Title: Series 3 figures
Post by: tonguello on August 16, 2012, 01:28:09
As promised in the other thread. Here they are. Sorry for the poor quality but that's all I can manage with this light.

Ladies first.
Ladies are a lot more interesting than the guys, like it happened in the previous series IMO.

First lady has a lot of details and A LOT of gems to stick to. You actually have to make a necklace with them. It is really cute.

The rider is cute too. I like the color combo and the bucket in green I think is the first time that appears.

Pregnant lady is awesome. She has a sticker for the cover of the book that makes it more interesting. Only thing I don’t like is the hair which is very red, same red as the shoes. Crazy!

Surfer girl has nothing interesting to me. The legs are printed to make the neoprene suit but that’s all that’s new. The skin color is darker than the regular one.

Lady in black has a really great new hair piece. Love it. I just wonder what the heck the orange stick it!

And the green clicky lady is horrible. Sorry! There nothing interesting or cute about it.

Skater girl has a kind of pearly/metallic torso which is very nice. The surprise was that she is wearing blue eye shadow under the eyebrows. Weird but cute!

The bride is IMO the best of the group. Very detailed dress. The long gloves are awesome, and the veil and the thingy in the hair are very nice too. The pearls necklace is a hit!!!

Statue of Liberty is cute but I don’t see the body parts very useful, except of course to make another statue.

Hindu lady is very beautiful. Her dress, under the cloth is really nice. The red stone in the crown (finally a new crown) is a great touch. The skin color is darker than standart.

Spanish lady is GORGEOUS!!! The skirt and shoes are great and very handy for some customs!

Pastry chef girl is really cute. Nothing new but a very good put-together of parts and colors.

Boys next in a few minutes.  :)

:inlove: :inlove: :inlove: I love every last one of them, even the ones you don't like! I'm not crazy about gaga, but the collar and cuffs look quite useful to me. The pregnant lady is great, sorry she has such a weird hair color. I know the color you mean, the zookeeper that comes with the koala set, I think, has that same hair. Really weird! But I use it on teenagers. :P

Thanks for the review, can't wait to get all of them!

And can't wait to see the boys now. ;D

The boys group is kinda boring, though there are some interesting items.

The pirate is cute and I love that his bald head is tattooed!!

Skater, champion, singer, ninja and astronaut are not great. Same old same old. The singer has two faces, the other one is WORST that the one in series 2 skater. HIDEOUS!

The English guard is very nice though a little disappointing. I really can’t say why, but I expected something else. The belt has a holder at the back, but  there’s  nothing to put there (or maybe it’s missing from my envelope)

The warrior is interesting. The silver parts and not chromed but they are very silvery-shiny! Weird that it comes with gemstones to put on the shield.

The dwarf is great though a little weird. They just made the legs shorter which makes him end up with weird proportions. The overall result is really good though.

The transparent robot is AWESOME, maybe the best of this group. Just wish the hands and head were clear too. The cables and stuff… I have no idea how they go and nothing to show you. Nevertheless FANTASTIC!

Pumpkin guy is fabulous too!!! I love him. The colors are great and the details in the printing is very good. He has also two faces though the classic eyes and smile in this one look bad. Better with the scary one!

The drummer is ok. Nothing new. Just a good combo.

All in all Im very happy with this series!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So is it shiny, not-so-shiny, or shiny shiny? :giggle:

THanks for the review!

the bayonet goes in the holder when not used. In real life the some older guns cant shoot with the bayonet in.

Thanks for the pics Gaston.  These look great.  Probably be awhile before these show up at my TRU since they just put out series two like a month ago.  I really like the ladies half better.  I plan on getting a few of the Bieber look-a-likes just for the mic stand.  I need three or four for my band.

I need the Beibers for their hair!

My TRU still isn't carrying series 2. ??? They have a bunch of series 1 stuff left. :-\

My TRU still isn't carrying series 2. ??? They have a bunch of series 1 stuff left. :-\
I practically had to clear out series one single handely.  Then the spot where they were was empty for awhile, so one day I called and asked them very specifically if they had series two and they said "oh yeah we've got tons."  So I jumped in the car headed down there ready to grope some packages.  I get there and there's NONE, just empty pegs.  So I asked about 5 different people what the $@#% was going on and finally some "manager" guy says no they haven't got those yet (perceptive).  I was really steamed so I dropped my basket on the ground in front of him and walked out.  ::) A week later, they had series 2.  So BB just head down there and throw a fit and see what happens.  ;)

You're welcome guys!

Bieber does bring a mic and stand but I forgot to put it for the pic  ;D

bb the armour is shiny-shiny
I think the hair is the same that the one the skater from series 2 has.  ???

thank you chris for the info. I should have thought it was for the bayonet!

Yes, it is, and I love it.

El Jefe, that just doesn't sound like me at all! But maybe it's worth a try. ;)

Ok, I've posted four times in this topic now, and it's only an hour old. :-[

Great review....though I only wanted a handful of them...some of the others just grow on me

And there is no led light from the dragon knight?? I got this illusion from their effect on their online flash animation and it is quite disappointing the front man of series 3 does not come with special gimmicks, like the chromed blue parts and crystal skull pirate.

What about the royal guard?? Is it super easy to feel from the bag?? And do they come with nice printing even for their badges?? Thsnks

Some look nice but I dont really see much I can use, perhaps the pirate but I already have plenty of pirates. I'd wish they would include a normal knight for once instead of always fantasy knights.

Or maybe those roman warriors and lower ranking soldiers so we can buy them in troops

Heronimus the royal guard printing is nice but just OK, nothing really great.

Lynx the skin color first appeared in the Lara Croft lady from series 2.

The problem is it defeats the purpose... You can't mix it.. and in reality, it's ANOTHER white. So... meh.

I haven't seen it in person. It would be nice if it were a bit darker, like a nice olive, but I'll take what variety I can get.

Aw… some are great, indeed. But, is the Shaolin fighter wearing tennis shoes??? Somebody in Malaysia is going to be reeeeeally disappointed.  :(
The new knight is wearing the armor from the samurai special in silver, that might be good for heavy armored roman troopers!
As soon as I get one dwarf, I'm making a Tyrion Lannister!  ;D
Best and thanks for the pics Gaston!
It's crazy to think that the first good pics we get are from Argentina!  :P

I'm not really into the girls but, I can see the appeal of most of those figures if that's what you want quite well done the brides hair is a good piece and I like the statue and Hindu woman particularly.

As for the boys I love most of them, first of the one who you describe as an Astronaut  :hmm: is a racing car drive and to me and possibly many others he looks like a Formula 1 driver more specifically near identical to a Red Bull driver reason enough for me to be tempted to buy one or two of him to do a mock up of Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber the two Red Bull drivers. Moving on from memory, the tattos on the pirate are cool, really like the singer, the drummer looks cool as do the Knight and Dwarf,  the other one I'd be really tempted by is the Grenadier Guard as he looks really good and would hopefully look good with my Action Man Grenadier Guard.

He didn't describe him as an astronaut! He described him as a champion, the astronaut is the white and green one.

Female figures (apart from Statue of Liberty) are awesome!!!!I love more Lady Gaga,Hindu Woman,Surfer Girl,Skater Girl,Bride and Princess. From the male figures I only like popstar with classic smile of course (the other one is too scary),also astronaut, hockey player and drummer!Popstar may be Justin Bieber because he is as famous as Lady Gaga!

The Hindu Lady is so beautiful  :inlove:
The Dwarf... Why didn't they give him shorter hands  ??? They went to all the trouble creating the new legs mould, I guess they could make the arms shorter too... Anyways, I still like him.
The Knight.... Why oh why!!! do they insist on those silly arms and shoulder sleeves for knights?!?!?!?!?!?! Otherwise, he looks great!
And the robot!!! I'd love to have a full battalion of them  ;D ;D ;D
Title: Re: Series 3 figures

Thanks for the extra pics!

As to the dwarf, I am happy he's not fat! That would ruin the possibility for customs... or at least limit them a LOT. Same for different torso/arms....

On a side note, I wish they'd STOP making "champions" with no car... I mean.. what's the point? These don't do well by themselves, IMO.. Not that we don't have some extra cars, but we weren't planning on keeping them!

Ah - remembered something else... About the pregnant woman.. are her legs fat guy's legs? Or are they different?

Bought some bags today. And ofcourse I picked out the skater and champion bleh.....I want the dwarf and the robot.

However, Tonguello, you mentioned the orange stick somewhere. I have an idea what it could be. I think it's a breaklight, for underwater or dark caves. I got that klicky too and I like her.

I thought they belly part of the legs mold was smaller but then I compared them to the medieval preist legs and they are equal.

The only ones with two faces are the Scarecrow and the singer. I have to check the green... thing... but I don't think she has a double face.
The sacrecrow has a classic face but orange or course. The singer has Lego's eyes and mouth. The mouth is opened ... like saying aaaaaaaaaaah... or singing actually  but it's really ugly! worst than the skater.
try to take pics though I don't know if I can tonight.

Thank you so much for posting these pics - I've fallen in love with the hindu lady!  She doesn't fit any of my themes at all.. but... but....I MUST have her! lol
I also quite like the lady in black (and her hair) and can see some possibilities for the statue of Libery figure as an oxidised bronze statue in some scenario :)  I'm also excited by the flamenco dancer's skirt and shoes - really  nicely done.  As for the boy's figures..possibly the singer's hair (I don't have any like that yet) and definitely the dwarf.  Other than that.. somehow they don't seem to jump out at me in the same way as the girl's figures did, although I'm guessing that some of them will grow on me once I see them in front of me.  The pirate's tattoos with the lady in black's body might be interesting :D
I was in my local Toymaster store today - they still have series 1 (and yes, I got some! lol), so if I was going to buy them out single-handedly like el jefe did with his, I think it may take a while :D

Sometimes they differ from set to set,for example in series 2 rock star, some back were included stripes in his arms, some others not!And as for the scarecrow's hair, is some bags is orange, but in some other bags its hair is black!!!!!!!

Guess I'm lucky than, all my "Punk rockers" from series 2 had the same un-striped arms, and all my new scarecrows are orange-haired. ;)

We got a call from our local toy store today.  Series 3 are in (Ohio)!!!!  Hopefully the rest of the U.S. is seeing them as well.

We didn't have too long to search (squeeze), but found everyone we wanted pretty easily except for Pumpkinhead.

Great toys.  I am glad they are finally in!

Yep,
if you wanted to use the head it would be easier to take 30 66 4270 - Scarecrow (http://www.playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showpart.pl?partnum=30%2066%204270) or 30 66 7500 - Jungle Scarecrow (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showpart.pl?partnum=30-66-7500) and pop the head off and replace it with the Jack one. The Jungle Scarecrow is actually scarier to me.

Series 3 finally arrived in our local Brick and Mortar last night. I was able to identify  3 royal guard all by myself and very quickly. All we need now is all the other ones. I am liking the idea more and more of asking Geobra to sell them to PCC members with out the surprise element.  Out of a house hold of 5 only 1 is excited about figuring it out. Even he does not want the surprise element, just the challenge of identifying the unopened bags.

Have not ventured down this path of identifying unopened bags, as the closest store is over an hour away.   :(  Probably just as well for my wallet!   :P

I too would like to be able to choose my figure. I see that different prices are being asked on ebay for different (opened) figures, perhaps perceived as being more exciting or rare or something?

For me, it's hard not to be anxious for that. I'm always happy when I finally find the newest series in stock somewhere, but then I know that I'll have to stand there feeling them for a while to get the ones that I want. Sometimes I leave with less than I originally wanted for that reason.

hey guys, long time no post. sorry about that
I was Christmas shopping yesterday and the only 2 learning express stores in my area say that they ARE NOT getting the series 3 Fi?ures  :o and my 2 TRU stores have series 1 & 2...no 3 in sight. Has anyone in the US had luck finding series 3. I was hoping to get some for the Christmas stockings.
I have 1 more local store that i can check on Monday....after that, I am at a loss. Was anyone able to buy the cases in the US this time? Anyone got extras they want to sell?
Hope you are all well!

I got some at a local shop... and some more at Kohl's... but Five Below doesn't have them yet... just series 1 and 2... hoping they get the others in because that is usually where I pick up all the extra multiples I need   :shhhh: BUT if you have a Kohl's they should have them (though they have a smaller display that holds 12 of each boys and girls... so they may not even have the ones you are looking for on the floor)

They've been very hard to find here in the US, WoT. In another thread, I believe someone said Learning Express isn't ordering series 3, and no one has seen them in TRU yet. But someone spotted them at Kohl's, so that might be worth a try.

If you're anywhere near the Austin area, you should check out Terra Toys. It's an amazing toy store with the largest Playmobil selection I've ever seen in one place. When I was there last month they had series 3, but all mystery figures (series 1-3) were together in a huge cardboard display bin (not the smaller displays designed for the mystery figures). This wouldn't have stopped me, but I'd already managed to get series 3 somewhere else. They also carry what seems to be the full range of add-ons!

Now that is rare in a mom-and-pop shop. I think I have only seen one in all the stores I have ever been in, and I have been in a lot of toy stores  ;D

WoT They are around in the US as our local shops have them but that is of no use to you, we are in  California, sorry. Unless you need a vacation

Hi all! I got my first three Series 3 Fi?ures today :) unfortunately I had two robots and one knight/warrior. I love the warrior but am not that fussed about the robot so the spare one will go into the swaps pile. I've no idea how the two rubber cables fit to the robot (any ideas?) so I've got them attached at the back with the other ends trapped under the visor.

I got a couple of series 2 as well (the basketball player and the rock singer). For some reason John Lewis in Stratford Westfield (London) only had boys figures, no girls  >:(

I finally got some of these, thanks to Elric. And I LOVE the new skin color! I thought it looked a bit pale in the photos, but you can really see the difference in person. It's a nice warm tone that will be useful for many ethnicities.

Who else has this new skin color? I know of the Indian woman, Lara Croft, and the surfer. Are there any others? I at least want a 2nd Indian lady and the Lara Croft figure for customs, but I'm hoping there will be others I can use intact or for parts.

I finally saw series 3 at the TRU in Fayetteville, NC tonight.  I felt the packages looking for the Statue of Liberty but could not find the crown or torch.  As anyone decoded the package numbering yet or are they still random?
Kero makes blind packages but the stock codes are consistent to tell what is inside.
