicky knowledge... is there a hair style that looks like Snoop Dogg's? TO THE 3D PRINTER, Robin
-
Hey guys.
Just a helmet I wanted to have for my samurais. It's big and will be expensive, so I won't make too many.

woh..wonderful, Arnaud! for fighting monks too! dont forget the chin strap!
-
I'm not forgetting the chin strap, my friend. I will use those precious PVC stickers you sent me! ;D
-
I'm looking forward to seeing them! I'm sure you have these reference pictures but I thought I'll help other members visualisethe strappings for your handiwork! (if you dont mind the not-too-nice pictures...compared to your clear, crisp & colourful work of art...I'm still archiving them and will print them to look at...just as we like to hold and see our PM catalogues ;)
-
Hey!
Not the fighting monks today, but a special samurai haircut!

3D printed, of course...
-
That looks beautiful. How much would that hairdo cost?
(cheaper if it's diy paint job?)

Hi AgeOwns.
Playmofriends isn't a commercial site, so we don't discuss that kind of topic here. Please use the Private Message service for this. :)

Hi all!
I have made another kabuto design. It's another era. The bowl is studded, and the ear flaps are now part of the helmet itself, so there's not assembly for those. The mempo (face mask) is a new part as well, and I made three new crests. I was supposed to get them today but didn't, so I won't have them before ten days now. :wall:

Two other jingasa also, not sure they'll make it to production, though. That will depend on the price.

the top 2 Kabuto are beautiful....you purposely tilted the crest like some did...the antlers are more practical and playmo-looking (but cant be too thin..that would not be playmo at all)
the 'tortoise shell' will look prefect in high gloss, with a family emblem and the wearer with a PVC chin-strap riding a horse!
as for the straw hat...it has to sit lower to hide the ridge of the wig right? bigger would be fine too
GEOBRA....how about a Fi?ure? maybe somebody better produce another "Last Samurai" movie first
-
Thank you my friend, your conoisseur insight is always precious to me!
I wasn't sure about the diameter of the straw flat jingasa. I wasn't sure either if it should cover the ridge on the wig, those hats are worn very high on top of the head, supported by some kind of small cushion. Maybe I should sit it on top of a wig without the ridge???
The "tortoise shell" jingasa: exactly the shape it reminded me! It's supposed to be for riders, though I've seen paintings of arquebus bearinh ashigaru with this kind of helmet.
Of course, if I produce all those, the clickies will have chin straps, cut from those wonderful PVC stickers you gave me! ;)

my only concern is how the straw hat can be attached tightly to the hair....when we move these customs, his easiest part to hold is obviously his big hat which would come off (I'm still against gluing) easily,
and since we can hardly see the bottom of his hat, his 'pillow' cant be noticed except by you and me ;)
(this was the same problem I had when making the wide brimmed hats for my Koreans who tied a white bandana on their heads...like the pirate captain....before putting on their hats)
but if you must have this 'pillow' to get the extra height, you might as well make the pillow more visible...wrap a strip of white PVC tape around the 'pillow's edge.
as for using a wig without the ridge this would neither have the accuraccy you wanted with the pillow nor the possibility of making the hat hold tightly (only consolation is that you get the hat to sit higher)
how do you intend to hold the 3D hat down? Would using a new pirate wig with the white bandana be too inaccurate?
As for the tortoise shell helmet....a 'lacquer' black with a gold "Mon" on, will look fantastic on a mounted "Shogun", without much armor (those loose sleeves will do nicely.....can I demostrate it with a photo here?)
-
Yes! Pictures please! ;D
-
Looking great.
On the straw hat, what about attaching to either a bandana/cloth part that fits over the hair or just using a ring to fit down on the hair that would be colored the hair color?
-
Thank you for your advice my friend. I think I'll use the second option as it is the easiest to design with Rhino. If the brim of the jingasa come down low enough, the ring might be hidden unless you look up on figure.
But, I want this helmet to look as flat as possible so it doesn't look like my first Jingasa model, that'll require compromises. ;)
-
or just using a ring to fit down on the hair that would be colored the hair color?
or better still..color it white to simulate the "pillow"
-

thought I could easily fashion a Shogun from my various customs but obody suitable for the post so instead used the body of my future warring Japanese monk with a temporary torso...
of course this western medieval helmet makes him look weird...
speaking of tortoise sheel helmet, can you share a frontal and side elevation 3D drawing with me?
low resolution is fine...I want to try carving one out ;)
-
There you go!

Cool to see 3D printing incorporated with Playmobil.
I use Maya to create my models, and am looking to build some cool steck-pieces:
* the infamous 4 way connector
* a wall with built-in fireplace (the large medieval kind that are practically big enough to stand in)
* a spiral staircase
There is a place in down-town Chicago where you can bring in your models, and they'll print them out for you.
Also, if you are looking to smooth the "rough" texture of the models, you can wipe them down with a little bit of nail polish remover, though that does make them a little glossy and you might lose some details.

Having looked back through this thread, I curious if you ever made the guitars that you showed the 3D renderings of a while ago?
-
Yes I did. But that was looooong ago, and I couldn't do half as much as I can now. The guitars were all too small, with the neck too thin etc…
You must "playmobilise" real life objects so they fit a clicky's proportions which are odd. I didn't playmobilise the guitars, so they were wrong.
It's on my to-do list to reshape them some day…among many other things!
-
That great info, thanks! I want to make a bass guitar, and I'm trying to figure out if it would be better to make the whole piece, or use the regular playmo guitar, and just make the bass neck.
-
Well, the body of the bass guitars are somehow the same as the six-strings. So maybe a longer neck on a playmo frame would do the trick!
