Photos from the Gulliver diorama. First of all, thank you to Macgayver for allowing me to copy his idea, and also to Playmobil for sending me the pirate.
I would have like to have built a city in the background, but the majority of my steck was in use for Hogwarts so I placed this display next to the Hogwarts display to give the impression of a town in the backgroung and concentrated on the shipwreck and the beach with the townsfolk gathering things from the shipwreck.
It was amazing the number of times I had to lay the ship down on its side because people kept standing it upright, thinking it had been knocked over
Here's a photo of it the correct way...

Gulliver was very good and remained smiling throughout his ordeal... ;D

I would have liked to make more of the display but space prevented this, so maybe next year I'll try again with a larger area and add more to it.

All I can say is 'wow!' I love the whole thing, from the idea (which made me laugh out loud, so then I had to explain to other people in the room what I was laughing at! lol) through to the brilliant execution of it - it's fantastic!
An excellent diorama - just one quick question, how big is Gulliver? I wondered whether he was one of the 30cm figures they're selling on the playmo site, but then realised that if a normal figure is 7cm that couldn't be right 8}

Great photos, Elaine. I hope you will rerun it next year.

This looks great, Elaine! Very well done.

This is a great display! ;)

Poor Gulliver!!! Good think he kept a smiling face!!! Great diorama again, Elaine!!!

There sure are a lot of kegs coming from that shipwreck, maybe those clickies will be kind enough to put a handle on one of them so Gulliver can use it as a mug. :)

Wonderful diorama Elaine, many thanks for sharing.
George.

Thank you all for your lovely comments, I was a bit disappointed with the display because it wasn't really what I set out to do, but your comments have made me feel better about it.

He's about 24 inches. He's what is known as a 'pelmet figure' - used in shop displays. He's much more solid than the large 5 foot figures. Playmobil UK kindly sent him to me to use in the display.

Did they end up letting you keep him after all? :D

Well they haven't asked for him back yet. ;)

Interesting. ;)
-
Well its clear that your clickies don't want him to leave, considering that they tied him down. They must really like him too. :)

to be fair give them two more days.... then keep it.

If they ask for it back, tell them you can't, all your klickies have tied him down and won't let him go. I'd love to see their reaction!
