Post by: cheng on October 15, 2012, 06:02:06
do you think these sleeves look better than those rolled up sleeves with straps and buttons?

Uhm.. I don't know... I don't know about historically correct...  :-[

But the original sleeves are a better match color wise..

I love those torsos... had to remove the coat. I wonder why they insist on covering their masterpieces with jackets.  ::)

...

I hypnotised myself into believing that the undersides of the cloth/sleeves were of a newer shade due to elbow grease from miles of marching in the sun from the coast to Peking :P

Yeah, I think it looks fine! The wrong side of the fabric might be a lighter color.

thanks everyone! and bb, my one big worry is whether one of these days, the rolled sleeves will lose its elasticity or crack altogether (I just ordered more :P)

They very well may! You could consider heat-bending them. :omg: I found more, btw, tucked in the drawers of some medical carts! I knew I had more somewhere.

I can send you the others that I found, I really have no use for but one or two of them. If I can find them again (I'm sure I can) I'll send them to you if you have use for them.

I wouldn't worry about the colors being different, after all there are several excuses. It could be from the elbow grease, or maybe their coats were lined? Either way, I think the color is close enough it doesn't matter. :)

Very nice looking figures! While I do not collect this theme, I really enjoy looking at customs from it.

Hey, I missed these earlier on...  They look great, Cheng!  8-)
Yes, no worries about slightly different colours, it is the inside of the sleeves you see when rolled-up, colours often were/are somewhat different on the inside.
